  3.   LICENSE NUMBER FORMAT:
  4.   The State of  Virginia uses the driver's Social  Security Number as
  5.   the  license  number.  Virginia   may  also  issue  a  sequentially
  6.   generated nine  (9) character alpha  numeric license number  of "R"
  7.   plus 8 digits or "T" plus 8 digits.

  10.   DOCUMENT:
  11.   Current  licenses, Manufactured  by NBS,  Imaging Systems Division,
  12.   are  photographic  and  laminated  with  a  security  image.  Prior
  13.   licenses are photographic, and manufactured by Polaroid. The 2 part
  14.   photographic  format licenses  are made  of paper  stock in a clear
  15.   plastic pouch.

  18.   TERM:
  19.   License term is 3 to 7 years. Newest issues are usually valid for 5
  20.   years, expiring on the last day of the driver's month of birth.

  23.   MINORS:
  24.   Minor license indicated by a left profile photo of driver, and also
  25.   prints "UNDER 21 UNTIL (date)" in red.

  29.   Indicated by "COMMERCIAL DRIVER LICENSE" printed below heading.
