  3.   LICENSE NUMBER FORMAT:
  4.   The Province of Prince Edward Island issues a twelve (12) character
  5.   numeric license  number with dash delimiters  to create the pattern
  6.   4-6-1-1:  (nnnn-nnnnnn-n-n)  Prince  Edward  Island  uses their own
  7.   algorithm to generate a license number from the driver's name, date
  8.   of birth and sex:

  10.   Last Name                              -  first four (4) characters
  11.   Day, Month, and Year of birth          -  next six (6) characters
  12.   Sex                                    -  next character
  13.   Check digit                            -  last character

  16.   DOCUMENT:
  17.   The   plastic  laminated   photographic  license   manufactured  by
  18.   Polaroid, displays the driver's photograph in the upper left corner
  19.   of the document.  The photograph should be overlapped  on the right
  20.   edge  by  the  camera  number   and  provincial  seal.  The  floral
  21.   provincial emblem is repeated in gold within the laminate to form a
  22.   vertical pattern.

  26.   Licenses are valid for three (3) years, expiring on the last day of
  27.   driver's birth month.

  30.   MINORS:
  31.   Licenses issued  to minors display  no special indicators  of minor
  32.   status. Check the date of birth on the document.
