MEANING: INTERNAL IMPRESSION
THESE THREE, WHEN PRACTICED IN REGARD TO ONE OBJECT, CONSTITUTE SAMYAMA
SAMYAMA: COMBINATION OF CONCENTRATION, MEDITATION AND TOTAL ABSORPTION
OR DHARANA, DHYANA AND SAMADHI
THROUGH THE ATTAINMENT OF THAT COMES THE LIGHT OF KNOWLEDGE
SAMYAMA SHOULD BE PRACTICED IN STAGES
THESE THREE DISCIPLINES ARE MORE INTERNAL THAN THOSE THAT PRECEDE
BUT EVEN THESE THREE DISCIPLINES ARE EXTERNAL TO THE SEEDLESS (SAMADHI)
BY THE SUPPRESSION OF THE DISTURBING IMPRESSIONS OF THE MIND, AND BY THE RISE OF
IMPRESSIONS OF CONTROL, THE MIND WHICH PERSISTS IN THAT STATE OF CONTROL IS SAID
TO ATTAIN THE CONTROLLING MODIFICATIONS
ITS FLOW BECOMES STEADY BY HABIT
TAKING IN ALL SORTS OF OBJECTS AND CONCENTRATING UPON ONE OBJECT ARE TWO
MODIFICATIONS OF THE MIND. WHEN THE FIRST OF THESE IS SUPPRESSED AND THE OTHER
MANIFESTED, THE CHITTA ACQUIRES THE MODIFICATION CALLED SAMADHI
THE MODIFICATION CALLED ONE POINTEDNESS OF THE CHITTA IS ACQUIRED WHEN THE
IMPRESSION THAT IS PAST AND THAT WHICH IS PRESENT ARE SIMILAR
IN THIS WAY (BY THE THREE MODIFICATIONS) IS EXPLAINED THE THREEFOLD
TRANSFORMATION AS TO FORM, TIME, AND STATE IN MATTER AND IN THE ORGANS
THAT WHICH IS ACTED UPON BY TRANSFORMATIONS, EITHER PAST, PRESENT, OR YET TO BE
MANIFESTED, IS THE SUBSTANCE QUALIFIED
THE SUCCESSION OF CHANGES IS THE CAUSE OF MANIFOLD EVOLUTION
THROUGH THE PRACTICE OF SAMYAMA ON THE THREE SORTS OF CHANGES COMES THE
KNOWLEDGE OF THE PAST AND FUTURE
THROUGH SAMYANA ON WORD, MEANING, AND KNOWLEDGE, WHICH ARE ORDINARILY CONFUSED,
COMES THE KNOWLEDGE OF ALL ANIMAL SOUNDS
THROUGH THE PERCEIVING OF THE IMPRESSIONS COMES THE KNOWLEDGE OF PAST LIFE
THROUGH THE PRACTICE OF SAMYAMA ON THE SIGNS ON ANOTHERS BODY COMES KNOWLEDGE
OF HIS MIND
BUT NOT ITS CONTENTS, THAT NOT BEING THE OBJECT OF SAMYAMA
THROUGH THE PRACTICE OF SAMYAMA ON THE FORM OF THE BODY, THE POWER OF PERCEIVING
FORMS BEING OBSTRUCTED AND THE POWER OF MANIFESTATION IN THE EYE BEING SEPARATED
FROM THE FORM, THE PRACTITIONER' BODY BECOMES UNSEEN OR INVISIBLE
IN THIS MANNER THE DISAPPEARANCE OR CONCEALMENT OF WORDS WHICH ARE BEING SPOKEN,
AND OTHER SUCH THINGS, ARE ALSO EXPLAINED
KARMA IS OF TWO KINDS: SOME TO BE FRUCTIFIED SOON AND SOME TO BE FRUCTIFIED
LATER. BY PRACTICING SAMYAMA ON THESE, OR ON SIGNS CALLED ARISHTA, PORTENTS,
THE PRACTITIONER KNOW THE EXACT TIME OF THEIR SEPARATION FROM THEIR BODIES
KARMA : NATURAL LAW OF ACTION CAUSING REACTION
ARISHTA: OMENS
BY PRACTICING SAMYAMA ON FRIENDSHIP, MERCY, AND SO FORTH THE PRACTITIONER
EXCELS IN THESE RESPECTIVE QUALITIES
THROUGH SAMYAMA ON THE STRENGTH OF THE ELEPHANT AND OTHER CREATURES, THEIR
RESPECTIVE STRENGTH COMES TO THE PRACTITIONER

ON THE NAVEL CIRCLE KNOWLEDGE OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE BODY
ON THE HOLLOW OF THE THROAT, CESSATION OF HUNGER
ON THE NERVE CALLED THE KURMA, FIXITY OF THE BODY
ON THE LIGHT EMANATING FROM THE TOP OF THE HEAD, SIGHT OF THE SIDDHAS
SIDDHAS: A PERFECTED BEING
OR BY THE POWER OF ELIGHTENED PURITY COMES ALL KNOWLEDGE
THROUGH SAMYAMA ON THE HEART COMES KNOWLEDGE OF MINDS
ENJOYMENT COMES THROUGH THE NON DISCRIMINATION OF THE SOUL AND THE SATTVA,
WHICH ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT. THIS ENJOYMENT IS FOR THE SAKE OF THE SOUL. THERE
IS ANOTHER STATE OF THE SATTVA, CALLED SVARTHA. THE PRACTICE OF SAMYAMA ON THIS
STATE GIVES THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE SELF
SVARTHA: THE PURE SELF
FROM THAT ARISES THE KNOWLEDGE OF SUPERNATURAL HEARING, TOUCHING, SEEING,TASTING,
AND SMELLING, WHICH BELONG TO PRATIBHA
THESE ARE OBSTACLES TO SAMADHI, BUT THEY ARE POWERS IN THE WORLDLY STATE
WHEN THE CAUSE OF BONDAGE HAS BECOME LOOSENED, THE PRACTITIONER, BY HIS
KNOWLEDGE OF THE CHANNELS OF ACTIVITY OF THE NERVES, ENTERS ANOTHERS BODY
WHEN HE HAS CONQUERED THE CURRENT CALLED THE UDANA, THE PRACTITIONER DOES NOT
SINK IN WATER OR IN SWAMPS, HE CAN WALK ON THORNS AND SO FORTH, AND CAN DIE
AT WILL
UDANA: ONE OF THE FIVE LIFE FORCES. FOCUSED IN THE REGION OF THE THROAT AND
CONTROLS METABOLISM, AGING AND COMMUNICATION ASSOCIATED WITH A RED
VIOLET COLOR

CELESTIAL BEINGS, FOR FEAR OF EVIL AGAIN
THROUGH SAMYAMA ON A PARTICLE OF TIME AND THAT WHICH PRECEDES AND SUCCEEDS
IT COMES DISCRIMINATION
THOSE THINGS WHICH CANNOT BE DIFFERENTIATED BY SPECIES, SIGN, OR PLACE EVEN
THEY WILL BE DIFFERENTIATED BY THE ABOVE SAMYAMA
THE SAVING KNOWLEDGE IS THAT KNOWLEDGE OF DISCRIMINATION WHICH SIMULTANEOUSLY
COVERS ALL OBJECTS IN ALL VARIATIONS
BY THE SIMILARITY OF PURITY BETWEEN THE SATTVA AND THE SELF COMES KAIVALYA
KAIVALYA: INDEPENDENCE OF THE SOUL FROM THE BODY OR MATTER
