Date: 03 Jan 1998 02:31:04 +0200
Hi!
I was read this mailinglist more than year now, but this is first time
to write here!
I have my own little Yello-sites in
http://www.utu.fi:80/~eihapa/yello/yel-eng.htm (actually there is only
discography, because other fans maintain so good homepages)
Actually I have something to tell You!!!
I just put there one waw-file. It is taken from (Spanish) Max Mix 7 and
includes part on Megamix version (incl. The Race). It is only 8 bit,
cause of little hard disc space.
I will keep it there one month, and then I put something new. If you got
interested to have your own 12"...send via email to me. (I will only
trade some other material includes material of Yello).
One more...
Are you seachin for Space Adventure Cobra movie??
I can help you and make VHS-copy to you (hifi-stereo of course).
You have to only pay the postage and film.
I own original one and by the way, it was really expensive to buy (in
Finland).
Well... I know that my English sounds terrible, but I leaning all the
time.

Which reminds me that Yello/Bostich appears in a CD collection tributed
for Lara <?> who appears in Tomb Rider games. I don't know what version
of Bostich it is. The back cover didn't tell times and I didn't bother
to listen to the disc.

Well, well!! :-) Aren't we making illegal copies, aren't we?
The Space Adventure Cobra is available, for example, from England from
HMV or whatever it was. There is no need to make copies on your own.

Hi All,
Tremendous Pain video has been out for some time. I was in a Levi store
in Ohio and saw it playing on their video projection screen. I asked the
managers where they got that video and they gave me Levi's 800 number
(which I have since unfortunately lost). I called them and three weeks
later I received a videotape in the mail containing the video. It cost
me nothing.

Hello
I have just subscribed to this list and here's an introduction.
I have been a YELLO fan for years and finding their music in Tasmania is
difficult to say the least.
So if anyone knows where there is an abundant supply of yello CD's in Tassie
send me an E-Mail at nigel.allen@oa.hydro.com.au
My favourite Yello track would have to be the Race as I am also an avid Motor
sports fan.
Here's to Yello.

Date: 09 Jan 1998 21:44:33 +0100
A while ago I found a strange CD:
it has Excess AND Stella on one CD.
Both covers are featured on the front
to a golden background. Has anyone else
seen it? It has no info apart from track listing
and credits to musicians (with Mixing *Assistanse*
Ian Tregoning which indicates it was manufactured
in a Latin speaking country.)
The only "catalogue number" is COM.PAF 2810002
which is only shown on the CD itself. Strangely,
there is a "consumer's code" on the back cover:
4 004016 604005. Could this be an illegal CD?
Regards, Jonas Warstad

I saw the same in an ad from Lithuania ($9).
The number varies slightly as it states 281 002 which may be a typo.
Based on the other titles (non Yello) in the ad this looks like boot stuff.
At the top of the ad it indicates that they are all East European.

Hi,
After using and perusing an excellent yellow Yello
discography I saw the song `Unbelievable` mentioned. This is one
of the only major releases I have`nt got. I wants it. I needs it. Is
it really `unbelievable`? Does Deiter go all crazy like on `Haunted

it Boris who sings all that haunting stuff? I don`t care. It all
sounds perfect to me. Clouds. Love. Stars. Colours.

Not really. :-) It's mostly samples from The Adventures Of Ford Fairlane,
which can have its appeal I suppose but which doesn't do too well over
repeated listenings.

Not entirely true. It's an instrumental reminiscent of
the second part of Wall Street Bongo (B-side of Tied up)
and stands very well on its own. The version that surfaced
on the soundtrack was overdubbed (not by Yello) with
spoken samples from "Mr. Perfect" himself. In fact, when
Boris scored the music, there was still no dialogue and so
he didn't know what they were saying. JW

Let's straighten some things out here: the "Unbelievable"
12" has nothing, I repeat nothing, to do with Yello. It was
released without approval from the record company and
Yello, and was withdrawn soon after its release. And just
as well because the six mixes it contains are all remixed
and shot dead by DJ David Morales from Yello's original
version, and, therefore, have nothing to do with Yello.
Conclusion: the *only* "real" version available is the one
on the "Adventures of Ford Fairlane" soundtrack (and even
that version has some non-Boris vocal overdubs). JW

I've seen a similar CD not so long ago.
I think it came from a East-european country.
The one I saw looked like a regular Stella CD,
but it also featured the front of Excess in a small
frame and under the Yello box (In the upper right corner)
the "title" was written in purple: 2LP on 1 CD.
There was one song missing though - I think
it was one of the last songs on Excess...
At the time I was surprized to find out that it had only
cost a half of ONE CD. (So I'm sure that it was an
illegal release).

Yuri Chercasski.

As a native Russian, from St.Petersburg, I may say that I've seen tons of these
CDs all around here in Russia. They come in several flavors. The first one, that
appeared about a year and a half ago, is the one Jonas described. I bought it at
the same time it first appeared in St.Petersburg. There are also other
variations, like that described by Yuri.
>There was one song missing though - I think
>it was one of the last songs on Excess...
I should say that no songs are missing on the version of this CD I have. Both
albums feature just the same songs as the original legal versions. The times of
all individual tracks are also preserved. The total playing time is 78:18.

Yes, it seems so. As it's usual in Russia, you may find this CD here at about $3.

Hi,
Does anyone recall ever reading an article about an artist
or band that has outwardly credited Yello as being one of
their influences ?
I just put down an article where a bunch of (new) ska bands
mentioned that they all had roots in Duran Duran.
Surely some of these folks that are now trying to make it, or
have had some success in the music business have been affected
by the music of Yello?
Best,
Fred

Well I know from my home town (Detroit Michigan). All my big time DJ friends
that know Kevin Sanderson and Carl Craig. They all say that they are both
influenced by Yello. Also the little interviews on Hands On Yello Cosmic
Baby, Fluke and Carl C. Talk very highly of Yello. Then there were a few
like Moby (which I don't like any way) didn't have much to say. Seems like it
was just a job for them not like the great honor that we all think it would
be.

Dear Yello'ers:
I was watching CNN Headline News yesterday and they did a story on the
computer generated dancing babies, and while they were showing some of
the different versions a strangly familiar tune came across. Hey,
that sounds like Yello!
So this morning I did a search and found the Unofficial Dancing Baby
Page (http://baby.nwlink.com/baby.htm).
Lots of dancing babies here, but scroll down to Oh Yeah, Baby. And
you'll get about 15 seconds of dancing baby to Oh Yeah.
It's just some mindless amusement to while away some time!

>>Seems like the most elusive CD available from Yello!! I've tried the UK
company Esprit, who
have exstensive global links, who were unable to even trace it.
Last week I was sent a strange 'Yello CD Rom' from T. Baerkart, (originally
bought from Russia, (out
of interest I asked him if he could send me a copy.))
This item has been mentioned on the list before. It contains .wav files of
the albums Excess thru to PU. (Each a massive 50 - 80 MB!!) Also, it has 10
(bad quality) pictures of the album sleeves in .GIF format.
Because the whole thing is on a CD-Recordable, my CD-Rom Drive has
difficulty in reading it.
Thus, the CD Player "program," (an alternative to Win95's CD Player) won't
work. Each of the .wav
files has to be opened through 'Properties.' Due to the size of the files,
they stop after 60sec or so.
I cannot think why anyone would want to make or sell these.
P.S. Has anyone played Quake 2 yet??!!
P.P.S. I hope Oprah's butt gets kicked in court!!

Not quite an outward credit, but...
On Leftfield's "Leftism" CD, there is a dubby rasta track called
'Inspection (Check One)'. About 2/3 of the way through the song, I
swear I can hear a voice call out "Yello!" (as Dieter often does). Is
this a sample? Is this a tribute? Or am I just hearing things?

In my opinion, that opening credit sequence (with the Leftfield track)
was the best bit of the film!

I can't see Boris as the type to play computer games. It is Descent II for me
I love that game and quite good too.
I remember posting this but here it is again. (My observation) on the track
"MOON DOG" on the "Do It" single its a b-side. The sound in the beginning is
actually the sound from the movie "Star Trek the one where they save the
whales. But the sound of the Probe when you see the movie is an identical
sound in "MOON DOG"

The opening of 'Liquid Mountain' features a low hum, (that pans left to
right) that also
appears in the game 'Duke Nuke 'em'. Also, there is a sample in 'On Track'
(like a wailing
Indian type vocal) that I have heard on the Prodigy's 'Fat Of The Land' and
on several commercials.
There's no denying that there are hundreds of popular sample CDs available
for DJs to utilize. It's
inevitable that we hear the same ones cropping up.
Also, I'd just like to say thankyou to everyone who has so far replied to
my survey -
(sent to the list 21st Jan. (Wednesday.) So far I have had 22 replies. I
will present the data to the
list next Wednesday. As you can appreciate, the more subjective answers
given will have to be
narrowed down, with the most common 'phrases' or 'answers' being taken to
be the most popular
view. Looking forward to your further replies.

Subject: (yello) Yello Survey Results
Date: 27 Jan 1998 19:55:05 -0000
Well, here they are - the results of the Yello Survey; sent to
the list on Wednesday 24th January and collated over a week.
First, a few important points about some of the replies.
1) In total I recieved 32 replies from list members. In giving
quantitative results in percent, this would mean 1 person would
be reprasentative of 3.3% of the sample. So, to avoid any
misleading impression, the numbers of people are used in the results.
(A larger feedback,- then I would have used percent)
2) Remember that this is reprasentative sample; - not only of
the list members who didn't reply, but of the thousands of Yello
fans over the world with no access to E-Mail
3) Some questions (such as) If Yello are "typically Swiss - what does
this mean?" were mis-interpreted, in essence, with people thinking
that they were required to confirm my belief, that they were "typically
Swiss" (whatever this means.) I should have re-arranged the question into
something like - *If* Yello are (as according to several articles)
typically
Swiss. What does this mean?
4) Question 20 (Who would you regard as more talented than Boris Blank?)
was regrettably vague on my part, and therefore deserved the ambiguous
response. However, several replies consisted of the question.."In what
way?."
I appreciate that Boris would be multi-skilled in many aspects of life,
but this was essentially referring to his musical talent. However, Yello's
music makes defining music all the more difficult. So, in light of the
range of responses, my question was flawed.
5) With the more subjective answers, it was imperative I looked for the
highest scoring keywords/phrases. Also included are random quotes to give
a flavour of the kind of response.
6) Question 9 (Name your 3 areas of interest, should have been amended with
"in order of preference." I have taken the liberty therefore of listing
the interests in terms of word count. (not by 1st, 2nd place etc..) Sorry.

Reading
1 vote was cast for each of the following:-
Sociology, Astronomy, History, Writing, Tennis, Raquetball, Cycling,
Skiing,
The Environment, Art, Education, Media, Fun, Studying and "Take That's
Music" (!)
10) What do you think is Yello's message/philosophy?(if there is one):
4 of you gave the most common answer which was "Have Fun!!"
(1 of you added "but use your head!")
4 of you mentioned "Life" : -
(Life is magic/Consider all of Life/Life is a ride/Don't take
life too seriously)
4 of you stated that Yello did not have any particular message/philosophy.
5 of you commented directly on the music : - (They create
different worlds/great samples/innovation.)
2 of you mentioned that Yello make great Art from "modest
things" & "simple everyday confrontations"
1 of you said Yello were about Universality & Openness.
1 of you said that Yello's Philosophy shows that "Women are
slippery Customers"
*12 of you left this blank or entered "?"
*I think the last comment is hilarious (and partly true.) Ahem...
11) Is Yello paradoxical? And if so, why?:
4 of you did regard Yello as paradoxical **see below
5 of you did not regard Yello as paradoxical
2 of stated you did not understand the question
*21 of you either left this blank or entered, "?"
**Of the 4 of you who said they 'were', here are your comments: -
"Yes. They are built on contradictions."
"Superficially, yes. Their appearance does not align with their product."
Paradoxical in the sense that, "they should release CD's without any
limitation on availability or country."
"Yes. People who take them too seriously misunderstand their music."
12) Is Yello intellectual or fun?:
20 of you agreed that Yello is BOTH "intellectual" and "fun."
7 of you agreed that Yello is specifically "fun."
2 of you agreed that Yello is specifically "intellectual"
1 of you stated that Yello was "fantasy."
*Out of the 20 that said Yello is both, 1 said; "that's why they aren't
bigger in the U.S."
*1 person did not answer.
*1 person stated, "I hate the word intellectual. I have reason to.
Intellectual is the part of you
that stops listening to others and starts listening to yourself."
13) Is Yello political?: (Y/N)
There was a fairly strong agreement here: -
31 of you said NO
(1 of the above 31 added, however that whilst Yello are not neccesarily
political,
tracks such as "Ballet Mechanique is quite politically charged.)***
1 said Yello were political BUT; - "political in the broadest possible
sense."
***In light of the first comment, there seems to be a particular theme,
(inherent in
Dieter's lyrics), of his objection to "following the masses." Think of
"Assistant's Cry" where
he shouts his frustration at the crowd, or in "Excess" where the
Gorilla explains to the 'lost
souls,' that "they will not find the Excess in the jungle." In
interviews, he has commented that
he has "no big statements for the world." If Dieter does see the
development of the individual
as more important than the appeasement of the masses, maybe this
explains the answers to question 15.
14) In your view, is the progression of science or art more important?
16 of you believe that progression in both science and art is
important.
10 of you believe that progression in science is more important.
*1 of stated that, "Science has an uncomfortable way of making the
truth of yesterday the lie of today; just to change it back into the
truth of tommorow. It's not consistent but changes all the time....
When it comes to art, I would say it's all in the eye of the beholder.
In conclusion, philosophically I would say "Yes," [art] and practically
I would say "No."
**of the 16 that believe progression in both are just as valid, here
are a few comments: -
"They go hand in hand. One without the other is meaningless."
"Neither. They both have their role."
"One has a link to the other. Think about the invention of the
'Fairlight,'
and the music Boris has created with his sampler."
"They both co-exist."
15) Why will Yello probably never have a number one?:
There was a fairly strong agreement here about why Yello would probably
not have a number one. Key words that cropped up were "Too complex" and
not "simple enough for the masses."
7 of you said that "Yello were either too complex/good or not simple
enough."
5 of you said that "Yello did not employ the marketing methods or
recieve the
right amount of radio air-play to get a 'number one.'"
3 of you said that "Yello are not "disposable" enough or do not employ
sufficient
"gimmicks" to achieve a number one."
2 of you stated that "Yello will have a 'number one.'"
1 of you stated, "Kraftwerk had a number one. There is no reason why it
might
not happen to Yello."
2 of you stated that, "Yello don't seem to want to." [have a number
one]
1 of you stated that, "Yello's music is actual music. Hit songs are
not."
*11 of you left this blank.
16) If Yello are "typically Swiss" - what does this mean?:
Here are some comments:-
"Traditionally independant, not terribly concerned with world affairs."
"They are always on time with deadlines. It means they've had military
training and if you fold them; they fit into your pocket."
"They are yellow and full of holes. They have lots of mountains and
no oceanic borders. They are well known for their fine precision
engineering, always run on time and come with multiple gadgets including
pliers, fish scalars and things for removing stones from horses' hooves.
I have no idea."
"Under a microscope they are as complex as a multi-bladed army knife; yet
from a satellite image they appear unsolid, porous; like the cheese."
"They smell of chocolate and are full of holes. They are quite mountainous
in parts."
"I don't think they are. Typically Swiss could mean they are
money-orientated."
"I never really thought of them as Swiss. Their music has an international
appeal."
"Clever, precise and retiring."
"Professional and precise."
*3 of you stated you didn't know.
*6 of you said that they were not typically Swiss.
(2 of these were based on the experience of meeting Swiss people.)
*1 of you stated, "you cannot make crass generalisations about any
nationality."
17) Do you think the Spice Girls know who Yello are?:
I think this was the question that rattled a few cages. Some people were so
outraged
that I had mentioned the 'Spice Girls' on a Yello list, that they wrote in
CAPITAL letters
to express their OUTRAGE and ANGER.
10 of you stated that the 'Spice Girls' do not know who Yello are.
6 of you stated that the 'Spice Girls' do know who Yello are.
5 of you didn't know who the 'Spice Girls' were.
4 of you replied, "Who cares?"
2 of you said "Don't know."
Of the 10 that said they didn't know, 1 stated, "No. But their producers
do."
2 people stated that the 'Spice Girls' didn't know who they were
themselves.
1 person stated that "Yello knows who they are."
1 person said they only know yello "as the colour of their platform shoes!"
1 person said, "Their quantum physics obsession rarely gives them spare
time..."
*I think here is a case of too much marketing and not enough substance!
18) After Pocket Universe, what sounds do you think we'll be hearing
in the next Yello album?:
11 of you stated that you "didn't know."
3 of you stated "more of the same"
2 of you said "something like Pocket Universe...."
2 of you said "more techno"
1 of you said "less techno"
1 of you said "more ambient/minimal"
1 of you said "more hard industrial sounds."
1 of you said "retro house/trance"
1 of you said "low bass"
1 of you said "anything"
1 of you said "the sound of the spirits"
*2 of you stated that in the next album we will be hearing more Yello
music. Really?! No shit.
**7 of you left this blank.
19 ) Who do you identify with most - Dieter or Boris? Why?:
12 of you identified with "Boris"
7 of you identified with "Dieter"
6 of you identified with "both"
3 of you identified with "neither"
1 of you said you "didn't know"
The word *fusion* was mentioned 3 times in your replies. This wasn't really
a question asking whether who was more responsible for Yello. It was merely
asking whether (in your opinion) you shared any personality traits with
Boris
or Dieter; and if so; which of the two were you more alike?
Dieter was described as: -
"Nice, intelligent, dignified, philosophical, human and extraordinary."
Of the 12 people who identified with Boris:-
1 of you stated that he is a "technical wizard who creates sounds."
3 of you who were musicians said that you respected Boris for his music.
1 of you stated that you "respect Dieter; but like Boris."
*3 of you did not reply to this question.
20) Who would you regard as more talented than Boris? (If anyone):**please
see note 4
12 of you stated that the question was impossbile/pointless.
6 of you stated that no-one is more talented than Boris Blank.
3 of you said that there are many un-known musicians out there who might
be.
1 of you said that "he himself" was more talented than Boris.
1 person said that "Dieter" is more talented than Boris.
Here are the suggestions by 7 people of musicians who might be more
talented than Boris: -
-Paul McCartney
-Karl Jenkins
-Brian Eno, Frank Zappa
-David Bowie, The Beatles
-Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre
-Kraftwerk
-Pat Methenty (Jazz Guitarist)
9 of you left this blank, - should this be taken as the answers "NO" or
"No comment"?
Well, thankyou for taking the time to reply to the Yello Survey. Please,
please
do not E-Mail me if you disagree with the points above. They are *NOT* my

Hello
I would like to thank(and we all should) James for this survey.
I found it extremely interesting to know what other big fans of Yello
thought about the group. Maybe we could do another one with other questions
that we all would like to ask.
Thanx James!

Hi all!
Thanks James for your great work with the survey. It was really
interesting and it also gave me some good laughs reading some of the
comments.
My favourite comments were
"1 of you said that Yello's Philosophy shows that "Women are slippery
Customers" " (No I'm not beeing sexistic, I just thought it was a
hilarious comment)
"They are always on time with deadlines. It means they've had military
training and if you fold them; they fit into your pocket."
It was also nice to see that there was a good spread in age and that
there are at least one female on the list. One question that could have
been interesting is if Yello appeals more to a male audience than a
female, and if so, Why?
Anyone?.
The list seams to be dominated by males. Actually, the person who
introduced Yello to me was a female, on the otherhand the first time I
played Yello to my wife (who wasn't my wife at the time), she asked me
to turn it of because it made her nervous. She thought it had a to
complex rythm pattern for her taste. I can reasure you all that she now
has grown to like Yello a lot.
On the matter of opinion and taste (and in the light of the limited
number of persons answering) were there any pattern in the answers from
different countries. I mean, did people from for instance USA answer in
the same way (like on the same favourite track, and so on)?
>*Forgive my ignorance, but what is "Desire For Desire?"
"Desire For Desire" is on the B-side of the 12" "You Gotta Say Yes To
Another Excess" Vol 1 of 'The Messages.

Date: 28 Jan 1998 02:21:30 -0800
I just happened to have finished cataloging all my Yello material and
setting up a nominal rating for the songs, so this is... Well it isn't
easy, but I did manage to cull 10 of my personal favorite Yello songs out.
1. Haunted House (Why was this never put on an album, it seems to be a
common favorite)
2. Pinball Cha-Cha (New Mix in One Go Version)
3. La Habanera
4. Stannztrigger
5. The Race
6 Let Me Cry
7. Live At the Roxy (from New Mix in One Go)
8. Swing
9. Bostich (from NMiOG)
10. Hawaiian Chance
There is a host of other songs just underneath, or deserving honerable
mention, but I won't bother as I'll take up too much space.
Some comments on the Yello survey;
It seems as though most people (myself included) discovered Yello from "Oh
Yeah," but don't include it on thier favorites list. I for one got a bit
tired of it. But, that's the "signature" tune.
Noone listed Claro, Que Si as a favorite. That seems to me to be the most
consistant of all the releases. It's close to a favorite. I listed New
Mix just because I liked some of the mixes over the original songs.
I listed Baby as my "worst" album, and boy am I in the minority. I think
my problem with Baby is that it is very similar right through. There isn't
much change in the style or pace of the music, so after the first 2 or 3
songs I lost interest. Lately I listened to it on more of a song to song
basis, and found it to be better. It's a toss up between Baby & Zebra,
that may be a reason I am not really hyped about getting Pocket Universe.
Will that be released in the US? Is the music in the vein of Zebra? I
will probably get it someday. Just to be loyal, or something like that.

This is my first post to the list and want to briefly introduce myself.
I have been listening to yello since "I Love You" and they continue to
be my favorite single group in the world. I live the L.A. area and had
the pleasure of meeting Dieter in Malibu. (He maintains a home there as
well.) He came in to my work a few times and was kind enough to sign my
hands on yello CD. I asked him about the videos and he said he had a
tape of them at home that he might give me. I think he got too busy.
Anyway, if anyone wants to see Dieter's home (as well as his wife and
family) check out the Dec./Jan. issue of ELLE DECOR. There is a few
pages on his Zurich home. He even designed some of his own furniture.
Well, maybe I digress...
This is my point- Does anyone know how I can get a copy of the double
CD Hands on Yello? If so let me know. I would also like to know how I
might get some of the videos on VHS, (I could convert them from PAL if
nec.)
Finally, I am curious to know what some of your most prized Yello items
are. This can be the next survey. Besides my autographed CD, I own a
7" picture disc of "I Love You" with a 3-D image and glasses to view it.
Cool, huh?
Later, All

Open letter it reply to Julzmon who told me he though HH was the best Yello
track ever and why.
Dear Julzmon,
thanks for the email. I have pulled Haunted House out of the cupboard once
more to listen to it to see if I can find what it is that everyone else likes.
The music ranges from great to intensly annoying thoughout the track, but I
think it is the words that annoy me, along with the cheery whistling. It still
gets the worst track award I am afraid.
This did make me think that the boys wouldn't have released it if they didn't
like it, so again, it proves that we all like different things. It also says a
lot about Yello that they can produce such diverse music that it appeals to
such a wide range of people, but you can't please all the people all the time.
No doubt I'll be in a mellow mood and quite happily listen to L'Hotel without
a blink soon, but I could never rate it as a favourite.
Regards,
Dave Goodman.
PS. I also got 2 emails saying they thought HH was the worst track, and loved
Habanera and Hairy "Girl".
Time for a new thread: how about; why don't Yello release a limited edition of
the 12" mixes. If New Order can do it, so can Yello.

Hi!
I followed the little discussion you had on Yello Mp3-files a while ago
an found it rather interesting.
The views are many and interesting. And here's mine.
Have you ever heard of the german group Rammstein? Neither had I
until I saw them on TV. I liked one of their songs but didn't know if
it would be worth to buy their album. But I found some Mp3's of their
songs that I listened to. Then I bought their album, went to one of their
concerts, bought two of their singles.
If it hadn't been for Mp3 I never would have done that - so thanks to
Mp3 they've made money on me.
But this is just me - other people I know have all their music on Mp3
and don't buy anything, so it's hard to tell whether it's good or not for the
artist.
But that's only new songs. When it comes to old Yello B-sides and singles
I don't think that Yello make any money on them anyway. It's the companies
who deal with used records that gets all the money, not Yello. And as somebody
said it's only we on this list who are interested in those songs (We
already have all
Yello-albums and the singles we can get hold on, but some are just too
expensive or
hard to get.) and I don't see why we can't share them.
I don't have very much rare material, but I'm willing to encode and share
the ones I have
with any Yello-fan out there. Everytime I get hold on an old Yello-song I
get very happy.
And I like to share that happiness with others.
If someone has something rare encoded I'm also willing to receive it.
Thank you for reading my views.
/Andreas

I agree that I would like to get hold of a few of the more obscure singles on
MP3. Seeing as we have a private club right here on the list, why not just
email music direct to our fellow Yello fans as and when required.
If any bright spark can tell me how to encode and play this MP3 I would be
willing to transfer some of my rarer stuff quite happily, provided it didn't
take all day.

Subject: (yello) Blender
Date: 30 Jan 1998 23:51:35 GMT/BST
From the results of the survey, I was interested to discover that
"Blender" was the worst track for a number of people, personally it was
the best (narrowly beaten by Sometimes Dr. Hirch). I thought I'd explain
why I like it.
A tense, mysterious beginning, low bass, then a helicopter. Has it taken
someone away? Or dropped someone off? The bassline is wet, precise
percussion, if you listen carefully you can hear the sound of life.
Laughing, living, blending...
Random Tox, speaking to the housewives of the world, selling to girls,
sales talk, but it's not fooling her.
Vacuum cleaners suck, and so can the life associated with mundane living.
What makes her come alive is leading, dominating, living life on the
edge, who needs to be tied to kitchen appliances when there's a welcoming
world in clubland, she dresses to kill, she controls, she doesn't need
him, but he's privileged enough to share the experience with her, he
drowns in her power, her purity, and she takes it right to the limit.
This is the song for me, very powerful, very emotive. I'm also lucky
enough to have such a woman in my life, she's at home with the mundane,
but in the night she leads. I love to see others reactions to her, the
way she dresses, what she's not afraid to do, she has power, but whatever
technology is created for her life, she will always beat it's
sophistication. I'm hooked on her, she's changed my view of the world.
As the song says
"They always know who I am, what I do
She gave me no wink
Just a smile of her hips
And a sip of my glass"
Maybe that's why you guy's don't like it? It confirms the power women
have. Me? I just go with the flow!
Jungle Bill from the same album is another powerful track, I noted quite
a number in the survey put this as the worst album. For me this album
speaks of the power of the woman. I feel very comfortable with that.
BTW, A typo on my reply to the survey: Pat Metheny, not Pat Methenty!
Enjoyed that survey!
Best regards

Hi,
There Was Some Concern About the Existence of Tracks from Existing
Albums on My Site.
These Tracks are Available for Those of Us Who Want to IntroDuce
Yello to Others Can Use this Site.
All Activity on My Site is Monitored Daily. Those That Abuse YELLO
will be Banned from Access to My Server.
I Think This is Fair Enough. The Other 12GB of Music is NOT
AvailAble to AnyOne, Is It Not Clear Where I Stand???
I am Going to Create Another Directory on the Site Right Outta The
Yello DIR for Those Who Want to Introduce to Your Yello Friends Some New
Music That We May Want to Purchase. Please Get Us Some SAMPLES!!!!!!!! I
Will Toss A Couple of My Favorites in This Location for Starters. Please
Put the Name of the Group or Artist in the Front End of the File-Name Before
UpLoading, and Also Breif Us All from the List Telling Us More About the
UpLoad!!!!!
This Should Work-Out Great!!!!

Date: 31 Jan 1998 02:35:09 -0600
Hey,
This Group Obviously Has Excellant Taste in Music. I am Sire I Am
Not the Only One OPEN to Discovering What Else the Other Yello-Lovers are
Listening to When Not Listening to Yello.
Like I Had Mentioned Earlier. My Site is Up, and Open to You People.
The Directory for SAMPLES of Other Artists or Groups will Be a Sub-Dir of
Yello Called SAMPLE OTHERS.
I Started the SAMPLE OTHERS Area with a Couple of My Own Other Picks:
MARS LASER "The Eleventh Hour" NEW AGE (VERY VERY Feisty Synthesizer
Music for NewAge)
-Those with the Reproductive Systems Should Scope Some Mars
Laser!!!!
-The Eleventh Hour Album Has Several Tracks with the Q-Sound
Encoding Technique On. NEAT!!!
Mars Lasar Released His Debut Albbum in 92 Called "Olympus". Since Then 3
Others Have Been Released "Eleventh Hour" "Escape" adn the Most
Recent "Sapphire Dreams"
Both Olympus and The Eleventh Hour are VERY Rich in Dynamic Content. I Also
Think That MARS LOVES 1st Octave Alot!!!! He Goes Out of His Way to include
Plenty of It!!! (Yello Like)
The Second Song:
Cirque Du Soleil "Let Me Fall" New Age Mellow to VERY Exciting
Synth\Ambient Music.
-They have VERY VERY Clean Ambient Recording.
-"Quidam" is a Great Album to Start with.
This Group Deos the Music for the Famous Circus Acts Outta France Called
"Cirque Du Soleil"
-WonderFull Circus Production. The Music\Costumes\Acts are
UnBeleivable!!!!
-Each of Their Albums is Actually a SoundTrack to Their Particulair
Productions.
-Found in Either New AGE or SoundTracks.
**Don't Know Whether This Will Catch?? If it Deos Though, I am Looking
Forward to Experiencing the Music That Others on this List are
Enjoying!!!!!!
PLEASE SAMPLE These Two Artists and Many More (I HOPE) from My
Yello-FTP-Site

Just a small correction. It's Mars Lasar. Not Laser. His music is
wonderful. Also look forward for a future album by him with his wife singing.
Forgot the name of the group that he is going to call it, but if you really
want to know I could look it up.
Also lets not forget about William Orbit who is a genius to me also he is
producing the new Madonna album. (probably will be the best one with William
producing and all).

Not being a "lyrics" person- I hardly know what the song was about. I chose it
as my worst track simply because I *did* notice the lyrics. I thought the song
wasted a fantastic hook by utilizing the blender metaphor.
Best, FG

Yes! BassOmatic is William. I consider it to be one of his works. But they
are all so good. That one though stands out from the rest. In an interview
he him self said that it was his favorite.
