  6.     Bashir trails off, lost in the memories for a moment 
  7.     until O'Brien gently pulls him back.

  9.                     O'BRIEN
  10.             The treatments? Some kind of DNA 
  11.             recoding... ?
  12.  
  13.                     BASHIR
  14.             The technical term is "accelerated 
  15.             critical neural pathway formation." 
  16.             Over the course of the next two 
  17.             months, my genetic structure was 
  18.             manipulated to accelerate the 
  19.             growth of neuronal networks in my 
  20.             cerebral cortex. A new Julian 
  21.             Bashir was born.

  23.                     O'BRIEN
  24.             In what ways did they... change 
  25.             you?
  26.  
  27.                     BASHIR
  28.             My... mental abilities were the 
  29.             top priority of course -- my IQ 
  30.             jumped five points a day for over 
  31.             two weeks. That was followed by 
  32.             improvements in my hand-eye 
  33.             coordination, reflexes, vision, 
  34.             stamina, height, weight -- in the 
  35.             end everything but my name was 
  36.             altered in some way.
  37.                 (beat)
  38.             When we returned to Earth, we 
  39.             moved to a different city, I was 
  40.             enrolled in a new school using 
  41.             falsified records my parents 
  42.             obtained somewhere. And instead 
  43.             of being the slowest learner... I 
  44.             was the star pupil.

  47.             And no one ever suspected.

  50.                 (bitter smile)
  51.             There's no stigma attached to 
  52.             success, Chief. After the... 
  53.             treatments, I never looked back.
