  78. I think this was just an edit of the "We Don't Want To Die"
  79. (picture-7") version done for the movie.  I don't know if the soundtrack
  80. came out on CD, but I doubt.
  81. I haven't compared the versions too closely, but I didn't notice
  82. anything new or re-arranged.  I thought they had just left out the
  83. beginning and the end.  But maybe I overheared soemthing.

  146.    classic ZTT songs you just have to constantly turn it louder and

  176. compilation could be about as damaging as Zance...  True, there is a
  177. stack of stuff not available on CD, but a lot of it amounts to
  178. unecessary extensions of brilliant originals (IMHO) and would be a waste
  179. of space, EG:

  196. Zimmer's World Of Theory (Explode), Act's White Rabbit, some Nasty Rox,
  197. Andrew Poppy's segments from Sampled, and other such obscurities...

  223. rarity!

  245. I ALWAYS double-check copies of the Seal albums when I se them on CD.
  246. I still haven't managed to get my hands on copies of those original
  247. pre-remixed pressings, and you never know when something might find its way
  248. out of some dusty corner of a warehouse somewhere . . .

  319. outtake before 'Beat Box (Diversion 10)' and then another one (the one
  320. you were talking about) introducing 'Love Beat'.

  322. In contrast the singlette (to cowardly use ZTT terminology again)
  323. reverses the order of the two tracks, leaving out the intros - but
  324. therefore has a completely different studio-talk-w/effects link placed
  325. between them.

  402. On the Thursday (Feb. 12) Howard Stern radio show, Stern did a live spot for
  403. CDNOW that made me prick up my ears (so to speak). For any non-Americans
  404. reading this, Stern does a "shock-jock" morning talk show that is syndicated
  405. throughout the US and in Canada. In the CDNOW commercial, he said (I'm
  406. paraphrasing): "The CDNOW website is great for when you want to buy
  407. embarrassing stuff that you wouldn't want to be seen buying in a store, like
  408. John Denver's Greatest Hits, or...what was the name of that group that was
  409. openly gay?" His co-host suggested Queen, but Stern said, "No, that other
  410. one, they did that Relax song." Another staffer in the background said,
  411. "Frankie, Frankie Goes to Hollywood." Stern said, "Yeah, that's it. Frankie
  412. Goes to Hollywood. Or maybe if you want to buy some Judy Garland CDs..."

  414. FGTH is one of my favorite groups ever, but I thought that exchange was
  415. hilarious. I guess any publicity is good publicity...

  454. was between Anne and JJ. I=92ve got an old videotape interview with her
  455. and JJ from the In Visible Silence era and the voices sound similar,
  456. though I=92m certainly not 100% sure.

  460. it=92s the best one I=92ve found on the net and is free. (Mac, Win32 =
  461. and DOS

  464. ripping all of my FGTH/AON discs to MP3 format so I can listen to them

  554. I have heard the term "albumette" (specifically, used in reference to
  555. "Into Battle" which is an EP) but not the term "singlette". However, the
  556. term sounds rather redundant, unless it is used in reference to a very
  557. short single.

  619. Propaganda group from the early 80's have reformed, minus one of the

  670. rarity-rereleases from ZTT here on the list, I also want do bring in
  671. my ideas about all this.

  673. The basic question is of course whether ZTT still owns the copyright to
  674. the material in question (especially action series era).  So let's assume
  675. they do have.
  676. In this case the question arises, what's the current release status of
  677. the standard repertoire stuff (e.g. Welcome To The Pleasuredome, Daft)?!
  678. Wouldn't it be a great opportunity, if the Warner reissues would have to
  679. go out of print and vanish from the market?  This would offer ZTT the unique
  680. chance to bring out some decent rereleases, reprocessing their past.
  681. However even in this case there's a small question mark regarding some
  682. antique rare mixes: even if they have the rights to it, do they also have
  683. the technical requisites to reissue it on CD?  I mean, have they preserved
  684. the master tapes in good condition? (Some of the 1993 Japanese CD bonus
  685. tracks sounded quite poor compared to 80s CD-issues from ZTT.)  But let's
  686. assume even this is the case.  So, everything could be so perfect...
  687.  
  688. Surely, it would mean ZTT had to invest some (financial) effort to get this
  689. whole thing going.  But I'm sure any distributor would be licking his fingers
  690. for stuff like Frankie Goes To Hollywood or Art Of Noise (with even new
  691. material in the pipeline).

  693. So if all this preconditions are given (technically, legally, marketing),
  694. the only decision to make is: WHICH TRACKS TO RERELEASE?
  695. Knowing that this is actually a very difficult question, and to make it
  696. easier for ZTT, I have here already performed this crucial task for them,
  697. including the necessary research!
  698.  
  699. Here's my concept:  Release all ZTT albums to a certain point (i.e. all
  700. originally released until 1990).  Supply all them with bonus tracks (or a
  701. whole bonus disc, depending on the amount of essential material piled up)
  702. to boost sales!
  703. Maybe a marketing strategy would suggest to let the bonus stuff come only
  704. with a limited first edition of all the rerelease-CDs - also good.
  705.  
  706. In the following I have listed my idea of what such rereleases could look
  707. like.  I selected the bonus tracks very carefully, including some very
  708. rare and sought after (sometimes promo-only) versions, some only rare on CD
  709. yet, some not really that rare but therefore essential mixes, and some
  710. B-sides.  And there's still left out enough material to keep the collectors
  711. proud of their old original records.
  712. I compiled all CDs to play around 70 minutes to leave space for some
  713. completely unreleased stuff that we all don't know yet.
