  11.             "unnatural." Meaning "not from 
  12.             nature." "Freak" or "monster" would 
  13.             also be acceptable.

  15.     Bashir can't meet his eyes and sits down heavily on the 
  16.     couch. The jig is up and there's no running away from 
  17.     who he is any longer. The words come tumbling out of 
  18.     Julian -- it's a story he's never told anyone, but 
  19.     always thought he might, and once he starts, there's a 
  20.     rushed anxious quality to the tale as if he's glad to 
  21.     finally say it.

  24.             I was six. Small for my age. A 
  25.             bit awkward physically. And... 
  26.             not very bright. In the first 
  27.             grade, while the other children 
  28.             were learning how to read and 
  29.             write and use a computer... I was 
  30.             still trying to tell a dog from a 
  31.             cat and a tree from a house.

  45.             seventh birthday we left Earth for
