  31. |    1.  HOW TO PERFORM AN CM AUTO-TRACE                      |

  35. | Follow these steps to use Communications Manager's menu                       
  36. | interface to AUTO-TRACE the problem being reported.                           
  37. |                                                                               
  38. |    1.  From the Communications Manager (CM) Main Menu,                        
  39. |        select the ADVANCED pull-down.                                         
  40. |    2.  From the pull-down menu, select PROBLEM DETERMINATION                  
  41. |        AIDS.                                                                  
  42. |    3.  From the Problem Determination Aids Menu, select                       
  43. |        TRACE SERVICES.                                                        
  44. |    4.  From the Trace Services Menu, select AUTO-TRACE                        
  45. |        SERVICES.                                                              
  46. |    5.  From the Auto-trace Services Menu, select SELECT                       
  47. |        AND STORE AUTO-TRACES.                                                 
  48. |    6.  From the Trace Type Selection Menu, select TRACE                       
  49. |        SELECTIONS with the space bar.                                         
  50. |    7.  From the Trace Selections Menu, select each API's                      
  51. |        and/or DLC's (Data), requested by the L2 SPECIALIST                    
  52. |        with the space bar.  After all selections are made                     
  53. |        press ENTER.                                                           
  54. |    8.  From the Auto-trace Services Menu, select SELECT                       
  55. |        AND STORE AUTO-TRACES.                                                 
  56. |    9.  From the Trace Type Selection Menu, select ADVANCED                    
  57. |        TRACE SELECTIONS with the space bar.                                   
  58. |   10.  From the Advanced Trace Selections Menu, select                        
  59. |        each EVENTS, requested by the L2 SPECIALIST, with the                  
  60. |        space bar After all selections are made press ENTER.                   
  61. |   11.  From the Auto-trace Services Menu, select TRACE                        
  62. |        STORAGE SIZE.                                                          
  63. |   12.  Set the Trace storage size to 16 x 64 and press                        
  64. |        ENTER.                                                                 
  65. |   13.  From the Auto-trace Services Menu, select ENABLE                       
  66. |        AUTO-TRACES and press ENTER.                                           
  67. |   14.  Press ESC to Exit the Auto-trace Services Menu                         
  68. |        and continue pressing ESC until you are returned                       
  69. |        to the CM Main Menu.                                                   
  70. |   15.  From the CM Main Menu, select the EXIT pulldown                        
  71. |        and EXIT CM.                                                           
  72. |   16.  From and OS/2 WINDOW, erase ERROR.DAT and                              
  73. |        MESSAGE.DAT from C: CMLIB sub-directory.                               
  74. |   17.  Start CM and recreate the problem.                                     
  75. |   18.  Repeat steps 1-4.                                                      
  76. |   19.  From the Auto-trace Services Menu, select DISABLE                      
  77. |        AUTO-TRACES and press ENTER.                                           
  78. |   20.  Press ESC to Exit the Auto-trace Services Menu.                        
  79. |   21.  From the Trace Services Menu, select STOP TRACE,                       
  80. |        COPY STORAGE TO TRACE FILE and name the trace file                     
  81. |        your "pmr number".TRC.

  85. |    2.  HOW TO PERFORM A NORMAL CM TRACE                     |

  89. |Follow these steps when running a NORMAL CM trace.                             
  90. |                                                                               
  91. |    1.  From the CM Main Menu, select the EXIT pulldown                        
  92. |        and EXIT CM. Using an OS/2 WINDOW, erase ERROR.DAT                     
  93. |        and MESSAGE.DAT from the CMLIB sub-directory.                          
  94. |    2.  Start CM.                                                              
  95. |    3.  From the Communications Manager (CM) Main Menu,                        
  96. |        select the ADVANCED pull-down.                                         
  97. |    4.  From the pull-down menu, select PROBLEM DETERMINATION                  
  98. |        AIDS.                                                                  
  99. |    5.  From the Problem Determination Aids Menu, select                       
  100. |        TRACE SERVICES.                                                        
  101. |    6.  From the Trace Service Menu, select Select traces.                     
  102. |    7.  From the Trace Type Selection Menu, select                             
  103. |        Trace Selections.                                                      
  104. |    8.  From the Trace Selections Menu, select each API's                      
  105. |        and/or DLC's (Data), requested by the L2 SPECIALIST                    
  106. |        with the space bar.  After all selections are made                     
  107. |        press ENTER.                                                           
  108. |    9.  From the Trace Type Selection Menu, select Advanced                    
  109. |        Trace Selection with the space bar.                                    
  110. |   10.  From the Advanced Trace Selection Menu, select                         
  111. |        EVENTS, requested by the L2 SPECIALIST, with the space                 
  112. |        bar. After all selections are made press ENTER.                        
  113. |   11.  From the Trace Services Menu, select Trace                             
  114. |        storage size.                                                          
  115. |   12.  From the Trace Services Menu, select Start                             
  116. |        Selected traces.                                                       
  117. |   13.  With the trace running recreate the problem.                           
  118. |   14.  From the Trace Services Menu, select Stop traces,                      
  119. |        Copy storage trace to file and name the trace file                     
  120. |        your "pmr number".TRC.
