  86. "clearing" is one of Frith's best recordings I've listened to (I own about
  87. 15). Someone mentioned here the sound quality as superb but a bit close to
  88. ECM, which seems to me exaggerated.
  89. however, It's a relatively quiet improv album. There are subtle melodies
  90. (i.e: open ocean, the bow moon), extended techniques (i.e: chains) and noisy
  91. passages (the earth is a flower) but Frith's unmistikable style keeps
  92. everything pretty homogeneous and dynamic at the same time. The
  93. acoustic/electric combination and the overdubbing help make this recording
  94. really entertaining.

  96. It's really hard for me to describe such a personal record so go and buy
  97. it!!. I'm sure you'll love it.

  184. Now perhaps more nationalism is not exactly what is needed - as things seem 
  185. to be more or less unanimously described as an "attack on freedom and 
  186. democracy" on this end, as racist statements start to florish, under 
  187. Republican administration where racism is tolerated to begin with, and the 
  188. US are taking this as an act of war and will most likely strike back the 
  189. offenders as one country. But thank you for the tought.

  334. What I remember from an interview of Ikue Mori (in REVUE & CORRIGEE) is that
  335. she lost more or less the control of the recording session, and as a result, 
  336. the record is more of a Quine/Ribot project than a Mori one.

  382. to the empreintes digitales web site).  I'd like to know the names, and

  452. I was just at the towers last week, on my way to the ferry to the beach at
  453. Sandy Hook, NJ.

  455. I was awakened by my sister who called from Florida, and switched on the TV.
  456. I saw the second plane strike, and the first tower fall. I left the room for
  457. five minutes and when I came back, there were no towers left.
  458.  
  459. My girlfriend and I went to give blood, and were turned away because there
  460. was too much activity.  They took our phone number. Maybe tomorrow. So we
  461. walked down to the river and sat on a rock, and looked at a vast plume of
  462. smoke where those towers used to be. Anyone who's ever been here knows that
  463. you could see them from everywhere in town. Hell, we could see them from the
  464. beach at Sandy Hook. Just last week.

  466. We live in a Queens neighborhood full of mosques. Our Bangladeshi neighbors
  467. and I are all looking at each other with real sympathy. In general, Muslims
  468. in New York have been warned not to wear their religious garb for the next
  469. few days. This afternoon we saw a car full of rowdy white boys waving a flag
  470. out of their car, blowing their horn as they drove down the street in a
  471. small convoy, and we feared that things could get ugly real easily.

  473. Part of me thinks I'll wake up tomorrow morning and they'll still be there.
  474. Even as a non-native New Yorker, the thought that they won't be there makes
  475. me feel so cold.

  506. i have to say that when i was working as a temp in new york until the 
  507. brginning of this year (financial based work), i requested not to work at the 
  508. towers because i always feared they tried them once, it was only a matter of 
  509. time before they hit them again.  every morning, and everytime now that my 
  510. girlfriend and i go in to visit friends, i always loved looking at the 
  511. skyline of nyc, and the towers usually stood out above all else.  it will be 
  512. eerie to look at the pictures of the new york skyline that are everywhere and 
  513. see the towers, and not be able to see them when you are actually there...

  551. That's what disgusted me so much about the constant recycling of the
  552. footage of the little party that somebody thought to film in Arab East
  553. Jerusalem... the first time it was described to me this afternoon, it was
  554. with the words "they're all jumping up and down and dancing over there".
  555. Between that and a media-described (Canadian) expert on the American
  556. intelligence and military communities saying that he didn't think that the
  557. American public would necessarily bother sharing proof of anybody's guilt
  558. or innocence with the rest of the world before stamping mudholes, I'm very,
  559. very frightened about how the next couple of weeks might turn out.
  560.   Meanwhile, at least a couple of very brave New Yorkers took to the stage
  561. here in Toronto tonight and tried to keep everybody's spirits up in spite
  562. of what they must have been feeling all day long, so I want to give a big,
  563. public thumbs-up to the Def Jux crew just for showing up. Bush's lame
  564. speech aside, I hope that *this* is the sort of American spirit that we can
  565. look forward to in the near future.

  579. The twin towers are gone.  They're just gone.  I can't tell you what that 
  580. does to me.  I've lived in this city all my life.  I've driven past them a 
  581. thousand times.  I can see them from my Bronx rooftop.  When I used to take 
  582. amtrak home from my college in Boston I used to look out for them all lit up 
  583. with the empire and the chrysler and that big building that looks like a 
  584. pencil.  It gave me chills every time.

  586. I've been watching the story since 9 am.  It's 3 15 am, it didn't hit me 
  587. until now.  There was a van full of bombs driving across the George 
  588. Washignton Bridge.  There could be a bomb in every car.  My school could blow 
  589. up next week while im in class.  I just saw the footage of one guy rolling 
  590. out of a window backwards from 100 stories up and bouncing off the side of 
  591. the building like a crash test dummy.  A guy fell out of a goddamned window.

  593. I've never felt so safe anywhere as I do in this city.  I love the subways, I 
  594. love the dirty gridded streets, my whole life depends on them.  Now I can't 
  595. trust the subways.  All I wanted was to go to school today and I couldn't 
  596. even do that.  The subways were shut down.  It's school and I couldn't even 
  597. get there.

  599. And the twin towers.  They're not even there anymore.  Some jackass throws a 
  600. rock over a hill in the middle east and now this untouchable thing, this 
  601. permanent thing that's been there forever, that's been a part of everything 
  602. I've known about New York since birth, just up and fell down while I was 
  603. watching.  With people inside and firefighters and a guy falling out the 
  604. window.

  606. I don't know how I feel.  I know that I was tired all day and now my neck is 
  607. so stiff I can't turn my head more than 20 degrees in any direction.  I cried 
  608. a few times and couldn't say why.  I don't want to know where the nearest 
  609. bomb shelter is.  I don't want to learn the duck and cover method.  I don't
