KENTUCKY
LICENSE NUMBER FORMAT:
The State of Kentucky currently uses the driver's Social Security
Number as the driver license number. At the driver's request,
Kansas will issue a nine (9) or ten (10) character sequentially
generated numeric license number that does not correspond to the
driver's personal identifiers.
DOCUMENT:
The plastic laminated, photographic license manufactured by
Polaroid, displays the driver's photograph in the lower right
corner. The authorizing signature that straddles the top edge of
the photograph may vary. Current issue license shows "KENTUCKY"
printed within the laminate. The Kentucky State seal is printed in
gold above the textual portion of the document.
TERM:
License issued to drivers past the age of majority are valid for
four (4) years, expiring on the last day of the driver's birth
month. License issued to drivers under 21 are valid for up to five
(5) years, expiring one month after the driver's 21st birthday.
MINORS:
Licenses currently issued to minors show "UNDER 21" printed
vertically in blue down each side of the laminate. Licenses issued
prior to October 1991 showed "UNDER 21" printed in red diagonally
across the textual portion of the document.
CDL:
Commercial licenses have "CDL LIC" or "CDL LICENSE" printed
immediately above the photograph.
