  10.             Rules for the Fidonet REPUBLICAN Conference
  11.             -------------------------------------------

  13. In compliance with Fidonet Echo Policy, the following will be posted at
  14. least once a month.  These rules are in addition to any valid Fidonet
  15. rules or policy.  They may be updated at any time by the Moderator.
  16.  
  17. ALL USERS WHO POST IN THIS CONFERENCE MUST AGREE TO ABIDE BY THE RULES
  18. STATED HEREIN AND ALL PREVAILING FIDONET RULES AND POLICY.

  20. This is the International Fidonet Echomail Conference REPUBLICAN. It is
  21. paid for by individual systems who help distribute it.  Please follow
  22. Conference Rules to help keep moving REPUBLICAN as cost effective as
  23. possible.

  25. The Fidonet Echomail Conference REPUBLICAN an echomail conference
  26. provided by the Fidonet amateur e-mail network.
  27.  
  28. General discussion of the Republican political party including policies,
  29. direction, conservative views and civil discussions are permitted.  Leave
  30. attitudes and personalities at the door before you come into the conference.
  31. Friendly, civil, and serious discussions are welcome.  Personal attacks,
  32. lies, flames, and the like are NOT welcome at any time.
  33.  
  34. No advertising is permitted.  This includes, but is not limited to,
  35. commercial products/services, BBS notices, BBS/other Files Lists. If you
  36. wish to claim an exception, please seek Moderator approval via netmail
  37. in advance of posting of such.

  39. Flames or obscenities are not permitted either in posted _or_ quoted form.
  40.  
  41. LEAVE MODERATING TO THE MODERATOR.  If you wish to chastise someone,
  42. then do it via netmail, or netmail the Moderator so that he can take
  43. action.

  45. If a Topic or Thread is deemed off-topic by the Moderator, then take any
  46. discussion of such to netmail.

  48. Posting "test" messages, is considered annoying.  Test your mail software
  49. in a local conference, not this one.

  51. If in the message header the "From:" field is an alias, then include
  52. your real name at the bottom of the message.
  53.  
  54. Moving mail costs SysOps money.  Duplicate headers, signatures and
  55. tag-lines are considered space wasters and should be avoided.  Please do
  56. not "sign" messages unless your header name is an alias or you wish to
  57. post your Internet Email address.  If you must use a signature and a
  58. tag-line, they should be: (1) limited to 4 lines, (2) limited to 240
  59. characters, (3) not contain "fancy ASCII-graphics", and (4) not
  60. duplicate information already in the standard Origin Line.

  62. When quoting, quote ONLY pertinent information to get the original point
  63. across.  Quoting entire messages, signature/tag/origin lines is
  64. very annoying.

  66. Discussion of routine Fidonet information should be discussed with your
  67. SysOp or NC, not in this conference.
  68.  
  69. Eight-bit ASCII characters (>128) or ASCII control codes are not
  70. permitted, either in the message header, body, or tag/origin line, or
  71. cut/pastes from screen captures.
  72.  
  73. Origin lines must follow accepted Fidonet Echomail Policy.
  74.  
  75. Although this conference can be distributed internationally, ENGLISH is the
  76. official accepted language.
  77.  
  78. This conference may NOT be ported to any other network without the
  79. express written permission of the Moderator.
  80.  
  81. Questioning Moderator Policy in the REPUBLICAN echo is considered annoying.
  82. Please use NETMAIL or Internet email. The Moderator is always open to
  83. discussion of echo policy and accepts suggestions and comments via
  84. NETMAIL or EMAIL.

  86. The Moderators may take part in active discussion in the echo without
  87. necessarily acting in any official capacity, unless the message is
