  52. mostly second rate singers.

  54. (Gillan, by the way, didn't go straight from Deep Purple to Sabbath.  In
  55. between, I know that he had a band under his own name.  I never heard them,
  56. mind you, but they always had ads in 'Smash Hits,' the trashy British pop
  57. mag I used to buy back in high school for Adam and the Ants and Spandau
  58. Ballet articles and Kim Wilde pin-ups.  So did David Coverdale's
  59. Whitesnake - another Purple refugee there - when they had their power ballad
  60. hits in the late '80s, I always wondered if the girls getting all hot for
  61. Coverdale knew that he was older than their dads... geez, do I get nastier
  62. the later it gets or what?)

  64. Thanks, Jeton, for the advice about the Castle reissues.  I've long wanted
  65. to pick up the classic Sab albums on disc, but I'd been leary of getting the
  66. Warner CDs, figuring they'd be just as you've described them.  Glad to know
  67. there's an alternative, and Amazon's got 'em all, bless their hearts...

  103. metal, and the things that make me leery about checking out some of the

  183. This is "Live Evil," featuring the Ronnie James Dio line up.  The mixing of 
  184. this album led to the disintegration of the line up, Dio accusing Iommi of 
  185. trying to turn down the vocals, Iommi claiming that Dio went into the studio 
  186. after hours to turn them back up.

  403. I have their "A Sceptic's Universe" CD, and I found it to be too much
  404. of a Watchtower clone. The singer tends to be quite annoying as well,
  405. sounding like Paul Stanley in some sections, and the production/mix
  406. sounds uncannily similar to Cynic's "Focus"... still, it's much
  407. better than what all these not-so-minor criticisms make it sound
  408. like.

  439. France in October, not so far from my place.
  440. But, since it is still a few hundred kilometers from where I live and since
  441. I have never been to a dance show till now, I would have liked to have your
  442. opinions on this show: Anyone has seen ? Is it worth the price of the
  443. ticket ? How is the music ? How is the dancing ?

  446. October 13: Reims; October 16-18: Lyon ; October 20: Valence; October
  447. 23-24: Grenoble ; October 27: Annecy and October 30: Chambery (France).

  465. I can't comment about the Brown/Douglas happening since I haven't seen it.

  467. But: a few years ago, while I was living in London, a New York dance company -
  468. very famous, very highly regarded in dance circles, just can't recall their
  469. name - had a performance at the Royal Albert Hall, dancing to parts of Naked
  470. City's Absinthe, later to a live performance by the Arto Lindsay band (feat.
  471. Marc Ribot).

  473. I'm not into dance performances at all, but nevertheless decided to go to the
  474. show just to see Lindsay & Ribot. It did not convert me to dance, but I must
  475. admit that I did enjoy the whole show very much - it was great to see the
  476. dancing to music I like so much, and it did seem to somehow make sense...

  588. the only NAPALM DEATH records I care about and would
  589. recommend.

  592. part of how I got first got into JOHN ZORN.

  611. BTW the show was great, and i have all three parts on superb quality
  612. recordings on CD (the shows were broadcasted on the radio, but i managed to
  613. get copies  of original digital recordings). Any trades? (NO MONEY, in fact,
  614. i'd be able to copy it for free if someone needs it badly and don't have any
  615. boots for trade)
