OCR: ALT-176: Do you think it was the process of creating the ANSI you enjoyed more, or the final outcome? Deeply D: Ack. I always enjoy the final outcome. The process to me right now is tedious. I'm trying new things to like make it more enjoyable, but I have always hated drawing outline so I procrastinate A LOT before starting a pic. ALT-176: I'm the same way, especially with relatively long ansis. Do you need to get motivated these days, to draw a long ANSI? Deeply D: Uhm. . I've always needed to be motivated. That's why I used to hop from group to group. It made things different and somewhat interesting so I was motivated, but now twilight motivates me to draw a lot. I haven't been this active in, well .. ever, actually. ALT-176: Before we get to Twilight(and I want to ask you quite a bit about that), you were in both Acid and Ice, like several of the old artists out there. How would you compare your experiences in each group? Deeply D: Uhmm, well. . I've been in ICE off and on a total of probably close to 1&1/2. Ice is cool and will always be cool - the way they interact with each other and the fact that they are totaly laid back makes it a good group to be in. But like all the other groups these days, they are somewhat disorganized and have an antiquated view of the scene . Acid, well. . I've been in Acid 5 times a total of 3 or 4 months. I just join them 'cuz me and Rad Man got along very well, but the whole Acid experience isn't for me. ALT-176: Did you feel more in touch with the group while in Acid or in Ice? .. or did just having a good relationship with Rad Man help? Deeply D: Uhm. . well, I was Ice senior for a while. I was pretty much in touch with it back then, but things happen that make you change your mind. ACID is a different story. I give them much respect for laying new ground in the scene for years, but I just don't dig the whole mentality and propaganda that they spew out. ALT-176: How has this "scene" affected your social life, if it all, over about the last 5 years? Deeply D: Ack. . very good question. I won't lie. The scene has affected my social life alot. I find myself spending alot of friday and saturday nights on the computer rather then socializing with friends, but i think thats pretty much a choice i make on my own and not the fact that I feel obligated to be on the CPU. ALT-176: Curse of the "scener." Deeply D: And the fact that my last 5 girlfriends we're psychos from looneysville doesnt motivate me to like go and pick up another one. ALT-176: Twilight. What goals or "purposes" did you have when you decided to form this group? Deeply D: Basically here's the shpeil: I formed Twilight 'cuz i didnt think Acid or Ice we're doing a good job anymore and it seems I'm not the only one who was thinking that way thus the 30+ members in Twilight. I've heard some stories from people ( who shall remain nameless ) saying that I bushwacked people into joining Twilight and that I harrassed them. That's totally false. A total of 7 invitations were made to people. That's it. 5 of them joined. I don't have any goals for it, other then the basic ones. It's simple. I want every Twilight pack to be better than the last and I expect people in the group to have the same philosophy about their art. We're not out to crush any groups or anything. We do our own thing and whoever "fucks" with us will be ignored. (We wont jump into any "wars" created by some disgruntled parties.) ALT-176: From hearing that, I'd say that there are a lot of ANSI artists out there who aren't very happy about being in Acid or Ice right now. Deeply D: You would be surprised how many applicants we have had from Ice and Acid that we didn't except because it would of totally destroyed either Ice or Acid. ALT-176: I don't see anything wrong with inviting people to leave their current group and join yours. If that artist does decide to leave and take up your invitation, it's the staff's fault of the artist's ex-group, and not your fault for inviting him/her Deeply D: Exactly. ALT-176: Now, I saw the first Twilight pack and was quite impressed with the ANSI art in it. I didn't see any high res art ( jpegs) in the pack, though. Is that changing? {continued . . } 14
