  13.        1        cup   Dates - chopped                                   
  14.        1        cup   Water - boiling                                   
  15.        1        tsp   Soda                                              
  16.        1        cup   Sugar                                             
  17.        1        ea    Egg - beaten                                      
  18.        2        cup   Flour                                             
  19.        1        tsp   Baking powder                                     
  20.        1/2      cup   Nut meats - chopped

  22.     DIRECTIONS  ------------------------------------------------------------

  24.     Add soda and boiling water to dates. Let stand and cool. Then mix with
  25.     remaining ingredients. Bake in moderate oven 1 hour. Bake in long loaf
  26.     bread pan.
