  3.   LICENSE NUMBER FORMAT:
  4.   The State of  Rhode Island issues a seven  (7) digit numeric driver
  5.   license number without spacing. The first 2 digits are the year the
  6.   license was issued.

  9.   DOCUMENT:
  10.   The plastic photographic license manufactured by Polaroid, displays
  11.   the  driver's  photograph  in  the  lower  right corner. The camera
  12.   number is at the left edge of  the photo, with a blue state seal in
  13.   the  data  area  and  security  features  in the laminate. Official
  14.   signature  appears at  the bottom  of the  license overlapping  the
  15.   photo.

  18.   TERM:
  19.   Licenses are valid for five (5) years for drivers under 70; 2 years
  20.   for drivers  70 and older and  for first time issuance.  Expires on
  21.   the driver's birthday.

  24.   MINORS:
  25.   Licenses issued  to drivers under 21  subsequent to September 1988,
  26.   show a  silver bar over  data area containing  the birth date.  The
  27.   inset  portion  of  the  bar  includes  Polaproof  reflective image
  28.   reading "RI  UNDER 21 RI". A  red headbar with the  word "MINOR" in
  29.   the heading indicates drivers between the ages of 16 and 18.

  32.   CDL:
  33.   CDL license must have a sticker  affixed to the back of the license
  34.   subsequent to April 1, 1992.
