  7.     Remember the October Surprise? Allegations that the Reagan
  8. campaign committee secretly negotiated with the Iranians back
  9. in 1980, trading future concessions for a delay in releasing
  10. U.S. hostages until after the election, are about to get a
  11. second wind at a most inconvenient time for President Bush. In
  12. some of the most vicious political infighting in years, House
  13. Democrats are moving, against all-out Republican opposition, to
  14. fund an investigation to be headed by Indiana's Lee Hamilton.
  15. President Bush reportedly attended a meeting of House
  16. Republicans last week in which opposition strategy was
  17. discussed. A floor battle and vote are expected this week.
  18. Meanwhile, Senate leader George Mitchell is planning his own
  19. inquiry.
