At least one song was played at all 4 of the shows, a couple more I remember
hearing at least twice.  With all the repeats, I'd be surprised if they
played more than the 13 different tunes that appear on the new album.

Hello.  I live in Virginia, and have been planning to catch Emergency
tomorrow night, even before it was announced, since I just had a hunch that
they would be playing.  I will not be arriving to New York until tomorrow
(Tuesday) until 'bout four or five.  I will be leaving here around 11:00 in
the morning.  I called Tonic today, and they of course do not do telephone
orders, so the next time I could purchase tickets through them would be at
the box office at 7:30 tomorrow night.  So, I called Other Music, who is
also selling tickets, and was told that they are going fast and there
probably will not be any left by the time I arrive in NYC tomorrow, and
therefore the box office at Tonic will be sold out as well.  Would anyone be
kind enough to pick me up TWO tickets for the Emergency/MMW shows Tuesday
night at Tonic?  I could meet you in the city at anytime tomorrow after 5:00
to exchange my monies for them. I would really appreciate the help, as this
is a highly anticipated show.  I'll be home tonight by 8:00, and I would ask
anyone that can help me out to call me at home so I'll know if I should make

Hello all!!

Just a whlie ago I found a mp3 file of the track called "The Stomp",
from the CD "Swift are the winds of life" by Rashied Ali and Le Roy
Jenkins Duo (AFAIR - re-issued by Knit Classics). Although it is mostly
Ali's solo playing (only intro and outro is played by both musicians), I
liked it a lot. What about the rest of this CD? Is it worth purchasing?
And of course, could you recommend me some more recordings of Le Roy
Jenkins, and of violin/drums duos as well?

I have been working in the woods for the past ten days and missed all
of the media coverage at the beginning. When I walked out of the woods
I tried to find video clips of the actual event I had been hearing
about and couldnt find anything online or on the tv. The only exception
is in the emotion stroking video lead ins on the news stations.

To withhold it is not right, but to keep showing it over and over isnt
right either. These times are very different, when I took this job in
the woods I left one world and came back out to another.

Sugar Cane's Got the Blues  -live at the berlin jazz festival (1973 =
basf) is a great album and has the added bonus of Robert Wyatt on drums. =
 would probably be hard to come by I imagine though.

hi,

has anyone heard the new sven-ake johansson/axel dorner/andrea neumann disc
on hatology?  also, how does this compare to the dorner disc on erstwhile?

i just picked up the new bjork disc, mostly because of the love this list
has for her.  it's very nice, especially the song "cocoon" (with it's warmth
and clicks & pops - i think i'm in love).  are there any other artists out
there doing similar stuff, preferably a bit more experimental and leaning
more towards ambient and down-tempo electronics?

also the new yoshiharo hanno (sp?) disc on sub rosa is quite good.

for those interested, the jazz record mart in chicago has some old hatARTs
left, back at their old reduced prices.  two weeks ago i picked up the
triple cd of morton feldman's "for christian wolff" for $9.99 and his "works
for piano 2" for $3.99.
