  12. This echo is dedicated to the discussion of professional basketball, not
  13. just the NBA. Professional basketball is defined as the NBA and all of its
  14. predecessors, US minor leagues, foreign leagues and women's professional
  15. leagues (Foreign or domestic).

  17.                              THE RULES
  18.  
  19. We're here to have fun.  If you're not a basketball fan, you're in the wrong
  20. echo.  Therefore, lets all try to have fun and keep things in as light of a
  21. modd as possible.  No flaming, personal attacks, or foul language is
  22. permitted. If you make a prediction about something, be prepared for a little
  23. ribbing from others - take it in the spirit that it was given (Ribbing DOES
  24. NOT mean demeaning or derogatory).

  26. Ok, I'd like to get off on the right track by telling you what will NOT
  27. be allowed. I think it's best to get this part out of the way at the
  28. start so there's no "But, I didn't see it."
  29.  
  30. 1. NO COMMERCIAL ADVERTISEMENTS, WHATSOEVER!
  31.  
  32. 2. NO BUY, SELL OR TRADE ADS!
  33.  
  34. 3. You may say "Join me on the blah, blah echo" if it relates to something
  35. that someone is talking about but don't go advertising your echo.
  36.  
  37. 4. You may NOT advertise your bbs.
  38.  
  39. 5. Direct postings of published material, i.e. magazines and newspapers, is
  40. STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

  42. 6. PLAGERIZING is frowned on completely. I don't care if you think that you
  43. will get away with it, eventually, someone WILL spot the work and call you
  44. on it.
  45.  
  46. 7. No signatures/tags should exceed 4 lines, and must be less than %25 of
  47. the message.

  49. 8. Taglines must be clean. This is a family echo where all are invited. Any
  50. taglines deemed crude by the moderator will deem a warning.

  52. 9. Please let the Moderator do the moderating. If a user is suspended, it is
  53. the Moderators job to handle the situation and handle the suspended user. You
  54. should always assume that the moderator is going to get after the person.

  56. 10. If you do not like what a user has said to you, please ignore it and move
  57. on. DO NOT RESPOND AS SUCH IN THE ECHO! If you MUST respond, do so in netmail.
  58. If this user continues to be annoying, you may send netmail to the moderator,
  59. and I will explain my reasoning why s/he has not yet been suspended, and I
  60. will take note of your complaint. If you are not familiar with netmail or how
  61. to use netmail, please confer with your sysop about it.

  63. 11. No fantasy league talk is permitted whatsoever.

  65. 12. No basketball card talk is permitted whatsoever.

  71. What will be allowed?
  72.  
  73. 1. Discussions about the NBA and all of its predecessors, US minor leagues,
  74. foreign leagues and women's professional leagues (Foreign or domestic).

  76. 2. Discussions about the NBA draft and college prospects is allowed but let's
  77. keep it from straying into a full blown college discussion.

  79. 3. We'll see as things go along.

  81. To talk Fantasy Basketball, ask your sysop to pick up FANTASY_SPORTS
  82. To talk College Basketball, ask your sysop to pick up SPORTS
  83. To talk about basketball cards, ask your sysop to pick up BB_CARDS

  85. Other sports echoes include: ML_BASEBALL, NFL, HOCKEY, SPORTS

  87. These echoes are available from his/her hub.

  89. If a person is found guilty of violating these rules, depending on the
  90. severity, the person will be subjected to the following disciplinary
  91. actions :
  92.  
  93. A) Person will be forced to watch Chris Dudley shoot free throws.
  94. B) 50 Echobucks fine and forced to subscribe to all Golden State Warriors'
  95.    games on Direct-TV.
  96. C) 100 Echobucks fine and 300 hours of Echo community service (You will be
  97.    required to clean the bird droppings off of Michael Jordan's statue
  98.    outside the United Center).
  99. D) 200 Echobucks and you'll be forced to listen to Peter Vecsey tell you
  100.    how he would make the NBA better if he was the commissioner.

  102. More serious punishments may result in:
  103.  
  104. 1) 30, 60, or 90 day suspension.
  105. 2) 6 month suspension
  106. 3) 1 year suspension
  107. 4) Total link cut from system for 6 months to a year.
  108.  
  109. If you are suspended, you have the right to appeal to the moderator. You may
  110. appeal as such via netmail or email, and state your case. The moderator will
  111. be more than happy to explain his actions, as long as the conversation is
  112. carried in a civil and mature manner.
  113.  
  114. The following users has been suspended :
  115.  
  116. Scottie Sprewell/Steven Rider, 1:202/333 or any address, under any name,
  117. until said person grows up (translation - LIFETIME BAN.)
  118.  
  119. Jack Feldman, 1:202/201, lifetime ban.
