  7.  1) GayNews  is  a  current news  discussion  for  Gays/Lesbians/Bisexuals/
  8.     Transgender/Transsexual.  Gaynews is for  the posting  of National  and
  9.     International Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender/Transsexual current News
  10.     Media  Articles.   Sexually  Explicit  Messages are  off topic  and are
  11.     grounds to have you removed from this echo.  This echo is intended  for
  12.     everyone, including minors.

  14.     The primary purpose for this echo is for the posting  of News  Articles
  15.     from the above mentioned sources, however, a small  discussion of  this
  16.     current news is allowed.  After a few rounds  of discussion  the thread
  17.     should be moved over to ICGAL  (Issues Concerning  Gays and  Lesbians).
  18.     This is the sister echo of GAYNEWS.  NOTE TO SYSOP's:  ICGAL should  be
  19.     available from the same place you receive GAYNEWS.

  21.  2) The SysOp is responsible for all messages  that originate  from his/her
  22.     system.

  24.  3) As  stated  in  Echo  Mail  Policies,  No  messages containing  illegal
  25.     information or activities are allowed.  For those who don't know,  this
  26.     includes long distance phone codes, credit cards, etc..

  28.  4) All are welcome, but, those who tend to be 'gay-bashers' are  not.  All
  29.     participants in this echo are expected to act as adults.  No insults to
  30.     anyone will be tolerated.  Also, a close eye will be on the echo to see
  31.     that debates don't turn into senseless arguments.  If  you wanna  start
  32.     one, don't do it here!

  34.  5) Private messages are not allowed here.  This is mainly due to  the fact
  35.     that the echo is made for PUBLIC discussion.   Private messages  belong
  36.     in Net-Mail.

  38.  6) None of the messages contained  in GayNews  may be  moved to  any other
  39.     conference area, EXCEPT area ICGAL.  Nor shall any  message that  is in
  40.     another Echo be transported over to GayNews EXCEPT  area ICGAL  without
  41.     permission from the Moderator.  The primary purpose of this is minimize
  42.     message   duplication   from  other   Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender/
  43.     Transsexual echoes available on the FidoNet Backbone.  If a message  is
  44.     teleported from  the Internet  to GAYNEWS,  please remove  all Internet
  45.     addressing/routing  from  the message.   A list  of Moderator  approved
  46.     cross posters will be contained within these rules.

  48.  7) NAMBLA - any Pro-NAMBLA discussion is OFF LIMITS.  However,  how NAMBLA
  49.     affects the Gay/Lesbian Community is an on topic discussion, if  I find
  50.     that any  abuse to  this rule  I will  go back  to the  former rule  of
  51.     declaring all discussion of  NAMBLA OFF  LIMITS.  For  those of  us who
  52.     don't know NAMBLA stands for North American May  Boy Love  Association.
  53.     This group promotes sex with children.

  55.  8) The  official  language  of  FidoNet is  English so  therefore official
  56.     language of this echo is English, however, if  you feel  that you  must
  57.     post  a  message in  another language,  a English  translation of  this
  58.     message must, also be posted at the same  time.  It  is preferred  that
  59.     the English translation appear within the same message.

  61.  9) Spelling: Please refrain from correcting some ones spelling or  grammar
  62.     as not everybody has perfect spelling and sometimes  news articles  are
  63.     scanned into the computer via a scanner or some one  types in  manually
  64.     articles.  While most people have spell checkers, quite a few including
  65.     myself don't have a grammar checker.

  67. 10) Since Gay-bashing messages are off  topic, responding  to them  is also
  68.     off topic.  The Moderator and Co-Moderator, if any, of this  echo takes
  69.     care of this.

  71. 11) Please leave  the moderation  of the  echo to  the Moderator   and  Co-
  72.     Moderator.  All decisions of  the Moderator  is final.   If there  is a
  73.     question about the moderation of the echo please take it to NetMail.

  75. 12) Copyrighted Material may be posted  in its  entirety with  the original
  76.     source of  the article,  date appeared  in the  original appeared,  and
  77.     original bi-lines...  i.e.  say the Houston  Post had  an article  that
  78.     appeared 6/5/94  by Jim  Jones, the  first line  of the  message should
  79.     state: Article by Jim Jones as appeared in the Houston Post on  6/5/94.
  80.     As long as there isn't any financial gain by the  message poster  there
  81.     isn't a copyright violation (at least in the USA).

  86.  1) Co-Moderator's purpose - to act upon the Moderator behalf.
  87.  
  88.  2) No user may be removed from the echo except for gay-bashing by the  Co-
  89.     moderator without the Moderators  approval. If  user is  disrupting the
  90.     echo, Co-Moderator  may  use  his  or  her  best judgement  if the  Co-
  91.     Moderator hasn't heard from the Moderator within 2 weeks.

  93.  3) No Node may be removed from the echo without the Moderator's approval.
  94.  
  95.  4) The right to appeal: Sysops and users have the right to appeal the  Co-
  96.     Moderator's decision.  The Moderator will make a final  decision within
  97.     4 weeks.

  99.  5) Most of the moderation should take place via netmail with carbon copies
  100.     sent to the Moderator.  However, to show that the moderators are active
  101.     in the echo, enter a few moderator messages.
