  80. <P><A NAME = formal>I am a lecturer in the Law Department at Bristol
  81. University, teaching mainly public law subjects</A> (<A HREF =
  82. "http://www.bris.ac.uk/Depts/Law/PGPros/ma.html#public">Public Law</A> to
  83. first year students, <A HREF =
  84. "http://www.bris.ac.uk/Depts/Law/PGPros/courses.html#admin">Administrative
  85. Law</A> as an undergraduate and postgraduate option, and part of the
  86. postgraduate course <A HREF =
  87. "http://www.bris.ac.uk/Depts/Law/PGPros/courses.html#ecca">Constitutional
  88. and Administrative Law of the EC</A>).  I am a graduate of <A HREF =
  89. "http://www.csv.warwick.ac.uk/">Warwick University</A> (LLB, 1987) and the
  90. <A HREF = "http://www.iue.it/">European University Institute</A>, Florence
  91. (LLM, 1989).  Before coming to Bristol, I taught at the <A HREF =
  92. "http://www.hull.ac.uk/">University of Hull</A> for one year.</P>
  93.  
  94. <P>I am currently researching in two main areas.  My major interest is in
  95. the legal concept of the Crown, and its position in administrative and
  96. constitutional law.  I am also engaged in a long-term project
  97. investigating the use of judicial inquiries in the process of
  98. accountability.  Generally, I have an interest in accountability (both
  99. political and judicial) in the British and EU constitutions, and I am
  100. working on a book proposal in that area.</P>
  101.  
  102. <P>I have overall responsibility for IT strategy in the Law Department
  103. (although I am able to leave the difficult bits to people more talented in
  104. that direction), and I see the development of the World-Wide Web as a
  105. valuable tool for teaching and research.  I am also currently writing
  106. three workbooks on Constitutional and Administrative Law as part of the
  107. work of the <A HREF = "http://ltc.law.warwick.ac.uk/lcchome.html">Law
  108. Courseware Consortium</A>.  I participate in a number of law-related email
  109. lists and <A HREF =
  110. "http://www.bris.ac.uk/Depts/Law/other.html#usenet">newsgroups</A>,
  111. and(ostensibly) lead the <A HREF =
  112. "gopher://nisp.ncl.ac.uk/11/lists-k-o/law-public">Law-Public</A> list.</P>
  113.  
  114. <P>In addition to all this, I am Deputy Warden at one of the University's
  115. Halls of Residence, Goldney Hall.  I have now begun to write the <a
  116. href = "http://www.bris.ac.uk/Depts/Goldney/">Goldney Web pages</a> - these
  117. will grow.</P>
