  126. I got We's first album shortly after it came out and considered it (as a
  127. fairly discerning listener to/DJ of experimental electronica) a minor
  128. masterpiece - great studio trickery, good programming, really
  129. interesting sounds.
  130. The second album, on the first few listens, was indeed a MAJOR
  131. disappointment. I have grown to like it more, but I still find the drum
  132. programming on the whole quite stilted, somehow never quite getting
  133. flowing and funky enough (not funky as in "like funk music" but just as
  134. in rhythmically exciting), and the sounds are lovely but too much like
  135. moer of same from the first album. Not that that's a bad thing, but it
  136. could somehow be more _different_ of the same... (?)
  137.  
  138. I would recommend that anyone interested in the group get "As Is" first,
  139. and then go for "The Square Root of Negative One".
  140. Also notable are their remixes of Tipsy, on two different 12"s, the
  141. names of which I can't remember right now...

  424. OK, initially somebody told me about an upcoming Arto Lindsay record on a 
  425. Japanese label, without any mention of the title. I wrongly assumed that it was
  426. a different record than PRIZE. But today the same person told me that the title
  427. of this record was also PRIZE (and I exclude the possibility of a pure coinci-
  428. dence).

  430. There is of course the possibility that they slightly differ (modulo a bonus
  431. or mistery track), but what I wanted to say was that it was the same record
  432. with two pressings.
