  36. |    TRANS010 - Listed below are various possible causes      |                 
  37. |               and solutions to the TRANS010 error.          |                 
  38. |                                                             |                 
  39. |  a. IND$FILE is not at the correct level. To determine      |                 
  40. |     whether IND$FILE is at the correct level. At the host   |                 
  41. |     prompt type IND$FILE. If you get a panel stating the    |                 
  42. |     program and version, the level is fine, if nothing,     |                 
  43. |     then IND$FILE is downlevel. The correct level for       |                 
  44. |     IND$FILE IS 1.1.1. Until PC FILE TRANSFER can be        |                 
  45. |     upgraded on the host, set BUFFERSIZE OVERRIDE=2K.       |                 
  46. |     ADVANCED > CONFIGURATION > 3270 FEATURE PROFILES        |                 
  47. |                                                             |                 
  48. |  b. A TRANS010 can also imply that the SEND/RECEIVE syntax  |                 
  49. |     is wrong. Refer to the Command Reference publication    |                 
  50. |     or the OS/2 Online Help.                                |                 
  51. |                                                             |                 
  52. |  c. Recreate the failure and jump to the host session.      |                 
  53. |     Is the cursor in the lower right hand corner of the     |                 
  54. |     screen? This placement of the cursor indicates that     |                 
  55. |     the query bit, extended data streaming is not on.       |                 
  56. |     The PSERVIC statement has been defined incorrectly      |                 
  57. |     in the VTAM logmode table. In an LU2 environment,       |                 
  58. |     the 3rd character in the PSERVIC statement should       |                 
  59. |     be an eight(8).                                         |                 
  60. |                                                             |                 
  61. |  d. TRANS010 on file transfer to/from MVS/TSO host.         |                 
  62. |     When performing a file transfer with a MVS/TSO host     |                 
  63. |     it is very important that the host session be at a      |                 
  64. |     TSO READY prompt. ISPF/PDF or TSO Session Manager       |                 
  65. |     cannot be running.                                      |                 
  66. |                                                             |                 
  67. |  e. TRANS010 and keyboard locked in the middle of file      |                 
  68. |     transfer. Problem occurs when the one is in a           |                 
  69. |     protected screen application on the host session, a     |                 
  70. |     clear is issued prior to the IND$FILE command which     |                 
  71. |     resets the cursor location in the host session. In      |                 
  72. |     some cases, this problem can be caused by a field       |                 
  73. |     that is too small for the file transfer to process      |                 
  74. |     a command on the host. One should enlarge the           |                 
  75. |     unprotected space or use native TSO,CMS,etc...          |                 
  76. |                                                             |                 
  77. |  f. TRANS010 on file transfer to/from VSE/CICS host.        |                 
  78. |     Verify that the ptf for VSE apar PN01653 is applied     |                 
  79. |     on the host. The VSE equivalent to IND$FILE is          |                 
  80. |     INWPCCOM and apar PN01653 modified it. For further      |                 
  81. |     information regarding file transfer and a VSE host      |                 
  82. |     please reference information apar II06554.              |                 
  83. |                                                             |                 
  84. |                                                             |                 
  85. |  g. TRANS010 and TSO displays three asterisks (***):        |                 
  86. |     at the TSO Ready; prompt enter PROFILE NOINTERCOM       |                 
  87. |     then enter TERM NOBREAK.  This will insure "native"     |                 
  88. |     TSO mode.                                               |                 
  89. |                                                             |

  92. |     The problem may be that the BUFFER SIZE OVERRIDE        |                 
  93. |     is incorrect. Try 2K, if left to the default of         |                 
  94. |     zero, CM will try to compute a default. To              |                 
  95. |     change this go into ADVANCED > CONFIGURATION >          |                 
  96. |     3270 FEATURE PROFILES. Select the Data Link Control     |                 
  97. |     used for the file transfer (DFT 3270, SDLC 3270, IBM    |                 
  98. |     Token Ring, etc.) DO NOT SELECT 3270 File Transfer.     |                 
  99. |     On the next panel select each session used for file     |                 
  100. |     transfer. Set the Data Transfer Buffer Size Override    |                 
  101. |     to 2K.                                                  |                 
  102. |                                                             |                 
  103. | 3. 11/02/92                                                 |                 
  104. |    TYPE 0022  SUBTYPE 00009008 in ERROR.DAT.  Check         |                 
  105. |     the system for other SEND/RECEIVE commands. If there    |                 
  106. |     are others, check PATH statements in CONFIG.SYS to see  |                 
  107. |     if the directories that contain SEND/RECEIVE commands   |                 
  108. |     follow CMLIB, if not, change the PATH statement so      |                 
  109. |     that CMLIB precedes the other directory. The subtype    |                 
  110. |     00009008 indentifies DosExecPgm as the OS/2 function    |                 
  111. |     call that was attempted. CM's SEND/RECEIVE does         |                 
  112. |     not use the DosExecPgm OS/2 function call.              |                 
  113. |                                                             |                 
  114. | 4. 11/02/92                                                 |                 
  115. |    CHARACTERS NOT TRANSLATED CORRECTLY. Transferring files  |                 
  116. |     and translating from ASCII to EBCDIC or vice versa and  |                 
  117. |     the characters do not translate properly. The most      |                 
  118. |     common is the "begin braces" and the  "end braces"      |                 
  119. |     in C programs (Reference JR01104).                      |                 
  120. |     One may create their own code page. See the System      |                 
  121. |     Administrator's Guide, 64F3046, Appendix F for CM       |                 
  122. |     EE 1.3, or Communications Manager Configuration Guide,  |                 
  123. |     S04G-1002, Apendix E.  One will have to send a          |                 
  124. |     copy of the IND$FILE to a local disk and change the     |                 
  125. |     translation tables there.                               |

  128. |     Customer can perform file transfers on small files      |                 
  129. |     but receives IKT00405I and PROG727 on transferring      |                 
  130. |     LARGE files.                                            |

  133. |     Host Connection Reference manual, on page 1-6, under    |                 
  134. |     3270 Display Workstation (LU2).                         |

  136. |     Another solution is to change the 3270 profile          |                 
  137. |     Data Buffer from '0' to '2K' bytes.                     |

  140. |     Transferring files to a CICS host (MVS):  CICS requires |                 
  141. |     that the data transfer buffer size override be set to   |                 
  142. |     2K.  Otherwise, some files will be corrupted.  Customer |                 
  143. |     reported that he received no msgs, but he did notice    |                 
  144. |     that he did not get the 'file transfer completed' msg.  |
