  1. ECHO RULES                                     Last updated 02.JAN.97

  3.   GAMING ::: The International Personal Computer Gaming Conference
  4.  
  5. o The first rule of any echo is:  LEAVE MODERATING TO THE MODERATOR.
  6.  
  7. o GAMING is an echo focused toward personal computer game enthusiasts,
  8.   originating in Fidonet Zone 1, English is the official language.
  9.  
  10. o "Handles" or aliases are allowed but this privilege may be revoked
  11.   at the discretion of the moderator when an echo rule is violated.
  12.  
  13. o TOPICs of this echo are pc game play; gaming hints, computer game-
  14.   related problems, pc game assistance, and discussion (in general)
  15.   relating to personal computer gaming.
  16.  
  17. o Do not reply to OFFtopic messages.  Answers tend to perpetuate
  18.   themselves and lead discussion threads astray.
  19.  
  20. o Messages involving: software piracy, solicitation of cracks or codes
  21.   for copyright protection removal and circumvention, advocating or
  22.   indicating criminal activity, or blatent obscenities .. will not be
  23.   tolerated and the writer subject to *removal without warning*.
  24.  
  25. o Personal attacks (FLAMES) are unacceptable.  Do not respond to a
  26.   personal attack IN THE CONFERENCE.  Attack the issue, not the writer.
  27.  
  28. o GAMING is G-rated.  Foul, vulgar, or profane language in any form
  29.   is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in the echo.  And do not
  30.   quote profanity when replying to another's message.
  31.  
  32. o Limit QUOTING to those portions of a message pertinent to your
  33.   reply.  Keep quoting short and to the point.  Delete quoted tag,
  34.   tear, and origin lines when you reply.
  35.  
  36. o High ASCII characters are permitted; only in the BODY of a message.
  37.   Note: this area is for messaging so fancy artwork and signatures are
  38.   out, however charts/diagrams for hint purposes will be permitted.
  39.   Message "signatures" should not exceed two lines.
  40.  
  41. o Advertisements of bbs's, networks, or services are not permitted.
  42.   ANNOUNCEMENTS of new pc games; information or products relating
  43.   to them, are permitted on a *limited* basis.
  44.  
  45. o Buying, selling, swapping games (or anything else) is not allowed.
  46.  
  47. o Not all people spell or type well and to others English is NOT their
  48.   native language.  This does not invalidate their message.  Do not
  49.   make derogatory comments on another's grammar or spelling although
  50.   _friendly_ advice meant to assist will be acceptable.
  51.  
  52. o Since every instance of a problem arising in this forum cannot be
  53.   anticipated in order to formulate written guidelines, a ruling by
  54.   by the moderator of record can expand or supercede these written
  55.   rules or a previous ruling (should there be any conflict).

  61. o VIOLATORS of these rules will normally receive *ONE WARNING*,
  62.   in the echo or via netmail. A 2nd violation can bring a final
  63.   warning via NetMail in care of your sysop.  For an additional
  64.   offense your access may be cut at the moderator's discretion.

  66.   Appeals will be accepted by the moderators via NETMAIL only.

  68.   REBUTTALS to moderator messages, when posted IN THE ECHO, may
  69.   result in having access *cut* without further discussion.
