LOUISIANA

The State of Louisiana currently issues a sequentially generated
nine (9) digit numeric license number without punctuation, spaces,
or delimiters. The license number does not correspond to the
driver's personal identifiers.
DOCUMENT:
The plastic laminated, photographic license manufactured by
NBS, Imaging Systems Division, displays the driver's photograph
along the right side of the document. The governor's name, or the
slogan "DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE. DON'T LITTER LOUISIANA" should
appear above the photograph. The state seal and camera number
should straddle the left edge of the photograph.
TERM:
License issued subsequent to September 1989 are valid for four (4)
years, expiring on the driver's birthday. Previously issued
licenses were valid for five (5) years. Drivers over the age of 70
receive a license valid for two (2) years.
MINORS:
Licenses currently issued to minors show "M" in the "minor" field.
Drivers under 21 have a red photograph backdrop and "UNDER 21"
printed on the license.
CDL:
Commercial licenses have a gold title bar and photograph border,
and "COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSE" printed immediately above the
textual portion of the document.
