  8.    Rules based on those created by Miss Mona, creator of the Fidonet
  9.    GENDER Echo. The GENDER Echo rules are posted monthly. Gender Echo
  10.    rules Version 3.3:  This revision created : 10/14/96

  12. The GENDER echo is an open support echo and is not fantasy oriented.
  13. GENDER is for discussion of issues related to gender issues. These
  14. may be Transexualism, Transvestism, Crossdressing, or other related
  15. topics.
  16.  
  17. The GENDER echo is open to all that have an interest in gender issues.
  18. This includes behavioral specialists and counselors. The purpose of
  19. the echo is to be supportive and informative. Any group or BBS that
  20. wishes to advertise events or conferences that may be of interest to
  21. all may do so.  They may post the phone numbers for the principle
  22. contacts for these functions. Please, be sure you list the City &
  23. State - this conference is International!

  28. The GENDER echo is not a fantasy oriented echo, and messages relating
  29. to such are not permitted. What is needed is constructive input and
  30. positive support. Bashing or flaming of any individual is not
  31. acceptable behavior and will not be tolerated.

  35.  1. Foul or obscene language belongs on the street, NOT in this echo.
  36.  
  37.  2. Challenge the issue, not the person.
  38.  
  39.  3. Preaching is best kept to the pulpit and bible specific echos but
  40.     not in this echo, this includes any discussions related to any
  41.     religious philosophies or practices.
  42.  
  43.  4. If you disagree with the lifestyle, take your arguments to a more
  44.     appropriate echo.
  45.  
  46.  5. Please keep to the topic of the echo. Any communication not on-
  47.     topic will be considered annoying. Discussion of sexual activities,
  48.     posting of personal ads and/or proposals for dates and sexual
  49.     activity are not topics for discussion. When in doubt, please
  50.     netmail the moderator BEFORE posting. If you have a need of this
  51.     type of questioning you may ask someone for their netmail address
  52.     but you may not post anything of propositional nature here in the
  53.     echo without being deemed annoying. Replies to any such message
  54.     here in the echo by anyone other than the moderators will likewise
  55.     be deemed annoying.

  57.  6. Aliases are permitted and encouraged according to the policy of
  58.     the local SysOps. However, if problems arise with postings, that
  59.     privilege in this echo will be withdrawn. PLEASE NOTE: an alias is
  60.     two words that resemble a real name. HANDLES are NOT allowed - Big
  61.     Man is a Handle, John Man is an alias!

  63.     Revision on this rule allows only one exception to this rule: A
  64.     new member to this echo may request of this Moderator Monica
  65.     Jesensky (1:142/578), ahead of time in Netmail, the privilidge
  66.     of using a different type of alias if it is used to cover the name
  67.     of someone trying to keep other folks whom are desired not to known
  68.     their Trangendered status. This rule exception will be revoked in
  69.     the case by case status should the person exhibit negative reasons
  70.     for the use of such privilidge. There is currently only one person
  71.     with such privilidge granted here in this echo. While this rule was
  72.     created to stop negative folks from messing up the echo, it has
  73.     been discovered that there is reason for such exemptions when the
  74.     person actually has something to offer to the echo and does not feel
  75.     free to speak here otherwise.

  77.  7. Private messages are by nature of Fidonet echos NOT allowed or even
  78.     possible in the Gender echo.. so be aware of this fact.
  79.  
  80.  8. Crossposting any messages that have been in GENDER to any other
  81.     message area may be allowed as long as the message is quoted
  82.     entirely and in its original context. This includes postings to any
  83.     other message area in any other network. However, if you wish to
  84.     crosspost these messages on a frequent basis, you must obtain
  85.     permission from the Moderators first.

  87.  9. Messages from the moderator concerning enforcement of the rules are
  88.     NOT considered off topic, however, neither are they topics for a
  89.     general discussion by anyone other than the moderators and the
  90.     person whom is being addressed.
  91.  
  92. 10. EchoMail is a priviledge, not a "right". Play nice
  93.  
  94. 11. In the event of the moderator's "disappearance" from the echo for a
  95.     period of more than one month or inability to perform the functions
  96.     of a moderator, and no succeeding moderator has been appointed, an
  97.     election will be held in the echo for a new moderator. Such election
  98.     shall be accomplished by the simplest means possible. The ZEC may
  99.     assign a temporary moderator to handle the election and/or interim
  100.     during election. Nominations shall be made within 20 days.

  102. 12. That's it, except that if someone comes up with a new and/or
  103.     improved way to aggravate all, the moderators reserve the right to
  104.     make a rule to fit the occasion!
