With respect to the Television media, I am also struck by the insensitivity
of various interviews with victims and their families by showing repeated
showings of the attack. I would think it would be unbearable for someone in
that situation having to watch their love ones die over and over again as
background image for their 'interviews.' It's hypocritical for the
interviewer to ask the subject to describe their pain - and then making it
worst by showing the planes crashing into the towers. I wish the American
network news stop fetishizing the pain and go into the cause of the attacks
as well as analyzing the U.S. and the World's response to the horror
incident. I get more thoughtful news via the Zorn list!

You can hear clips of the new Ribot album at www.cheap-cds.com The album sounds a bit like his other solo album "Don't Blame Me.." It's certainly not as ambitious as Fred Frith's "Clearing" CD, and as a Ribot fan, I feel a bit disappointed... Perhaps he should leave the abstract stuff to Chadbourne or Bailey... They probably do it better, although the "Book of Heads" was an achievement of sorts... I was personally looking forward to an album filled with material like the song "Mochin" from Zorn's Bar Kokhba release... The album probably sounds much better on an actual stereo (not my computer) and perhaps listening to the entire songs will bring about a change in attitude...

Subject: Guardian article (off topic, but...)
Hello.
Somebody mentioned that there is better news coverage on the zornlist than
in the American media, so I just thought that I should forward this very
interesting article from The Guardian. It touches upon an absolutely
essential subject, which it seems to me is fatally missing in the American
media. And there alot more to it than just this article.
