I saw this too. (lol) I considered that at best one might get this item at one's doorstep a week
before its street release. And have paid a premium of at least $8 (including shipping) for that
honour. I'll just pretend I downloaded a file off the Internet and pretend that I've listened to it
everyday about 2 or 3 times on average and pretend that I love it (cuz, of course, no such file ever
existed for us to enjoy and entice us - that would be ILLEGAL!) and await my preorder from CDNOW.com
patiently so that I can wear out the digital grooves on it when it arrives the first week of July.
And I'll be at least $5 up on the deal, including shipping.

The labels have apparently been cracking down on promo sales through eBay,
which I think is utterly ridiculous. If they don't want these getting out of
the hands of the various industry weasels they send them to, they should
stop sending them out in the first place.

Subject: (ztt) Frankie Lives Again???
I just heard from my brother, who lives in Virginia, that Frankie Goes to
Hollywood was advertised in the list of performers at something called the
"Fairfax Fair" in Fairfax County last weekend (June 12/13). He said that the
advertising actually listed the group as "Frankie Goes to Hollywood," not as
"FGTH" or another cover-band name.
I thought he must be nuts, but he told me to go to this address (which may
not still be up by the time you read this message):
http://www.fairfaxfair.com/index1.htm
Sure enough, on Saturday the 12th at 6:30pm on the "Bud Stage," it lists
Frankie Goes to Hollywood as one of the performers!
May I discreetly ask if anyone here has any idea just what the hell somebody
is trying to pull? Somehow, I don't think that Holly, Paul and the lads got
back together to play at places like the "Fairfax Fair"...

Subject: (ztt) modern english orig. lineup is touring / FGTH
www.fairfaxfair.com has them (modern english AND frankie goes to
hollywood)
the manager wrote me back when i asked about the frankie goes to
hollywood show and its not being the 'real' group and his reply is noted
below.... Barry was nice enough to write back and explain as best he
could the situation and who their management company is.
i dont know if they are doing other dates or where. (modern english)
It is true that Holly Johnson was not with the band (he has been ill for
years, but I understand he is pursuing a solo career at this time);
however,
our understanding was that one of the originals was one of the originals
was, in fact, part of this line-up.
Contractually, we booked and billed the show as "Frankie Goes to
Hollywood -
Relaxed" - the current touring name for this group. We knew from the
start
that Holly Johnson would not be a part of the line-up and had the same
reservations that you now appear to have. We actually had decided not
to
book them unless we got another 80's band with a little more credibility
(of
original members) to be part of the same bill -- that's where Modern
English
came in to the picture.
Modern English is actually the original band (although like most bands
there
have been changes in the line-up over the years) and they did a great
show!
They're doing the Festival circuit this year and have performed at very
large events in Charlotte and Atlanta during the past two months, in
addition to our show and clubs up and down the East Coast.
The Frankie show was a good one, but we decided that as they were the
opening act on a 3-group bill that it would be just a 45-minute set -
Modern
English did an hour and Fastball 75 minutes.
Finally, insofar as it being unfair to the "real band," our
understanding is
that what we had here was actually the closest thing to it (without
having
Holly Johnson). It appears that you think otherwise based upon your
information about them in Florida - I would love to know more about
that.
We knew what we had was not the original, but also recognized that even
as a
tribute band that we would still have a good show. If you have
knowledge
that none are orignial members, please contact me with that info. As I
said, we were under the impression that there was one originial
remaining
with this group.
If you're still interested, their representation is by Mountain
Entertainment. Thanks for the interest.

Subject: Bud stage show...
Barry
I'm not sure if you or Beverly would be the one to contact, but I was
intrigued by one of the shows on your Bud stage
on june 12, Frankie Goes to Hollywood.
This is not the real band from the 80's, but rather a tribute/cover band
that seems to have been doing alot of shows in Florida.
The lead singer is not Holly Johnson and none of the other band members
are original band members.
I'm curious who their management is. I do hear they put on a good show,
but it's really unfair to the real band, who is being ripped off by this
act. If you have a contact, i'd appreciate hearing about them. I'm
undecided if I want to try and get them booked locally up here, or
contact them to find out what the real story is.
You do have some other great shows, too bad i'm in Poughkeepsie, NY !
Is the band "Modern English" the original band? I haven't heard of them
doing any recordings or tours in like 10 years.
Great to see Artists like Chad Brock and Mark Chesnutt on their too.
hope to hear from you

Hi,
I have the same 2x7" - on the second 7", there are remixes of The Chase and
Dr Mabuse. it's great! At this time, the German record company used to take
the original British pressing and put a sticker on it with the German order
number, so they wouldn't need to press it themselves.
Andreas Thein has released as far as know four singles as Rififi, the most
successful being their second release Dr Acid and Mr House. The first was
Accelere Mon Amour (a cover of an old tv series theme). Another cover
version followed (Shaft), the last was Big Money Noise.

Dear ztt'ers,
Thought this may interest you. I have a copy of my local newspaper (don't
knock them) published here in England. It has a review (reviewed
internally) of the 'Metaforce' single. It says WFW:
"Art of Noise - Metaforce (ZTT Records - out now) **
DISAPPOINTING return from the 1980s electro music pioneers. This is just
a regular rap, with the vocals provided by Rakim. It does perk up in the
final bars, but by then it's too late."
Apparently 'The Seduction Of Claude Debussy' is released on June 28th
here in UK.
According to Chronicle & Echo:
Ratings: ***** - Present these boys or girls with their Brit award Right
now.
**** - Excellent this should sell stacks.
*** - Pretty good worth investing in.
** - Definitely got to have taste for this one.
* - Why did they bother?
(Work this out yourselves)
... oh, and 'erm Scritti Politti Album out JULY 19th ... 'great'
Cheers,
John M.
