And then there's the sleeve of Kirsty MacColl's "Angel" single, which
is a close-up of a painting Holly did. Maybe the original has been
shown in the exhibition?

I think this was just an edit of the "We Don't Want To Die"
(picture-7") version done for the movie. I don't know if the soundtrack
came out on CD, but I doubt.
I haven't compared the versions too closely, but I didn't notice
anything new or re-arranged. I thought they had just left out the
beginning and the end. But maybe I overheared soemthing.

Great, I really enjoyed this! Actually I found most of the symptoms
apply to myself as well... except for #8, #4-#2 (I never thought it was
_that_ good) and #1 (well, until now)...
> Post other signs... I know there must be more!
Here's more signs:
1. You find yourself daydreaming of breaking into ZTT to get those
damn mastertapes and those unreleased mixes. (*)
2. You want to make a 3 hours long mix of WTTPD (using the tapes from #1).
3. You are identifying mixes by looking at matrix numbers, instead of
enjoying the music.
4. You have more than a handful of Relax 12"es. (If you're still counting.)
5. You get paranoid.
6. No matter what volume you start with, when listening to certain
classic ZTT songs you just have to constantly turn it louder and
louder every few seconds.
(*) Obviously they don't need them anymore, anyway. ;-)

Hmmm... I'm certain that summing up ZTT's archives on one CD
compilation could be about as damaging as Zance... True, there is a
stack of stuff not available on CD, but a lot of it amounts to
unecessary extensions of brilliant originals (IMHO) and would be a waste
of space, EG:
>7) Propaganda - (beta wraparound of) P:Machinery
>8) Propaganda - (echo of ) Frozen Faces
>10) FGTH - WTTP (Fruitness) from XZTAS7.
>11) FGHT - Warrior Of The Wasteland (Attack Mix)
Perhaps the best way to keep everyone happy, theoretically, would be a
series of CDs, along the lines of...
Zang Tuum Tumb Treasure Trove: Art Of Noise
Zang Tuum Tumb Treasure Trove: FGTH 1
Zang Tuum Tumb Treasure Trove: FGTH 2
etc.
Personally I would favour an incidental CD in the series (Zang Tuum Tumb
Treasure Trove: Incidental), which would include tracks like Hans
Zimmer's World Of Theory (Explode), Act's White Rabbit, some Nasty Rox,
Andrew Poppy's segments from Sampled, and other such obscurities...

What about the following:
1) Going to main-stream CD stores (Tower etc) and seeing a ZTT label on a
CD and HAVING to pick it up to examine it, even though you know it going to
be a standard issue CD such as Seal or something. Then you put it down
asking yourself why you bothered because you knew it wasn't going to be a
rarity!

I ALWAYS double-check copies of the Seal albums when I se them on CD.
I still haven't managed to get my hands on copies of those original
pre-remixed pressings, and you never know when something might find its way
out of some dusty corner of a warehouse somewhere . . .

The 'Moments In Love' 12" (and CD single) features a very short
outtake before 'Beat Box (Diversion 10)' and then another one (the one
you were talking about) introducing 'Love Beat'.
In contrast the singlette (to cowardly use ZTT terminology again)
reverses the order of the two tracks, leaving out the intros - but
therefore has a completely different studio-talk-w/effects link placed
between them.
It's actually hard to write down what they're saying, but I can offer

Subject: (ztt) Howard Stern and FGTH
On the Thursday (Feb. 12) Howard Stern radio show, Stern did a live spot for
CDNOW that made me prick up my ears (so to speak). For any non-Americans
reading this, Stern does a "shock-jock" morning talk show that is syndicated
throughout the US and in Canada. In the CDNOW commercial, he said (I'm
paraphrasing): "The CDNOW website is great for when you want to buy
embarrassing stuff that you wouldn't want to be seen buying in a store, like
John Denver's Greatest Hits, or...what was the name of that group that was
openly gay?" His co-host suggested Queen, but Stern said, "No, that other
one, they did that Relax song." Another staffer in the background said,
"Frankie, Frankie Goes to Hollywood." Stern said, "Yeah, that's it. Frankie
Goes to Hollywood. Or maybe if you want to buy some Judy Garland CDs..."
FGTH is one of my favorite groups ever, but I thought that exchange was
hilarious. I guess any publicity is good publicity...

Subject: (ztt) Release, Do It!
Hello!
Inspired by all the many postings about most desired, long overdue,
rarity-rereleases from ZTT here on the list, I also want do bring in
my ideas about all this.
The basic question is of course whether ZTT still owns the copyright to
the material in question (especially action series era). So let's assume
they do have.
In this case the question arises, what's the current release status of
the standard repertoire stuff (e.g. Welcome To The Pleasuredome, Daft)?!
Wouldn't it be a great opportunity, if the Warner reissues would have to
go out of print and vanish from the market? This would offer ZTT the unique
chance to bring out some decent rereleases, reprocessing their past.
However even in this case there's a small question mark regarding some
antique rare mixes: even if they have the rights to it, do they also have
the technical requisites to reissue it on CD? I mean, have they preserved
the master tapes in good condition? (Some of the 1993 Japanese CD bonus
tracks sounded quite poor compared to 80s CD-issues from ZTT.) But let's
assume even this is the case. So, everything could be so perfect...
Surely, it would mean ZTT had to invest some (financial) effort to get this
whole thing going. But I'm sure any distributor would be licking his fingers
for stuff like Frankie Goes To Hollywood or Art Of Noise (with even new
material in the pipeline).
So if all this preconditions are given (technically, legally, marketing),
the only decision to make is: WHICH TRACKS TO RERELEASE?
Knowing that this is actually a very difficult question, and to make it
easier for ZTT, I have here already performed this crucial task for them,
including the necessary research!
Here's my concept: Release all ZTT albums to a certain point (i.e. all
originally released until 1990). Supply all them with bonus tracks (or a
whole bonus disc, depending on the amount of essential material piled up)
to boost sales!
Maybe a marketing strategy would suggest to let the bonus stuff come only
with a limited first edition of all the rerelease-CDs - also good.
In the following I have listed my idea of what such rereleases could look
like. I selected the bonus tracks very carefully, including some very
rare and sought after (sometimes promo-only) versions, some only rare on CD
yet, some not really that rare but therefore essential mixes, and some
B-sides. And there's still left out enough material to keep the collectors
proud of their old original records.
I compiled all CDs to play around 70 minutes to leave space for some
completely unreleased stuff that we all don't know yet.
