Another fantastic release this year (or was it last?) is the Big Band
recordings... Ah... The Chesterfield Arrangements by the Metropole
Orchestra. It's fantastic.
Much thicker and deeper than his six man stuff or the Beau Hunks
recreations.

I just use these cheapie CD shelves I got from Damark, a cheapie mail order
place (damark.com). They hold about 600 CDs, I think and I have three,
which gives me ample room.
They were about 100 bucks a piece.

I do not have the thousands of CDs that some of you have, but what I do have
is this wonderful
300-CD spinner thing I bought @Tower Records. It puts 300 CDs conveniently
away in a plastic tower.
Those of you with floorspace might consider this handy option.
Then, I have several wooden crates for other stuff, and yet another metalic
tower for 100 more. Oh, and three rather tall piles.
Thankfully, my mp3 directories are far better organized. :)
Cheers,

That track, Cindy Electronium, is on Manhattan Research as well.

1) Yes
2) Depends on what you mean by out of print. I don't think Delmark has been pressing any vinyl for about 10 years at least, so probably that long minimum. When the last copies were actually made, I don't know. But For Alto hasn't been completely out of circulation. Cadence still had it for sale 3 or so years ago.
A must have album. I was worried that it may turn out to be one of those legendary historical documents that is far more important for what it is -- the first solo sax album -- than for the music itself. Thankfully, I was wrong.

Thanks for the info, Dan. And I agree with the last point. I'd never heard it before the other day, and what a revelation. There are some absolutely beautiful moments, especially on the 5th and 6th tracks.

What works really well for me are cheap 30" x 72" 5-shelf units, that I can get
as cheap as $30 sometimes at that corporate satan, Wal-Mart. Then I cut 30" and
6" (approx.) lengths of 1 x 6 pine to set into each shelf, to make it a
10-shelf unit. Voila, you've got 25 linear feet of shelving for under $50.
Small footprint in your music room, too. You don't even have to nail the pine
sub-shelves together; the width of the CDs underneath and the weight of the CDs
on top will hold them steady.

Wm. Crump
