NEW HAMPSHIRE
LICENSE NUMBER FORMAT:
The State of New Hampshire issues a ten (10) character alpha
numeric license number without punctuation or delimiters:
(nnAAAnnnnn)
New Hampshire uses their own algorithm to generate a license number
from the driver's name and date of birth, breaking this information
into coded portions as follows:
Month of Birth - first two (2) characters
Last name and First name - next three (3) characters
Year of Birth - next two (2) characters
Day of Birth - next two (2) characters
DOCUMENT:
The plastic laminated, photographic license manufactured by
Polaroid, displays the driver's photograph along the left side of
the document. The state seal, camera number, and signature of
endorsement should overlap the right edge of the photograph. A
pattern of "NEW HAMPSHIRE"
TERM:
Licenses are valid for up to four (4) years, expiring on the
driver's birthday when the driver's age is divisible by four (4).
Some current issue licenses may be valid for up to seven years.
MINORS:
Licenses issued to drivers under 21 use a to blue photograph
background.
CDL:
Commercial licenses are indicated by "COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSE"
printed below the driver's name and address at the top of the
document.
