  91. I went to see MASADA play at Buffalo State College 10/10/94 in a very
  92. small auditorium. I have heard that the college had a PA system for the
  93. group but Zorn had told them to take down the PA because for a room that
  94. small he would rather play without amplification. The group played the
  95. show acoustically ( which everyone seemed to enjoy except Greg Cohen on
  96. bass). Some pieces I remember them playing are from ALEF. Here are the
  97. ones I remember JAIR, BITH ANETH, TZOFEH, ASHNAH, DELIN, and JANOHAH. It
  98. was a great concert with only about 30 people there to witness how great
  99. they played. I remember ASHNAH being very haunting as the 2nd set
  100. opener.
  101. If anyone has a tape of this show or any other MASADA shows  I would
  102. love to one get some.

  156. This disc is actually out. I bought it last week. It's a collection of
  157. guitar duets, half with Ribot, half with Chadbourne. I've only listened
  158. to it a couple of times but I reckon it's pretty good. There are about 4
  159. Ornette tunes on it, the usual mix of improv tweezing and plinking, some
  160. rock type riff stuff and a Chadbourne C&W song. Chadbourne is mostly on
  161. 'serious' form and Ribot is pretty much his usual self-which is no bad
  162. thing. I know next to nothing about Akchote except that he's done some
  163. stuff with Derek Bailey (I think) and Fred Frith amongst others. The
  164. notes list his previous associations but only John Abercrombie springs
  165. to mind at present.

  167. The disc is another beautifully packaged Winter & Winter item,
  168. accompanied by lush photographs (landscapes and nudes) by a Japanese
  169. photographer who's name escapes me just now. The only reservation I have
  170. about W&W stuff is the cd carrying envelope, which looks to me like it
  171. will shred through use.

  223. and that would already total 5 discs.  To make a COMPLETE studio set, they
  224. would have to include live in Japan, making the set have 6 discs.  so what
  225. exactly is in this 4 -disc box set?  The web site didn't exactly clear this

  287. This is how it was explained to me, and I do not have the set, so I am no
  288. expert:

  290. Disc 1: The first two Painkiller albums on one disc (plus, apparently, bonus
  291. tracks?)

  294. Disc 4: The live set included in the Toy Factory 3disc release of Execution

  297. I dunno about the timing of the first two discs, but it seemed to make sense to
  298. me.  Of course, I've been jonesing for the Toy Factory release for ages, so it
  299. may just be wishful thinking on my part.

  484. my surprise) 'naked city.'
  485. here's something from the notes on 'the shape of jazz to come'-

  542. There really isn't much to say.  They are trading tapes right now...
  543. listening to each other's ideas... nothing concrete has really been
  544. established from my knowledge.  There is always a lot of speculation, but
  545. I wouldn't expect something for awhile.  I think they are all really busy
  546. with their respective side projects.

  578. coming out soon.  Is it true that Patton left Faith No More?  Id say its

  594. Yeah, the new SC3 is due out in March on Amarillo.  It is true that Patton
  595. said goodbye to Faith No More.
  596. Ummmmm.... well Patton is working with several musicians and doing his own
  597. solo work, (I'm sure most people are familiar with his 2 Tzadik
  598. releases) and he'll be playing at Victoriaville in May with his own 
  599. unit, and also with Zorn and Ikue Mori.
  600. Danny (percussion) plays with another band called Dieselhed...
  601. Trey (guitars, electronics) has several other obscure projects besides SC3
  602. such as Faxed Head and he is
  603. also on an upcoming Avant release called _Weird Little Boy_ with Patton,
  604. William Winant and others...
  605. Trevor (basses) has several jazz-related projects such as Junk Genius, the
  606. Graham Connah Group, Snorkel, and he plays on a bunch of CD's by other
  607. west coast musicians such as Ben Goldberg, John Schott, and Philip
  608. Greenlief, just to name a few.  He is also part of a really cool project
  609. called Tipsy that everyone should own...

  636. The duet with Frith is a 10" but the Bailey duet is 12" across, and heavy
  637. like a frisbee... what a slab of vinyl.  Feels neat and sounds pretty
