  15.  
  16.   OS       : OS/2 Warp V3
  17.  
  18.   This product may not be compatible with the computer under a Network
  19.   environment (Client-Server, Peer to peer, and so on.).

  21. 2. OS/2 Warp driver
  22.  
  23.   The following three files that are necessary for installing OS/2
  24.   Warp driver for the KXL-D740 CD-ROM player are contained on the 
  25.   setup disk.
  26.  
  27.   KME4OS2.SYS
  28.      Enabler for the Interface Card.
  29.      This file is located after the PCMCIA.SYS and the IBM2SS01.SYS in 
  30.      the CONFIG.SYS.
  31.  
  32.     /nobeep
  33.       Setting this option turn off the beep sound that is generated
  34.       when inserting or removing the PC card.
  35.  
  36.     /v
  37.       The following message will appear.

  55. 3. Installing OS/2 Warp using KXL-D740 
  56.   This section gives you instructions how to install OS/2 Warp using 
  57.   KXL-D740. If your computer is already installed OS/2 Warp, please 
  58.   refer to "4. Installing KXL-D740 OS/2 Warp driver".
  59.

  61.    You can't install OS/2 Warp using KXL-D740 to the hard disk
  62.    which connects with the SCSI PC card.
  63.   ****************************************************************

  65.   3-1. Getting the Card Service Driver and Socket Service Drivers
  66.  
  67.     If you cannot operate KXL-D740, install on DOS before continuing.
  68.  
  69.     (1) Connect KXL-D740 to your computer and turn on KXL-D740, then
  70.         start your computer on DOS.
  71.  
  72.     (2) Insert the OS/2 CD-ROM into KXL-D740.
  73.  
  74.     (3) Insert the supplied KXL-D740's Setup Disk into drive A.
  75.  
  76.     (4) At the prompt[C:\], type "A:\SETUP1 D" and press Enter.
  77.          ( Where "D" is the KXL-D740's drive letter. )
  78.         The PCMCIA files are copied from the list below to your computer
  79.         on C:\KMEOS2.

  96.     (5) Restart your computer with "installation Diskette for CD-ROM" and
  97.         "Diskette for CD-ROM", then the message "OS/2 cannot locate or operate
  98.         any CD-ROM drive." appears.
  99.         If your computer has an internal CD-ROM drive, this message dose not
  100.         appear. You should install OS/2 Warp using the internal CD-ROM drive.
  101.  
  102.     (6) Press Enter, then your computer is prompt.
  103.  
  104.     (7) Insert the supplied KXL-D740's Setup Disk into drive A.
  105.  
  106.     (8) Type "A:\SETUP2" and press Enter.
  107.         The Card Service Driver and Socket Service Drivers are made on the
  108.         directory of C:\OS2.
  109.         The message "The system cannot find the path specified." appear at
  110.         four times, but it is not problem.
  111.  
  112.   3-2. Making a copy of "Diskette for CD-ROM"
  113.  
  114.     (1) Restart your computer to get a DOS prompt.
  115.  
  116.     (2) Make a copy "Diskette for CD-ROM" which OS/2 Warp supplied to a 
  117.         1.44MB diskette, and write "DISK for KXL-D740" on it's label.

  123.     (3) To make a free space of "DISK for KXL-D740", delete the 
  124.         FD16-700.ADD, the IBM2SCSI.ADD, and the BTSCSI.ADD from it.

  132.     (4) Copy the Card Service Driver(PCMCIA.SYS) from C:\OS2 to 
  133.         "DISK for KXL-D740".

  135.     (5) Copy the correct Socket Service Driver from the list below to 
  136.         "DISK for KXL-D740". All files listed below are in the C:\OS2
  137.         directory.

  155.         If your computer's name is not in the list, copy the IBM2SS01.SYS.

  157.     (6) Copy the KME4OS2.SYS and the KME4OS2.ADD from C:\OS2 to 
  158.         "DISK for KXL-D740".

  160.     (7) Add the following four lines at the bottom of the CONFIG.SYS in 
  161.         "DISK for KXL-D740".

  171.   3-3. Installing OS/2 Warp

  173.     (1) Connect KXL-D740 to your computer and turn on.
  174.  
  175.     (2) Start installing OS/2 Warp according as the manual of
  176.         OS/2 Warp.

  178.     (3) The following message appear.
  179.

  181.         |  Remove the diskette from drive A.         |
  182.         |  Insert the OS/2 Diskette 1 into drive A.  |

  186.     (4) Insert "DISK for KXL-D740" into drive A, and press Enter.
  187.         Three error messages appears, but it is not problem.

  189.     (5) When System Configuration window appears, click the icon [PCMCIA],
  190.         and select the name of your computer.
  191.         If the name is not on the list, choose "IBM ThinkPad 360".
  192.  
  193.     (6) The following message appears after you have completed the 
  194.         OS/2 Warp installation.

  209.         If you click [OK], you must modify the CONFIG.SYS as follow,
  210.         after restarting your computer.

  212.     (8) Double-click the icon [OS/2 System].

  214.     (9) Double-click the icon [Productivity].
  215.  
  216.     (10) Double-click the icon [OS/2 System Editor].
  217.  
  218.     (11) Open the CONFIG.SYS.

  220.     (12) Move the following two lines in the CONFIG.SYS to the bottom.

  234. 4. Installing KXL-D740 OS/2 Warp driver
  235.  
  236.   This section gives you instructions how to install KXL-D740 OS/2 Warp
  237.   driver.
  238.  
  239.   You must install the PCMCIA device driver, before installing KXL-D740
  240.   OS/2 Warp driver. Make sure that the PCMCIA device driver is installed.
  241.  
  242.   4-1 PCMCIA device driver
  243.  
  244.     (1) Connect KXL-D740 to your computer and turn on, then start your
  245.         computer.
  246.  
  247.     (2) Double-click the icon [OS/2 System].
  248.  
  249.     (3) Double-click the icon [System Setup].
  250.  
  251.     (4) Double-click the icon [Selective Install].
  252.  
  253.     (5) Check the column of [PCMCIA Support].
  254.         If it is "No Support Installed", install the PCMCIA device driver
  255.         according as the manual of OS/2 Warp.
  256.         In the another case, the PCMCIA device driver is already installed.

  258.   4-2 KXL-D740 OS/2 Warp driver
  259.  
  260.     (1) Double-click the icon [OS/2 System].
  261.  
  262.     (2) Double-click the icon [System Setup].
  263.  
  264.     (3) Double-click the icon [Device Driver Install].
  265.  
  266.     (4) Insert the supplied Setup Disk into drive A, and click [Install...].
  267.  
  268.     (5) Click [Panasonic KXL-D740 Interface Card], and click [OK].

  282.     (6) Click [Exit] after files copied.

  284.     (7) The message which is "Exit the program" appears, click [Yes].

  308.              Select [OTHER] from [Select CD-ROM Device(s)], and click [OK].
  309.              Continue installing according as the message of OS/2 Warp.

  312.              Close [System Configuration] window.

  314.     (11) Restart your computer.

  316.   You can use your computer on OS/2 Warp with KXL-D740.

  319. 5. Error Message
  320.  
  321.     ERROR MESSAGE
  322.    *********************************************************************
  323.    * The device driver KME4OS2.SYS specified in the BASEDEV= statement *
  324.    * on line xx of the CONFIG.SYS file was not installed.  Line xx     *
  325.    * is ignored.                                                       *
  326.    *********************************************************************

  328.     Possible Cause:
  329.       The KME4OS2.SYS couldn't start, because the PCMCIA device driver 
  330.       did not load.
  331.  
  332.     Solution:
  333.       * If the PCMCIA is not installed, install it. 
  334.  
  335.       * Check the CONFIG.SYS to make sure that the KME4OS2.SYS is located
  336.         after the PCMCIA.SYS and the IBM2SS01.SYS. If not, please edit.

  350. 6. Supplement and Troubleshooting Guide
  351.  
  352.   6-1. Connecting to SCSI I/F board on desktop computer
  353.  
  354.     If you are using the CD-ROM with a desktop computer, a SCSI board is
  355.     necessary. 
  356.  
  357.   6-2. Terminator setting
  358.  
  359.     Please set the terminator switch according to the conditions of the
  360.     CD-ROM player.
  361.  
  362.        ON:  when the player is connected to the computer system.
  363.        OFF: when using independently as an audio player (power
  364.             consumption can be saved).
  365.  
  366.     The factory setting is ON.
  367.  
  368.   6-3. Insertion / Removal of the PC card with the power on
  369.  
  370.     You can insert or take out the PC card with the computer turned on.
  371.     For example, you have connected the CD-ROM player, and then you want
  372.     to use the FAX modem card.  Change the card to the FAX modem card and
  373.     use.  Then, change it back to the PC card and continue.
  374.  
  375.     However, in this case if you leave the computer power on, also leave
  376.     the CD-ROM power on, and put the card into the slot.  If there is more
  377.     than one card slot, make sure to put the PC card back into the same
  378.     slot as before.
