  325. I know there are some Japanese music fans amongst you, so I have one little
  326. question concerning the 20 cds Seigen Ono box called Saidera Paradiso.

  328. I just bought it, mainly because the box contains a lot of old AND new (!!!)
  329. work including John Zorn... wich is good to hear him back in that old
  330. fashioned shape i.e. no massada stuff, no modern classical sounds... no,
  331. just his eighties melodic sax lines (like the stuff he did also with seigen
  332. ono on his made to measure release).
  333.  
  334. But I have one question concerning cds 3 and 4 from the box, called I went
  335. to Rio de Janeiro. These discs contains at first sight random street
  336. conversations from 1990 (as the booklet says). So I would like to know what
  337. was the meaning behind this (old) release. It does not contain any music,
  338. just these conversations.

  340. I know that Seigen Ono is into a lot of things (theater, dance, fashion
  341. shows for comme des garconcs), but these always include music... and this
  342. one does not.

  401.     For someone going to the show, refusal to play was probably the primary 
  402. problem.  They did play Oakland (Yoshis) on the 12th, as well as other west 
  403. coast dates, but no So. Cal. dates that I'm aware of.  This was the 2nd time 
  404. they played Oakland and the show was great.  They played many pieces from 
  405. their new Cd "Oh, My Dog" as well as quite a few Ellington Pieces.  It was 
  406. great to hear  Mengelberg on a good, well amplified, in tune piano for a 
  407. change.  Bennink made me laugh a few times; stirring a Yoshis tea cup for 
  408. percussive effect before pretending to down the tea, and wrapping the 
  409. curtains around his drumset before jumping out to scare people.  Moore and 
  410. Werbois are some of my favorite musicians on the planet, but everyone played 
  411. beautifully.  Definitely check them out if you get the chance.

  427. Barnett's house.

  599. is totally forbidden. How many states is that, actually? I thought that 
  600. Afghanistan was the only place were music was officially forbidden, though 
  601. it seems to be somewhat accepted since a few weeks ago now.
