  3.   LICENSE NUMBER FORMAT:
  4.   The State  of Louisiana  currently issues  a sequentially generated
  5.   nine (9) digit numeric  license number without punctuation, spaces,
  6.   or  delimiters.   The license  number  does not  correspond  to the
  7.   driver's personal identifiers.

  10.   DOCUMENT:
  11.   The    plastic  laminated,  photographic   license  manufactured by
  12.   NBS,  Imaging Systems  Division,  displays the  driver's photograph
  13.   along the right side of the  document.  The governor's name, or the
  14.   slogan  "DON'T  DRINK AND  DRIVE.   DON'T LITTER  LOUISIANA" should
  15.   appear  above the  photograph.  The  state  seal and  camera number
  16.   should straddle the left edge of the photograph.

  19.   TERM:
  20.   License issued subsequent to September  1989 are valid for four (4)
  21.   years,  expiring   on the   driver's birthday.    Previously issued
  22.   licenses were valid for five (5) years.  Drivers over the age of 70
  23.   receive a license valid for two (2) years.

  26.   MINORS:
  27.   Licenses currently issued to minors  show "M" in the "minor" field.
  28.   Drivers  under 21  have a  red photograph  backdrop and  "UNDER 21"
  29.   printed on the license.

  32.   CDL:
  33.   Commercial licenses  have a gold  title bar  and photograph border,
  34.   and  "COMMERCIAL  DRIVERS LICENSE"  printed  immediately  above the
  35.   textual portion of the document.
