This and its companion film Entrails of a Virgin are big cult items in
horror film circles. I don't think they've ever been officially released
in the US but bootlegs and import videos aren't hard to come by. They're
both the teens trapped in a house and killed by malevolent forces story; I
didn't think they were very interesting or imaginative (unless you think a
woman raped with a severed hand counts for either quality).

The new Brotherhood of Breath on Cuneiform is great,
I very much agree. Thanks to Cuneiform again for issuing it.
To these ears, it has more "free jazz" to it than
_Live at Willisau_, though this band always had something
of that element to it on all of the recordings I've ever heard.
Regarding the availability of other SA jazz:
Franceso Martinelli:

Does anyone know where to find these specifically? I tried
musicselection.com sometime back and they could not get them.
I did find the following websites for other SA jazz, but haven't
tried them yet(anyone have experience with them):
www.music.org.za
www.oneworld.co.za

As far as I know, there is only one vinyl pressing and it is from Earache (UK).
And yes, the picture was censored.

my technique (not really, it happened by chance) was to befriend SA
musicians in London, and ask them to buy copies of those during their visits
home, trading with Italian wine and parmesan cheese. Barter in the times of
the Internet....Roundabout maybe, but worked. Never tried any official
channels so I cannot comment on those; letters, faxes and emails sent to
addresses in SA, including Chris' brother's who is supposedly working on a
discography or some such thing, never got any reply. Never saw those Cds in
shops or catalogues.

i know this is a little off topic, but im looking for information on
avant-garde grafitti artists, the Harings and Basquiats of the new decade. i
recently read that a writer named "Revs" has been making flat metal
sculptures of his tag and leaving them in graf-rich areas in his city. if
anyone has links to sites that have updated information about premier
writers, itd be much appreciated.
also the covert art for UNKLE's album, Psyence Fiction, was done by a writer
named Futura2000. Any information about other musicians who have or are
currently working closely with grafitti artists would also be much
appreciated.

Yeah, defintely. For whatever odd reason, that's about all I've been listening
to over the past few weeks; post-punk, no wave, and proto-punk, mainly Wire,
Mission of Burma, Suicide, Glenn Branca/Theoretical Girls, Lydia Lunch/Teenage

I was thinking the same thing when I read the 'doing their best' bit: at
first I thought that was ironical. I will dig 'Downtown Lullaby' up, to give
it another try. I did like the Zorn/ Previte duet on the same label, though.
Perhaps I expected more of those miniature masterpieces, when I bought the
second Zorn/ Previte collaboration. I feel it's the right moment now, to go
back to 'Lullaby', and listen to it with fresh ears...

Once i talked with elliott sharp about this record and he didn't like
it so much, either. myself, i like it very much. especially the way of
improvising. in some ways it is similar to the "euclid's lightmare' cd
(Zorn / Previte), but it is not that noisy. i really don't know why
there are several people, who don't like it.
there should be a second cd of this group that is not released right
now. maybe there are more people who will like that one...

Wow, great, there's someone else out there who knows that record! I got my
Stickmen copy from drummer Jim Meneses, when he was playing midi marimba in
a Dutch-American Sun Ra tribute by Steve Horowitz Mousetrap Quartet; last
year.
Meneses mastered Ra's keyboard style by triggering samples with four sticks.
When he didn't play 'marimba sun ra keyboards', he constructed cool breaks
out of four drum samples, or he played some of the more regular marimba
sounds. It was very impressive, and I hope that the proposed 'Steve Horowitz
Mousetrap Quartet Plays Sun Ra live at the Bimhuis' will be released in the
near future.

Me, I've just discovered another classic many years after the fact: 'Deceit'

only listened once, and it reminded me a bit of Gang of Four on codeine...
