  4.   The  Province of  Newfoundland issues  a  ten (10)  character alpha
  5.   numeric    license  number   without  delimiters   or  punctuation:
  6.   (Annnnnnnnnn)  Newfoundland   uses a   very simple   coding system:

  8.   First Letter of Last Name             -  first character
  9.   Date of birth                         -  next six (6) characters
  10.                                            (yy/mm/dd)
  11.   Control digits                        -  last three (3) characters

  14.   DOCUMENT:
  15.   The  unlaminated  paper  license is  not  photographic.   It should
  16.   appear   on  a  greenish  paper   stock,  with  green  data  boxes.

  19.   TERM:
  20.   Licenses are valid for thirty six  (36) to forty seven (47) months,
  21.   expiring on the driver's birthday.

  24.   MINORS:
  25.   Licenses issued  to minors bear  no special  notation.  Examine the
  26.   date of birth on the document.
