  1. TITLE:   Printing Multiple Copies to PostScript Issues Multiple Jobs

  5. PROBLEM:

  7. Specifying to print multiple copies of a file to a PostScript printer sends 
  8. each copy to the printer separately making the print time longer than it would 
  9. having the data sent only once, then the printer making the multiple copies.
  10.  
  11. SOLUTION: 
  12.  
  13. Because of the structure of the 3.3 and 3.4 Windows PostScript drivers, Ami 
  14. Pro files which specify printing multiple copies will print each copy 
  15. separately to a PostScript printer (the image of the file will be sent to the 
  16. printer multiple times instead of one time).  This will extend the time that 
  17. it takes to print multiple copies of a file.
  18.  
  19. A workaround is to set the number of copies to print in the Ami Pro print 
  20. options AND in the PostScript printer driver.  This method will send an image 
  21. of the file to the printer only once, then the printer will make the multiple 
  22. copies from that image.  NOTE: Since the Ami Pro print option for number of 
  23. copies to print overrides the PostScript printer driver option for number of 
  24. copies, it is necessary to set the number in both locations.  Otherwise, the 
  25. Ami Pro option will override the printer driver setting and an incorrect 
  26. number of copies will print.

  28. HOW TO SET THE NUMBER OF COPIES TO PRINT
  29.  
  30.  1. In Ami Pro open the file that will be printed.
  31.  2. Choose File / Print.
  32.  3. Specify the desired number of copies to print in the Number of Copies 
  33.     option.
  34.  4. Choose Setup.
  35.  5. Type the same number specified in Step 3 for the Copies option in the 
  36.     PostScript printer driver.
  37.  6. Choose OK.
  38.  7. Choose OK.
  39.  
  40. NOTE: The number of copies specified in Step 5 will remain in the PostScript 
  41. printer driver until another number is specified.  
  42.  
  43. Modified Ami Pro program files are available which will provide a more 
  44. permanent solution to this situation by working around the way the PostScript 
  45. printer drivers work.  Using the modified Ami Pro files, it will not be 
  46. necessary to set the number of copies to print in the PostScript printer 
  47. driver.  To obtain these files, call the Lotus WPD Customer Service Department 
  48. at 404-256-2272 and request the modified Ami Pro files that optimize printing 
  49. multiple copies to a PostScript printer.
