LICENSE NUMBER FORMAT:
The State of Utah issues a 4 to 9 digit numeric drivers license
number with no spacing or delimiting characters between the digits.
License numbers are sequentially issued, with no correlation
between licensee's personal identifiers and the license number:
(nnnnnnnnn).
DOCUMENT:
The plastic laminated, photographic license may have a
retroreflective laminate. The driver's photograph is displayed down
the right side of the document, and should be overlaped at the left
edge of the photograph by by the commissioner's signature. A gold
state seal appears across the textual portion of the document.
TERM:
License is valid five (5) years, (Since October 1, 1991) expiring
on the driver's birthday. Prior licenses are valid 4 years, also
expiring on driver's birthday. Prior to July 1988, extension
sticker can extend license for multiple 4-year terms. One 4-year
extension permitted if issued between July 1988 and October 1,
1991. One 5 year extension permitted if after October 1, 1991.
MINORS:
Minor license indicated by a green header bar and "UNDER 21" in box
at the top corner and "MINOR" printed above the name. Prior
licenses have "MINOR" or "MINOR OPERATOR" printed above name.
CDL:
"COMMERCIAL DRIVER LICENSE" and purple heading indicate a CDL for
this state. If operator is a minor, the word "MINOR" printed in
purple will appear in top right box.
