- Acorn World Promises Product Launch Line-up
-
- Release Date 17th September 1993
-
- As the premier showcase for the Acorn community, it is not surprising
- that many companies have seized the opportunity to launch new
- products at Acorn World.
-
- Sherston Software Limited, the education software specialist, will be
- introducing its new Crystal Maze package, based on the Channel 4
- adventure game show. Using a unique icon driven system, the game
- closely follows the format of the TV show. Players can choose from
- four game zones - Aztec, Medieval, Futuristic and Ocean - and four
- categories - skill, mental, mystery and physical. Just like the TV
- show, time spent in the Crystal Dome will depend upon success in
- solving the puzzles in each zone.
-
- Oak Solutions will be launching a brand new morphing application,
- !Rephorm, designed to run on any 32 bit Acorn computer. This lets
- users create animations and still images by morphing between two
- initial 'sprites'. The user identifies a number of key control points
- on the start sprite and repositions them to similar places on the end
- sprite for example, the eyes of a person. The speed of the morphing
- process can be defined for each control point, allowing for subtle
- effects to created.
-
- Icon Technology will be showing new versions of its range of word
- processors - StartWrite, EasiWriter and TechWriter - at Acorn World.
- All three products have been made easier to learn and use by the
- addition of a 'point and click' tool bar and 'drag and drop' editing.
- In addition, StartWrite, for primary schools, can now 'speak as you
- type', when used with a compatible speech synthesizer. This facility
- is particularly helpful to special needs groups.
-
- With the theme of 'Vision for the Future', Acorn World is set to be
- the largest ever showcase for Acorn products and services worldwide.
- Taking place at Wembley from 29-31 October 1993, the exhibition will
- have a futuristic theme and includes a series of dedicated feature
- areas. These will offer a glimpse of technological innovation in the
- education, publishing, professional services and home business
- sectors. A high level theatre programme will accompany the
- exhibition, at which industry experts will give their views on a range
- of business and technical, educational and leisure topics.
