I have organised my Mailbox into subdirectories as folows: (you may
like to copy it or leave your system as is - you will have to alter a few
little items in the servers config files if you do not copy it, though!)
The basic structure is as follows:
ROOT -
|- BBS
|- MB -
|- DIS
|- DOC
|- FWD
PUBLIC -
|- Texts directories
Reasons:
The ROOT directory contains all the REQUIRED files of the root directory,
e.g. AUTOEXEC.NET, HOSTS.NET, REQXXX.DAT, etc, etc
\BBS is where all the message files and the WORKING copies of the .MB W0RLI
configuration files live.
\MB is where all the EXECUTABLE W0RLI mailbox files, server files, server
config files and COPIES of the W0RLI .MB config files live. I keep copies
of the .MB files here to edit at leisure without having to worry about
SHARE locking files in the \BBS directory. When they are all edited to
my satisfaction I simply copy the .MB file I have edited into the \BBS
directory for current use.
\MB\DIS contains a series of files for DISTRIBUTION lists. I therefore specify
them in my CONFIG.MB file as being in this directory, e.g.
d * GBR C:\MB\DIS\GBR.DIS
\MB\DOC is where I keep all my .DOC files.
\MB\FWD is where I keep all my forward files. I do not specify all forwarding
parameters in my FWD.MB file, rather I get that file to "point" to
files in here. I therefore edit these and worry not about the FWD.MB
file... for example, I might have in the FWD.MB file the following:
FC0016GB7GUR
@C:\MB\FWD\GB7GUR.FWD
*** EOF
This saves a lot of agro, particulary if you have two or three entries
specifying alternative routes to the mailbox in question; the SAME file
can be referred to in every case.
Hope this is of some use.
73, Peter
