KANSAS
LICENSE NUMBER FORMAT:
The State of Kansas currently uses the driver's Social Security
Number as the driver license number. At the driver's request,
Kansas will issue a nine (9) character sequentially generated alpha
numeric license number that does not correspond to the driver's
personal identifiers: (Annnnnnnnn) Previous issue Kansas license
numbers consisted of six alpha numeric characters, alternating:
(AnAnAn)
DOCUMENT:
The plastic laminated, photographic license manufactured by
Polaroid, displays the driver's photograph in the lower right
corner. Authorizing signatures may appear at the top and/or sides
of the photograph. Current issue license shows "KANSAS" printed in
gold within the laminate, and the Kansas State seal printed in gold
over the textual portion of the document.
TERM:
License is valid for four (4) years, expiring on the driver's
birthday.
MINORS:
Licenses currently issued to minors used use a red photo backdrop.
Drivers 14 to 16 years old have restriction 5 or J02.
CDL:
Commercial licenses have a heading of "COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE"
rather than "DRIVER'S LICENSE".
