  25.   In the fantasy ballroom of the elegant Sheraton Gateway, on
  26.   the Saturday evening of Warpstock Atlanta, you are invited to a
  27.   very special and luxurious event -- an alluring adventure of
  28.   Magic Moments presented in part through the gracious sponsorship

  104. IBM Licenses SciTech Software's Graphics Technology
  105. SciTech's Universal Display Driver to Be Bundled with IBM's E-
  106. Business Solutions

  108. Chico, California - October 11, 1999 -- SciTech Software, Inc. today
  109. announced that IBM has licensed a special version of SciTech Display
  110. Doctor, which will be distributed by IBM as the primary display driver 
  111. for
  112. all of IBM's OS/2 Warp based operating systems, including the Warp 
  113. Client,
  114. Workspace On Demand and Warp Server for e-business.
  115.  
  116. This marks the first time that any common PC operating system, 
  117. either desktop or server, will include a hardware accelerated, 
  118. universal display driver as part of the base operating system. Until now,
  119. operating system vendors have had to rely on overtaxed graphics hardware
  120. vendors to provide software driver support, resulting in inconsistent
  121. driver quality and infrequent or non-existent updates for the installed
  122. base of graphics hardware.

  124. "We're proud to partner with SciTech Software, because they are a 
  125. leader in graphics device drivers," said Cheng-Fong Shih, IBM 
  126. Business Line Manager for OS/2. "OS/2, with SciTech's universal 
  127. display driver technology, will provide our customers with a timely 
  128. and stable platform for their mission critical applications, 
  129. regardless of the display hardware they choose to use."

  131. SciTech Display Doctor provides true plug and play capability by 
  132. detecting the graphics hardware installed and configuring itself 
  133. automatically. It is not necessary for a user to determine what type of
  134. graphics hardware they have, locate the correct driver, fumble with
  135. install disks or use configuration utilities - it is all handled
  136. automatically by SciTech Display Doctor. The user can even swap out a
  137. graphics card or monitor and SciTech Display Doctor will dynamically
  138. configure itself for the newly installed hardware. These features make
  139. supporting IBM systems in the field much easier for IBM customers.

  148. to improve the OS/2 Warp platform's core "GRADD" display driver 
  149. architecture to increase graphics performance and compatibility. 
  150. The IBM PC Company, which manufactures IBM's personal 
  151. computer hardware, is also closely involved in this effort to ensure
  152. maximum compatibility with IBM branded hardware.

  161. charge, directly to its customers. It will be available for downloaded
  162. from the IBM's web site and will be bundled with future operating system

  165. Warp as an upgrade for users who need more advanced display features.
