  19. |    A. FREQUENT PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS                       |

  23. |    TRANS010 - Listed below are various possible causes      |                 
  24. |               and solutions to the TRANS010 error.          |                 
  25. |                                                             |                 
  26. |  a. IND$FILE is not at the correct level. To determine      |                 
  27. |     whether IND$FILE is at the correct level. At the host   |                 
  28. |     prompt type IND$FILE. If you get a panel stating the    |                 
  29. |     program and version, the level is fine, if nothing,     |                 
  30. |     then IND$FILE is downlevel. The correct level for       |                 
  31. |     IND$FILE IS 1.1.1. Until PC FILE TRANSFER can be        |                 
  32. |     upgraded on the host, set BUFFERSIZE OVERRIDE=2K.       |                 
  33. |     CMSETUP > 3270 EMULATION > Select session and open      |                 
  34. |     it, then under OPTIONS select DATA TRANSFER BUFFER      |                 
  35. |     SIZE OVERRIDE, then select the radio button SPECIFIC    |                 
  36. |     and change to 2K.                                       |                 
  37. |                                                             |                 
  38. |  b. A TRANS010 can also imply that the SEND/RECEIVE syntax  |                 
  39. |     is wrong. Refer to the Command Reference publication    |                 
  40. |     or the OS/2 Online Help.                                |                 
  41. |                                                             |                 
  42. |  c. Recreate the failure and jump to the host session.      |                 
  43. |     Is the cursor in the lower right hand corner of the     |                 
  44. |     screen? This placement of the cursor indicates that     |                 
  45. |     the query bit, extended data streaming is not on.       |                 
  46. |     The PSERVIC statement has been defined incorrectly      |                 
  47. |     in the VTAM logmode table. In an LU2 environment,       |                 
  48. |     the 3rd character in the PSERVIC statement should       |                 
  49. |     be an eight(8).                                         |                 
  50. |                                                             |                 
  51. |  d. TRANS010 on file transfer to/from MVS/TSO host.         |                 
  52. |     When performing a file transfer with a MVS/TSO host     |                 
  53. |     it is very important that the host session be at a      |                 
  54. |     TSO READY prompt. ISPF/PDF or TSO Session Manager       |                 
  55. |     cannot be running.                                      |                 
  56. |                                                             |                 
  57. |  e. TRANS010 and keyboard locked in the middle of file      |                 
  58. |     transfer. Problem occurs when the one is in a           |                 
  59. |     protected screen application on the host session, a     |                 
  60. |     clear is issued prior to the IND$FILE command which     |                 
  61. |     resets the cursor location in the host session. In      |                 
  62. |     some cases, this problem can be caused by a field       |                 
  63. |     that is too small for the file transfer to process      |                 
  64. |     a command on the host. One should enlarge the           |                 
  65. |     unprotected space or use native TSO,CMS,etc...          |                 
  66. |                                                             |                 
  67. |  f. TRANS010 on file transfer to/from VSE/CICS host.        |                 
  68. |     Verify that the PTF for VSE APAR PN01653 is applied     |                 
  69. |     on the host. The VSE equivalent to IND$FILE is          |                 
  70. |     INWPCCOM and apar PN01653 modified it. For further      |                 
  71. |     information regarding file transfer and a VSE host      |                 
  72. |     please reference information APAR II06554.              |                 
  73. |                                                             |                 
  74. |  g. TRANS010 and TSO displays three asterisks (***):        |                 
  75. |     at the TSO Ready; prompt enter PROFILE NOINTERCOM       |                 
  76. |     then enter TERM NOBREAK.  This will insure "native"     |                 
  77. |     TSO mode.                                               |

  81. |     The problem may be that the BUFFER SIZE OVERRIDE        |                 
  82. |     is incorrect. Try 2K, if left to the default of         |                 
  83. |     zero, Communications Manager/2                          |                 
  84. |     will try to compute a default. To                       |                 
  85. |     change this go into CMSETUP,  3270 EMULATION and        |                 
  86. |     select a session and open it, under OPTIONS select      |                 
  87. |     DATA TRANSFER BUFFER SIZE OVERRIDE, then select the     |                 
  88. |     radio button SPECIFIC and enter 2K.                     |                 
  89. |                                                             |                 
  90. | 3. 05/26/93                                                 |                 
  91. |     TYPE 0022 SUBTYPE 00009008 in the FFST/2 logs. Check    |                 
  92. |     the system for other SEND/RECEIVE commands. If there    |                 
  93. |     are others, check PATH statements in CONFIG.SYS to see  |                 
  94. |     if the directories that contain SEND/RECEIVE commands   |                 
  95. |     follow CMLIB, if not, change the PATH statement so      |                 
  96. |     that CMLIB precedes the other directory. The subtype    |                 
  97. |     00009008 identifies DosExecPgm as the OS/2 function     |                 
  98. |     call that was attempted.                                |                 
  99. |     Communications Manager's SEND and RECEIVE does          |                 
  100. |     not use the DosExecPgm OS/2 function call.              |                 
  101. |                                                             |                 
  102. | 4. 05/26/93                                                 |                 
  103. |     CHARACTERS NOT TRANSLATED CORRECTLY. Transferring files |                 
  104. |     and translating from ASCII to EBCDIC or vice versa and  |                 
  105. |     the characters do not translate properly. The most      |                 
  106. |     common is the "begin braces" and the  "end braces"      |                 
  107. |     in C programs (Reference JR01104).                      |                 
  108. |     One may create their own code page. See the             |                 
  109. |     Configuration Guide, SC316171, Appendix A. One          |                 
  110. |     will have to send a copy of the IND$FILE to a local     |                 
  111. |     disk and change the translation tables there.           |

  114. |     One is able to perform file transfers on small files    |                 
  115. |     but receives IKT00405I and PROG727 on transferring      |                 
  116. |     LARGE files.                                            |                 
  117. |                                                             |                 
  118. |     Change the PSERVIC as indicated in the Host Connection  |                 
  119. |     Reference manual, on page 1-5, under 3270 Display (LU2) |                 
  120. |                                                             |                 
  121. |     Another solution is to change the 3270 profile          |                 
  122. |     Data Buffer from '0' to '2K' bytes.                     |                 
  123. |                                                             |

  125. |     Transferring files to a CICS host (MVS):  CICS requires |                 
  126. |     that the data transfer buffer size override be set to   |                 
  127. |     2K.  Otherwise, some files will be corrupted.           |                 
  128. |     No messages are received including the FILE TRANSFER    |                 
  129. |     COMPLETE message.                                       |
