- <f1><c000> Do You Think
- They're Really *THAT* Strong?
- <f0> atari scene vs the rest of the world
- written by grey / mystic bytes
- ----------------------------------------------------------------- -- - --- ----
-
- Atari hardware is getting more and more exotic. Especially in eyes of the
- peezee community, which pumps a lot of money into their machines. They need it
- to be up to date with the latest software. There is no challenge anymore - if
- something works too slow they are pushed to expand their machine. This world
- is so boring with very hard rules. Rules which are unknown for us, the Atari
- community.
-
- That's right, Atari can't be compared to the powerful PC or modern consoles.
- Not to mention the amount of users, where our fujiland is like a small desert.
- But it has it's advantages. We know each other, we can support each other.
- We're a big family and atari scene is our 2nd home. I guess this felling is
- very exceptional and simply unfamiliar for the extremely huge PC community.
-
- Except my beloved Falcon and 8-bit Atari there is also a machine which fills
- most of the place on my desk. It's Windows infected... Oh yea', what a f*ckin'
- pc bastard you might say. Well, hold on. This machine is simply so huge -
- that's the only reason to be on the top. But only my Falcon is connected
- to the monitor almost all the time. I am using my PC only as a tool to release
- stuff for Atari machines or browsing the inet to find the latest software.
- And I know a lot of sceners who do the same use with their peezees...
-
- ...but I also know ex-atari sceners who (I am sad to say) seem to be fascinated
- with their peezees. When we meet somewhere, it doesn't matter if it's
- #atariscne or any party, they ask me if I've seen various PC demos. And they
- always have the same weird look on their face with wild open eyes when I reply
- I don't have any scene-related stuff on it. If they want to send me some "cool
- pc demos" then I ask them to support me with an article for Chosneck instead.
- Simply 'coz I DON'T care about pc scene and I don't find it of any interest.
- If some folk from that scene read this article by accident, then I would like
- to add that I have nothing against your scene and I don't live in hate of any
- creative ppl on any system. Winio/COBRA did me a presentation of the latest PC
- demos when I visited him but honestly... I wasn't excited looking at this.
- Maybe someone call me stupid now, but I really felt this way!
-
-
- "You think that I will change
- But you know that will never be
- I'm just that way and that's just me"
-
-
- That's right, the PC world has it all. Innovative scene-stuff, professional gfx
- tools, awesome games... Except one thing - a soul. Something that keeps
- Atarians with their machines; that let them release their dreams on the
- machine with such limitations.
-
- Atari is like a wine - the older, the better. While old PCs are only useless
- trash. Who makes a software for XT, 286 or 386 series these days? Who cares
- about their users?
-
- The final conclusion comes then:
-
- Do you think they're really THAT strong? I think you are wrong...
-
-
- Long live Atari scene!
