  17.   OS       : Windows NT 3.51
  18.  
  19.   This product may not be compatible with the computer under a Network
  20.   environment (Client-Server, Peer to peer, and so on.).
  21.  
  22. 1-2 KXL-D740 requirements
  23.  
  24.   If you use KXL-D740 connected to a SCSI I/F board to a desktop computer,
  25.   it is possible that the PhotoCD Portfolio will not play.
  26.   Please make sure the 6th character of the "SERIAL NO." that is written on
  27.   the bottom of KXL-D740 is "D" or another letter after that.
  28.   If not, you will not be able to play it.

  30. 2. Windows NT driver
  31.  
  32.   The following 3 files that are necessary for installing Windows NT 3.51
  33.   driver for the CD-ROM player KXL-D740 are contained on the setup disk.
  34.  
  35.     DISK1
  36.      This file is used while the setup program is running.
  37.  
  38.     QLMINI.SYS
  39.      Windows NT 3.51 driver for KXL-D740.
  40.  
  41.     OEMSETUP.INF
  42.      Windows NT 3.51 driver for KXL-D740 is installed by the information 
  43.      of this file.

  46. 3. Software Installation
  47.  
  48.   Make sure that the interface cable is connected to the Interface Card and
  49.   also to the player.
  50.  
  51.   1) Turn on the player and then insert the Interface Card into your
  52.      computer's PCMCIA type II card slot.
  53.   2) Turn on your computer. Start Windows NT 3.51 and log on.
  54.   3) Double click the icon [Main] (in the Program Manager) and Double click
  55.      the icon [Windows NT Setup].
  56.      "Windows NT Setup" window appears.
  57.   4) Click [Options] and click [Add/Remove SCSI Adapters...].
  58.      "SCSI Adapter Setup" window appears.
  59.   5) Click [Add...].
  60.      "Setup Message" window appears.
  61.   6) Click [OK].
  62.      "Select SCSI Adapter Option" window appears.
  63.   7) Choose "Other (Requires a disk from a hardware manufacturer)" from
  64.      the [Adapter:] list.
  65.      "Insert Disk" window appears.
  66.   8) Insert the supplied Setup disk into drive A (or B), and click [OK].
  67.      "Setup OEM Option" window appears.
  68.   9) Click [OK].
  69.      "Select SCSI Adapter Option" window appears.
  70.  10) Click [Install].
  71.      "Windows NT Setup" window appears.
  72.  11) Click [Continue].
  73.      Start to copy driver, and then "SCSI Adapter Setup" window appears.
  74.      "Panasonic KXLC002 SCSI Host Adapter, for NT3.51" is added to the
  75.      installed list.

  77.      "Windows NT Setup" window appears.
  78.  13) Close "Windows NT Setup" window.
  79.      "Setup Message" window appears.
  80.  14) Click [OK].
  81.  15) Restart Windows NT 3.51, then you should be able to use KXL-D740.

  84. 4. Supplement
  85.  
  86.   (1) Playing audio CD on Windows NT 3.51 MediaPlayer
  87.  
  88.       If you wish to play an audio CD on the MediaPlayer 
  89.       through Windows NT 3.51, you must install the "(MCI) CD Audio"
  90.       driver program.
  91.  
  92.       ***Method of adding***
  93.       1) Double click the icon [Main]. (in the Program Manager)
  94.       2) Double click the icon [Control Panel].
  95.       3) Double click the icon [Drivers].
  96.          If you find the "(MCI) CD Audio" in the [Installed Drivers] list,
  97.          it has already been installed.  Please end this procedure.
  98.       4) Click [Add...] button.
  99.       5) Click the "(MCI) CD Audio".
  100.       6) Follow the instructions on your screen.

  102.       ***Method of playing***
  103.       1) Double click the icon [Accessories]. (in the Program Manager)
  104.       2) Double click the icon [Media Player].
  105.       3) Click [Device].
  106.       4) Click "CD Audio".
  107.       5) To play, operate the keys on window.

  109.   (2) How to remove the Windows NT 3.51 driver for KXL-D740
  110.  
  111.       Make sure that the interface cable is connected to the Interface Card
  112.       and to the player.
  113.  
  114.       1) Turn on the player and then insert the Interface Card into your
  115.          computer's PCMCIA type II card slot.
  116.       2) Turn on your computer. Start Windows NT 3.51 and log on.
  117.       3) Double click the icon [Main] (in the Program Manager) and Double
  118.          click the icon [Windows NT Setup].
  119.          "Windows NT Setup" window appears.
  120.       4) Click [Options] and click [Add/Remove SCSI Adapters...].
  121.          "SCSI Adapter Setup" window appears.
  122.       5) Choose "Panasonic KXLC002 SCSI Host Adapter, for NT3.51" in the
  123.          installed list, Click [Remove].
  124.          "Setup Message" window appears.
  125.       6) Click [OK].
  126.          "Setup Message" window appears.
  127.       7) Click [OK].
  128.          "SCSI Adapter Setup" window appears.
  129.       8) Click [Close].
  130.          "Windows NT Setup" window appears.
  131.       9) Close "Windows NT Setup" window.
  132.          "Setup Message" window appears.
  133.      10) Click [OK].
  134.      11) Restart Windows NT 3.51, to complete to deletion of the driver.

  136.   (3) "Plug & Play" is not supported by Windows NT 3.51
  137.  
  138.       "Plug & Play" is not supported by Windows NT 3.51, therefore, you do
  139.       not remove or insert the Interface Card while Windows NT 3.51 is
  140.       running. Whenever you operate KXL-D740 under Windows NT 3.51, 
  141.       please follow the steps below.
  142.  
  143.       Make sure that the interface cable is connected to the Interface Card
  144.       and to the player.
  145.  
  146.       1) Turn on the player and then insert the Interface Card into your
  147.          computer's PCMCIA type II card slot.
  148.       2) Turn on your computer. Start Windows NT 3.51 and log on.
  149.       3) Do not remove the Interface Card while Windows NT 3.51 is running.
  150.       4) Shutdown Windows NT 3.51, turn off your computer, and then
  151.          remove the Interface card.

  153.       If you don't insert the Interface Card for KXL-D740 during the
  154.       starting Windows NT 3.51, the ERROR message window appears because
  155.       Windows NT 3.51 try to load the driver for KXL-D740.
  156.       After you installed the driver for KXL-D740, insert the Interface 
  157.       Card whenever you start Windows NT 3.51.

  159.   (4) Installing Windows NT 3.51 using KXL-D740
  160.  
  161.       1) Boot your computer DOS. Install the driver for DOS.
  162.       2) Connect KXL-D740 to your computer, and reboot your computer 
  163.          to DOS.
  164.       3) Insert the "Windows NT 3.51 CD-ROM" in KXL-D740.
  165.       4) Change to \I386 directory on Windows NT 3.51 CD-ROM.
  166.       5) Type WINNT /B and hit RETURN key.
  167.       6) Follow the instructions on your screen.

  169.   (5) While Windows NT 3.51 Setup program is running, the display massage
  170.       will appear to add the mass storage device (SCSI adapters, CD-ROM 
  171.       devices, and so on).
  172.       But you can not set up KXL-D740 in this process.
  173.       After you finished Windows NT 3.51 Setup program, please follow steps
  174.       "3. Installation Instructions".
