Date: 09 Sep 1997 16:20:44 -0700
According to the wire services, Seal's "Prayer for the Dying" will appear
on the upcoming (ugh) Princess Diana tribute album. I'm assuming it will
just be the single or album version, although other tracks are being listed
as "exclusive," so I suppose there's a remote chance we'll see a new mix or
a live version???
Thanks,

Interesting facts:
1) The site is apparently run by Andy Richards.
2) Andy has his own site at www.andyrichards.com.
3) There's another related site: www.spz.com -- at which Trevor Horn's bio
says he's currently in LA working on a new AoN album.

Yeah, www.ztt.com seems to hint at that pretty strongly. I guess we'll have to
keep checking it for updates.
If it really happens, it might be great. Then again, it might be Below The
Waste. I hope they try and turn things inside out again, but it was probably a
once-in-a-generation epiphany anyways.

Apparently, Seal got pissed off at TH's over zealous production. He might
well have a point judging by the fact that the album was originally slated
for a Christmas release (that's Christmas 1996), and now it's expected in
January 1998.

Hey Gareth, give me a break. Artistic license?
He says on the sleeve for the 2nd album:
"...Different songs, different locations and even different producers...."
Sound like more than one to me.
It's ironic that he then puts:
"He is in my opinion the only producer for me."
By that logic he is now out of work.

In case you haven't heard, 808 State is contributing a remix to an upcoming
remix 12" from Matador records of Pizzicato Five. Finally, my two favorite
things in the world have come together! I'll post more details when I get
them, but I know that the remix isn't out yet but should be released within
the next two months on vinyl only. From what I heard they are doing a remix
of Trailer Music from the new album, Happy End Of The World. It's sort of
like a wacky, cartoon music deep-house number. Should be interesting.
Also, I'd love to hear some reports from anyone who might have seen 808 play
this weekend in Los Angeles. I couldn't afford to go unfortunately. I hope
they will be coming back sometime soon.
Has anyone heard word on wether they are still on ZTT or not?
Also, has anyone heard any new news on the new AON project? Seal?
Thanks in advance,

Folks, I spoke to Matador in the UK last night... Apparently there
will be mixes from Eno, 808, St Etienne, Dmitri and several others on
limited edition 12"s over the next few months. These will then be
collected for a CD compilation at the end of the year/in the New
Year... Expect the usual P5 outlandish packaging!
I actually interviewed Konishi from P5 for DJ magazine last year
(on the release of Sister Freedom Tapes) and found we had
a common interest in Yoko Ono, someone who I think had a
major influence on Paul Morley and his early AoN/early ZTT
conceptualisations...

My God! Even Eno is getting in on the act! With 808 State, Eno and St
Etienne on the bill, these will be must-haves for me. Were you able to
determine if the same stuff is going to be released in the US, whether the
final CD rerelease will include *all* the remix tracks, and/or similarly if
the CD will be released domestically in the US? I want them, but can wait
if I have to, as long as I know there's something to actually be waiting for...
Still waiting for Bilingual+ from PSB and Earthling+ from Bowie to come out
domestically in the US, not to mention a cold day in hell....

That's a funny coincidence:
In the picture of Seal they've got on the MTV website
(http://www.mtv.com/news/images/s/seal970902.gif), he's looking a bit
like Mike Tyson! Hope he didn't bite his ear off... ;-)
However Seal's got nominated for the two-albums-in-a-row award for
working a record breaking time with Trevor Horn.
Seriously, I think 'Fly Like An Eagle' was already a rather good
production (sounding like a TCH-production) - and Seal did it himself!
(Not even using the skills of Nile Rodgers, who played guitar on the
track.)
So I don't think we have to worry about Seal's artistical future!
Cheers

Yeah, he saved himself a bit of time by not having to think up a title for

I just found an old issue of the Outside World on the web.
Does anybody know if this magazine still exists and if there is anyway I

Thanks very much.

Hi,

As the creator, editor and writer of Outside World, I would be very
interested to see it on the WWW. What's the URL?
One thing's for sure - no one asked me for permission before they
put it up on the WWW...

Although I dont plan to put out another issue this side of 2020, I'm
loathed to say the Outside World no longer exists....

Outside World was a ZTT fanzine that I set up in 1989.
The second issue appeared in the summer of 1990 and
got some nice reviews from people like i-D and ZTT themselves.
O-W lead to some pretty interesting things for me, like feedback
(www.feedback.com), 808's State To State LP, FGTH-Q,
the ZTT Tenth Anniversary releases/Zance etc.,
which were all direct results of Outside World.
O-W started when ZTT had become almost invisible, was buoyed
by their early '90s resurgence (and in its way encouraged ZTT
that folks were still listening) and then took on a life of
its own with all the resulting projects -- not least this
mail exploder, which was originally called OutsideWorldelectronic!
I once wrote a two page history of Outside World, why it started,
how it ended and some of the best anecdotes, which I'll post to the
list if I can find it...

I found a WIN95 ZXS program without the 5 min limit.
So, if you want to play it all night long, email me and i`ll
mail it to you.
Hope you enjoying it. Love to hear from you about it.
Regarding the Art Of Noise:
This on is on the Discography:
LP: 1984 UK (ZTT/Island; ZTTIQ 2) [statue ps; wrong track order on
back]
Well, first change it to this:
LP: 1984 UK (ZTT/Island; ZTTIQ 2 {A-1U-1-1} {B-1U-1-3}) [statue ps;
wrong track order on back]
because i found a second edition, with the right tracks listing!
LP: 1984 UK (ZTT/Island; ZTTIQ 2 {A-1U-1-1} {B-1U-1-1-1C}) [two silver
masks p/s; ZTT (continued) logo; right tracks order on back]
That`s for now.

Hello All.
I just managed to get my hands on the white label promo for Propaganda's
"Bejewelled" - something I've been trying to find for a long while.
However, the vinyl is slightly warped. It will still play back on my
turntable, but the quality is affected because of the warp.
My question is this: does anyone know any tricks to flatten out the record?
I'm sure this question has been asked 1,000 times by people in my same
situation, but I thought I'd ask as a last resort.
If anyone could help, I'd be glad to make copies of it on tape, minidisc or
CD! I'm desperate. Thanks!

Well, I heard from a source that if you take two pieces of thicker glass,
put the record between them so its smooched flat and put the glass out in
direct sunlight for a few hot hours, the record flattens out again.
However, I never tried it, but it makes sense! Anyone else???

I wouldn't recommend that. The weight of the glass would most likely press
the grooves closed. I would test it a few times first and check it
frequently.

I guess this right tracklisting is identical to the one which is
on the actual record in the statue ps as well? (That is the order as
listed in the discography.)
Then I would say listing the matrix numbers might be a bit irritating,
since it's just a matter of the different sleeves (compare with the three
different German sleeves already listed).
So I'd suppose this should just be added:
: LP: 1984 UK (ZTT/Island; ZTTIQ 2) [silver masks on velvet ps]
Not that I wouldn't appreciate some over-the-top matrix details... ;-)
Best Regards

A trip to the local Tower Video shop revealed that there are more than a
half-dozen compilation tapes (!!!) of "Red Shoe Diaries," so if there is a
god then Anne Pigalle has to be on one of them! Do you know the title of the
individual episode in which she appeared?
Several of the tapes include as many as three or four (I forget) episodes.
None of the tapes mentioned AP by name. Much as I enjoy soft-core porn, I
don't relish the prospect of renting every one of the tapes and
fast-forwarding through them to find Ms. Pigalle...

I got my hands on the first P5 remix 12" today (OLE 273-1), 'Conact'
remixed by Dimitri From Paris... 808 platter to follow soon,
presumably...
Rolf Harris is to release 'Sun Arise' as a single any day now. It
will feature 808's near-legendary remix which they completed some
years ago (roughly 91/92). Presumably now that they have left ZTT
they have taken the rights to use the track with them. ZTT
were never that keen to see it released on their label...
