I gotta say that Beauty Stab is one of my favourite ABC LPs, there isn;t
a single duff track on there. It stands up today much better than
Lexicon Of Love on the songwriting front...

Subject: (ztt) Trevor Horn invention
Hi Trevors
Last Friday a DJ at Denmarks Radio made a feature on Trevor Horn. This DJ
is very fasinated by Trevor and how he was the first to use sampled break
beats to make new music. So he told the story about how Trevor used he's
inspiration from working with The Supream Team when he was producing Yes
Owner of a Lonely Heart.
This is really essential stuff for anyone who is interested in Trevor
Horn and how music changed by the use of samplers. That's why I've made a
copy of a selected part of the feature for everybody.
Check: www.kom.auc.dk/~sorenl/horn.zip (2,5 Mb MP3 sample)
Prior to this piece of the feature the DJ has told the story about The
Supream Team and how Trevor Horn had bought this new invention called a
Fairlight. In this piece it's shown how Trevor sampled three little pieces
(limited by the sampler) of a Funk Inc. record and used it on the Yes
track. It's very detailed and I think it's splented. The DJ speaks Danish
but I think the music speaks for itself.

My 2 cents...
If there were a "golden" disc flying around (and you know what I mean) I for
one would have to insist on the highest digital purity of sound - this is one
of the problems where the sound quality on unreleased (on digital format)
remixes tend to not have this high standard...
Be seeing you...

Hi Zangers,
Last saterday i bought the new Goldie album. A rather nice, two cd, bass
and drum oriented album which lasts 150 minutes. The third track of the
second cd is WRITTEN by:
Goldie, TCH, Dudley, Mclaren. Like the Prodigy-song (Firestarter) only a
sound-byte of "Malcolm McLaren and The World's Famous Supreme Team:
Buffalo Gals" can be heard.
Do I need to give more details for a discography or is it not TCH/ZTT
enough?

Subject: (ztt) cd recording
Suppose I were to assemble a sound recording (or two) and replicate it,
making it available to the group (and other ztt lovers, of course) at
cost. I can make cassettes with complete packaging and cd packaging but
not cds. Is there someone on this list to whom I could forward a DAT
master - in turn, that person could make the cds?
I'm not sure what prices would end up being, but the "list price" (no pun
intended) would be postage + media + packaging. For cassettes, that would
be about one U.S. dollar plus postage (which would vary by country). For
CDs I'm sure it wouldn't be more than five U.S. dollars but I really
don't know.
So if anyone out there has a CD recorder and knows how to use it
properly, please e-mail me privately.

(sort of continued from my last group message)
I'm not too much of a ZTTaholic other than the AoN stuff. So I'd like
everyone to send in a list of what they'd want on a 70 minute recording
which we could circulate amongst our selves at a reasonably low cost.
(I've already taken note of Mark Wasiel's list - even though it didn't
contain "Beatbox".) Then I guess the lists could be "averaged" to create
a satisfactory set list - or we could make 2 or 3 or 4 discs. who knows.
If anyone would be interested in remixing any AoN tracks drop me a line.
I'm not anti-techno but if we could not do any techno remixes, it would
set a new AoN compilation apart from FON and D&B.
Jeff

Maybe not, but it is still a vastly under-rated album. How could they
have improved on perfection? Lexicon is probably my favourite album
of all time.

Similarly to Jeff, I'm only *really* interested in Propoganda/ACT/Claudia
related rarities and non-CD tracks, remixes etc (and then ANYTHING I can
get of those, especially ACT). It sounds like the interest is there, but
for a number of different agendas....

More than perfect - it means that the very diverse ZTT compilation we
might make will certainly have a little to please everyone!!

Well, erm, it's either NOT "Absolutely Immune" or the catalog number is WRONG,
as 12 ZACT 28 is the gatefold-sleeve version of "Snobbery & Decay". Is that
what you're looking for?

Subject: (ztt) Two Tribes
On my Soundtrack LP to British comedy The Supergrass, there is a version of
Two Tribes that I haven't found elsewhere so far.
It is 3:32 min long and starts like the 7" mix, only without the spoken
intro. The sound is then a bit rougher, with noisy guitars, a bit like the
Surrender mix. The march bit is longer than on the 7". The end bit (are we
living in a world ...) is missing.
Does anybody know where this version is from, and has anybody seen it on CD?

Hello lost,
I just received the Japan version of Adventures In Moderrn Recording
from The Artist Shop. The label is Flavour. It's great having Fade Away
(b-side of ON TV), Blue Nylon (b-side of LENNY) and the 12" mix of I Am

More details later.
