  90. I recently acquired a few Tim Reynolds/TR3 shows on cassette.  After I =
  91. transfer them to CD, I am just going to give them away.  Right now, I've =
  92. got a 9.11.96 acoustic show on two cassettes.  It was recorded from the =
  93. soundboard and sounds excellent.  Some of the songs are "Chatterbox," =
  94. "Mercy Street," "You Are My Sanity," "Stream->Kashmir," "Loose =
  95. Interpretation," and "Samantabhadra."  Also, I've got a TR3 show from =
  96. 6.23.99 on two tapes.  The recording for this one was done with a =
  97. regular tape recorder, though, the sound quality is pretty decent.  All =
  98. the instruments are documented, though the bass is not very thick, and =
  99. the vocals are a little quiet.  Setlist is as follows:

  195. I second the recommendation.  Really great album.  My first introduction
  196. to Sclavis, and still one of my favorites, of both Sclavis and the Arcado
  197. Trio. (my other exposure to Sclavis has been with his acoustic quartet,
  198. which grew on me, and with some live trio performances with fred frith and
  199. j.-p. drouet, which are apparently freely improvised, but maybe they are
  200. composed?  lot's of humour in the music...)

  475. I have to be in the right frame of mind for Brotzmann, but you might try
  476. his more recent work with the Die like a Dog quartet.  PB has mellowed
  477. considerably in recent years, having much more of a dynamic range than on
  478. his classic recordings.  This quartet also includes Toshinori Kondo on
  479. trumpet and electronics, making this group one of the few PB groups which
  480. includes a significant electronic element.
  481.  
  482. If you like larger ensemble recordings, the 3cd set of the Chicago
  483. Octet/Tentet is great (haven't picked up the new one yet).
  484.

  504. anyone in NYC with nothing to do tomorrow evening should go check out the 
  505. Charlemagne Palestine show at the Sonnabend (sp?) gallery on 536 W. 22nd St., 
  506. starting around 8:30. admission is free. I'd suggest getting there early 
  507. though, since at tonight's performance, he played in a small, completely 
  508. jammed room, and late arrivals (including myself) had to sit in the adjacent 
  509. room, unable to see him play or get the full effect of his overtones. it was 
  510. still very good, though.

  582. Orchestra "Unza Unza Time" /Cabina rec./
  583. Emir Kusturica plays guitar.
  584. Material contains traditionals in "speed brass style", some songs from BCWC.
  585. Songs are sung, alas, in accented English, what IMHO is a little bit out of
  586. style.

  630. false persona even more so, but the motto of the record label made me
  631. abstain.  So I am left uncertain of what I would get should i purchase the

  677. if you're referring to where it says "infernal improvised music-play loud and 
  678. die", that's specific to this project, it's not a Grob motto.

  680. as for the disc, it's actually pretty straightforward. the musicians go nuts 
  681. for 70-plus minutes in a tribute to Masayuki Takayanagi, the brilliant 
  682. Japanese guitarist. if you've already got all of the essential Takayanagi CDs 
  683. currently available (I think the current list would be Call In Question, Free 
  684. Form Suite, Live At Moers Festival, and Live Independence) and this sounds 
  685. compelling to you, then give it a shot.
