11   INT. WARDROOM - LOUNGE AREA (OPTICAL)

	O'Brien is sitting in one of the chairs, a little shell-
	shocked, grappling with the news. BASHIR is explaining
	what happened.

					BASHIR
			Kira almost had us clear of the
			asteroid field, but the deflectors
			got overwhelmed. We were side-
			swiped by a rock the size of this
			room. A fuel pod exploded and
			Keiko was thrown against the
			bulkhead. She had a concussion,
			broken ribs, internal hemorrhaging --

	O'Brien pales a little listening to this list of
	injuries to his wife.

					BASHIR
			I was able to stabilize her -- but
			the baby's autonomic functions
			were failing.
				(a beat)
			I had to find another womb for the
			baby, and the only two people
			available were Major Kira and...
			me.

					SISKO
			I think you made the right choice,
			Doctor.

	O'Brien is struggling with all this.
