Robin, Here is a recipe for a bitter that I have made several times and which
gets real good real quick:
BURGER BITTER (after the designer, Steve Burger)
1 Tin Alexanders Pale Malt Extract 2 lbs light dry malt extract 2 oz Cascade
hops (60 min boil) 1 0z Cascade hops (5 min boil) Whitbread Ale Yeast
The brew for as simple as the recipe is, turns out exceptionally clean tasting
and enjoyable. It is generally very drinkable in one week to ten days after
bottling, and turns out a fair bit like Red Hooks Ballard Bitter.
The recipe was furnished to me by my supplier and friend Bob, the proprietor
of Jims Home Brew Supply in Spokane, Wa (509 328-4850). BTW Bob is thinking
seriously about joining the forum.
Enjoy, Bruce
