  9.     O'Brien is sitting in one of the chairs, a little shell-
  10.     shocked, grappling with the news. BASHIR is explaining
  11.     what happened.

  13.                     BASHIR
  14.             Kira almost had us clear of the
  15.             asteroid field, but the deflectors
  16.             got overwhelmed. We were side-
  17.             swiped by a rock the size of this
  18.             room. A fuel pod exploded and
  19.             Keiko was thrown against the
  20.             bulkhead. She had a concussion,
  21.             broken ribs, internal hemorrhaging --
  22.  
  23.     O'Brien pales a little listening to this list of
  24.     injuries to his wife.
  25.  
  26.                     BASHIR
  27.             I was able to stabilize her -- but
  28.             the baby's autonomic functions
  29.             were failing.
  30.                 (a beat)
  31.             I had to find another womb for the
  32.             baby, and the only two people
  33.             available were Major Kira and...
  34.             me.

  36.                     SISKO
  37.             I think you made the right choice,
  38.             Doctor.
