Hi. There are two additional names mentioned on producing vocals.
Perhaps Boris got them from them. Perhaps they are on some sound effects
libraries.

Finally! (*sigh*)
I finally found P.U. at my local recordshop. I guess they are a bit behind
here in Aarhus, Denmark.
I think it's great. I loved Zebra a lot and this one is just as
(techno)good. There's just one thing missing. More tracks... :-)
Well, My favourite on P.U. is Resistor. I'm just wondering about one thing
though.
The *scream* sample used in the song (begins at 0:42). Where is it from? I
know I've heard it before.
Does any of you guys know where Boris sampled it from?

Well, I can only say, that I was very disappointed after I heard
To The Sea. To me it sounds just like mainstream techno, and doesn't
have much to do with Yello at all. I like good techno music, but
this new style is very far from the original unique style of
Yello and quite standard. Where has all the excitement and
innovatism gone !?
I bought PU two days ago, and I'm not very impressed with it either.
It's better than Baby, and especially Zebra, but a lot worse than
for example Solid Pleasure or Stella. Where Zebra and Baby
seemed to represent a transition phase to techno music, PU
completes that phase. It has some good old Yello-style musical
landscapes especially in the middle part of the album. I'm
not against techno, but if going to techno means losing the
band's best quality, distinctiveness and unique sound, then it
will prove to be their artistic nemesis.
After PU I listened to some of their older songs from the New
Mixes album, and noticed one clear difference with the whole concept.
It seems that Dieter hasn't spent much time with PU, he's more
like a visitor who only features on a couple of tracks, while
in New Mixes and other older albums he's an equal part of the duo.
Maybe he's spending all his time with the movie, but if he doesn't
come back to music business, Yello will be reduced to Boris Blank.
Boris is a fantastic musician, but Yello can really only exist with
the full presence of Dieter Meier.

Yes, they added our hompages to the new Yello page !!!
It is a little complicated to find out the java thing at the
"friends of yello" link but I found new Yello pages
as well as I found a note relating to AWEX.
You remember he remixed one of the tracks on the "On Track" box:
AWeX are Thomas Wedel aka DJ Tom Wax and Thorsten Adler. The name means
A(dler)W(del)eX(perimental). The two musicians from Frankfurt are also
best-known as Microbots and Arpeggiators and produced records as Psycho
Drums for R&S.As Microbots they=B4ve been releasing since 1992=B4s debut "Ch=
ip
1" records for Overdrive, as Arpeggiators they released several 12"es for
Harthouse
before they split with the label. Alex Plastic approached them to make a
remix for his Plastic City
label. But out of the remix came an original track: "It=B4s Our Future", a
303 track which was picked up
in the spring of =B495 by Urban/PolyGram.

My friend said that the album sounds darn good but doesn't sound
like Yello.
My favored tracks (for playing with big volume) are pan blue, resistor,
and more (in this order). They are technically quite nice and they
sounds great.
The yelling sample in resistor is from the Si Senor the Hairy Grill
as I wrote here earlier -- are not my mails getting there?
There are also sequences from the Suite 904 (Bible Mix versions).
I try to write more about the songs quite soon.

Hi,
To the Sea finally made it to the west coast of the USA. I have to say that
i like it more than i'd expected (based on comments from this list)
one thing I did notice was that the third track on the cd single
incorporates a ton of samples from an old art of noise song ("moments in
love", i think, maybe another like it). There's about four samples from
that song that I could count.... you could even say that that third track is
as much a remix of that song as it is "to the sea"
later,

When the album One Second was relesed, Boris said in an interviev in Music
Technology (October 1987), that he mainly work alone in the studio and hate
it if other people are around (thats why Carlos left) and then he invites
Dieter to sing to it. And again in Music Technology (August 1991) he says
that Dieter doesn't come in on a piece until it's 90% finished. When One
Second was released Dieter was absent most of the time because of his heavy
involvment in directing a film. Guess which one. Yes, give the man a cigarr,
it WAS Snowball (at that time Paul McGann was starring in it. Does anyone
know if he still is?) and if it's true what Martino Decarolis wrote
> According to an interview in the Swiss TV-magazine "TR7" (Nr.10/97),
> Dieters movie (ex-Lightmaker, ex-Once Upon A Dream, ex-Snowball) will be
> out in December 1997, most probably...
perhaps that has been taking up a lot of Dieters time this time as well.
However, I must say that in my opinion Dieter sounds much more involved and
inspired on this album than on Zebra, where he in my ears seemed to be using
his experience more than inspiration.
To me this album is a health sign. Just put on your headphones and enjoy. My
favorites (at the moment) are Celsius, On Track (remindes me a bit of
Bostich) Monolith (sounds a bit like a combination between Magneto and
Massage from Solid Pleasure) To the Sea (which has a sort of latin basic
beat, and I do like Stina Nordenstam) and Resistor. I'm very happy to hear
the spacelike intros on a lot of the songs. I've been missing them for the
last few albums, and that they still use percussion (like congas and stuff)
and not only sounds. I also like the fact that it's darker. It reminds me a
little of some of the moods you can hear on some of the songs from You Gotta
Say Yes... and Stella. But I also agree with what Jonas wrote:
> I noticed was the absence of the usual amount of humour,
> surprise and craziness that at least I expect.
and I also miss the presence of other musicians like Beat Ash, Chico Hablas
and Marco Colombo which I always thought added something to the songs. But
then, maybe I've become so used to hear them that I automaticly expect to
hear them. What surprised me was the flute in Monolith which is playing the
beginning of Syrinx by Claud Debussy (for those of you who by any chance
don't know. Claud Debussy was a French classic music composer who lived
between 1862 and 1918. He is known to be the father of impressionism). I
have never heard them take something from another piece like that before (or
have I missed something). Does anyone have any idea how that flute piece got
into Monolith.
Overall, I do love this album and it's been rotating almost constantly in
CD-player and walkman for the past week.

In the Swedish newspaper "Aftonbladet" last Thursday was an interview with
Boris Blank regarding the single. So here's the story behind the single for
those who are interested.
According to this interview it was Boris who first heard one of Stina's
albums. He fell in love with her voice and played it for Dieter who also
liked it.
They sent a tape to her and she wanted to collaborate. She came to the
studio and the recordings took 4 hours, then she left and Borsi havn't heard
from her since.
He just hoped that she wasn't mad at him cause she had a bit of a temper.

I saw that too. I didn't know the show was called Amp. I enjoyed it very much
although I caught it by chance while changing channels to see if there was
any more news footage of the bold robbery shoot-out that took place a few

Another thing; pardon my ignorance but just who is this Stina woman? Has she
recorded with another group? I've read in here how she is in demand, etc. but
not much else.

What is everyone's favorite Yello album? _Stella_ wins for me hands
down, for consistency of style, quality of the moods and musical feel
created, and uniqueness of the whole album (I quite frankly haven't
heard another album that even sounds a little like _Stella_). 2nd and
3rd for me are the _New Mix in One Go 80-85_ (does that count as an

March 4:
If you were born on this day ... people simply enjoy being around you for
your happy-go-lucky attitude. You are quick-witted, quick in your movements,
and quick to lend your charming, optimistic insights to those in need. Even
in adversity you never become too disheartened. You always manage to find a
way to make the best of a bad situation. Because you abound in energy, you
find life to be one big super-exciting trail of adventure and amusement.
Sound a bit like Dieter? Also, a specific aspect for 4 Mar 1945:
Saturn in CANCER You could have difficulty in letting go and feeling life,
preferring instead to think about it rather than do it. Afraid of the sense
world, you avoid plunging in and fear being caught or tied down. "To be or

My friend said that the album sounds darn good but doesn't sound
like Yello.
My favourite tracks (for playing with big volume) are Pan Blue, Resistor,
and More (in this order). They are technically quite nice and they
sounds great.
The screaming sample in Resistor is from the Si Senor The Hairy Grill.
There are also sequences from the Suite 904 (Bible Mix versions).
Magnetic is quite the same than Musky on Carl Cox's album. There are
additional vocals in Magnetic. And times are different: Musky is 6:45.

In today's edition of the newspaper VG there's a short interview with
Dieter Meier from his Oslo visit. He is pictured with two Norwegian
musicians/DJs - Rune Lindbaek (of Volcano and Alania fame) and
Strangefruit (Paal Nyhus), and it says that they have just completed
a remix of 'To The Sea'. The interview mentions Meier's work with film,
and has him say "I am the godfather of techno music".
Yello (perhaps only Meier) was also guest in the radio programme
Poprush on NRK Petre last Friday, though I did not hear this. To The Sea is
enjoying quite a lot of radio play here, appearing 3-4 times a day on Petre
suggesting it's on their "A list".

Date: 06 Mar 1997 23:08:06 +0100
Hello!
I've been thinking of making some kind of
inter-linking between our various Yello sites.
There are of course already links between
them, but I'm thinking of a more systematical
approach. It's not very easy to find your way
in this jungle, especially not for a newcomer
who has just found our Yello sites, maybe
via links on the official site.
If *you* have a site and like this idea, then
please mail me privately. I will make a special
primitive "mailing list" for us, since I doubt that
it would be of a general interest to the members
of *this* mailing list.
I will of course notify this list about the results.
PS I have now completed my re-designing of
my own Yello pages, to make it look a bit
more palatable.

1. Stella
2. Solid Pleasure
3. You gotta say yes to another excess
In all honesty, their newer stuff from say Flag onwards is not on par with
their earlier stuff, not to say that their more recent creations are bad,
it's just that they're not as good as say Vicious games, Let Me Cry,
Bostich and Oh Yeah. Anyone tend to agree ??

Personally I jumped on the Yello bandwagon when "Excess" was released. That
has sentimental top spot. "One Second" rings my ethnic bell and I use
"Stella" to win over non-believers.
I thought there wasn't anything more unique than "She's Got A Gun" until I
heard the "New Mix" version. Like my kids, not everything they do is
wonderful, but they are *mine*.

Why do most of you pick Zebra to be Yellos *worst* or least likable album.
I think it's one of the greatest.
Fat Cry is IMO one of the best love songs they've made. And Nighttrain is a
great semi-technotrack. The sounds are well shaped and Boris' perfectionism
shines right trough.
Could the reason be that you don't like Zebra because it was _totally_
different from Baby when it came out? (I guess it's still different but you
get the point dontcha...)
Stella, Flag and Zebra are probably the albums I hear most, but it's hard
to choose an album which I like better than others. My absolute favourite
track are easier to pick out: Desire.
I've never heard any song like it. Not even another Yello song. For me
Desire _is_ Essential Yello.

Hi !
My good friends, the eyes have seen av review of PU i my lokal paper,
Sydsvenska Dagbladet. It's written by Herbert Tinz, and I'm afraid that he
didn't think very much of it. (For me, that usually goes with Herbert Tinz
as well). It's as follows:
"The 97-model of Yello is a stone dead story. The only sign that the corpse
is alive is the collaboration with Stina Nordenstam on the fabulous "To The
Sea". Fabulous thanks to Stina that is. The singel is recomended. Boris
Blank and Dieter Meyer ought to look for something else to do, on the techno
scene they are completley run over by younger and more imaginative forces"
Well, what can you say. I think that reviews like these are best left
without a comment, with the exeption that he least he could have gotten
Dieters last name right. I think that that's the most positive thing I can
come up with in this case.
Have anyone else seen any reviews of the album that they wish to share ? I,
for one, am very curious of what other papers think of the album. There must
be some reviewers out ther with good taste.

Eric SchΣder

**Favorite Yello**
Isn't it a difficult question! From one side, "Stella" is richest in
musical ideas and new sounds. I noticed that everyone likes this piece.
However, I still prefer
smoothness and refinement of "One second" and "Baby". There is less
experiment in
these to albums, but I like a feel of each note being exactly in place
it should be. I think
it comes with experience of performers. Finallyà I vote for "Baby".
By the way, does anybody know other people who play music more or less
similar to "Yello"?
I think that "Art of Noise" fits in this description.

Me neither. Here's the story of why I think ZEBRA is such a great album. I
kept up w/ Yello through Flag, which I thought was brilliant. I liked all
of them but was too young to really appreciate the earlier stuff. Gradually
though I lost interest in Yello as I discovered musical things besides
European synth pop. Baby came out and because it was a $20 import I never
bothered to get it. The low point came when, during a summer in which I was
completely broke, I sold my Yello collection to buy food and pinball games.
Too bad. Flashforward, 1996: about a year ago I am visiting a friend in
San Francisco and in a record store there I find the Yello 12" box set, the
yellow vinyl one. Just seeing it brought back a flood of fond memories, and
it was so beautiful that i got it. upon listening to the collection, which
mainly spans the EXCESS - ONE SECOND period, I was amazed that I had ever
lost touch. It was amazing, and plus it was on vinyl which I am convinced
had never been played before. In fact, I think that if anyone thinks that
vinyl doesn't really sound better than cd's, they should listen to Yello on
vinyl. But that's another argument. To make a short story shorter, I
decided to see what was up with Yello of late, so I got Zebra. IT WAS ONE
OF THE MOST STUNNING AURAL EXPERIENCES I HAVE EVER HAD. The depth of Yello
had both shifted and remained true to form. Contrary to my expectations
that they would have sounded dated and tired, it was the freshest sound I'd
heard in a long time. "Nighttrain" is just about as stunning a song as you
will find anywhere, "How how" is the mix of "Oh Yeah" I'd rather hear, when
I hear "SAX" i can't help but to jerk like a horny pony would. I think
they're doing great on their later albums. The span of their vision is an
amazing accomplishment, as is their adaptation to/innovation of new sounds.
So now I'm rebuilding my Yello collection--on vinyl this time--and Yello if
youre out there sorry for my lapse in faith.
Later,
Piet Sloane

The following discussion is taken from some newsgroup. I asked the

They are at least agreeing that it is "ouad".

Joe Angel:
Ouad el habib = beloved boy OR valley of the beloved, i.e., where my
beloved dwells. The transliteration 'OUAD' is ambiguous; it could mean
'boy' in North African dialects or Arabic, and could mean 'valley' or
'quarter' in classical Arabic.
Sadik Sebbar Alaoui:
OUAD doese not mean vallley or boy in arabic or north african dialects,
OUAD mean only river, but river of beloved must be interpreted with a bit
romantic
Joe Angel:
Every Arabic language geography text I have ever read employs
'wad' (waw, alef, dal; this is what I take 'ouad' to be) to mean
'valley' (exchangeably with 'wadi'). You are of course correct in stating
that 'wad' also means 'river', but this is not the ONLY meaning. In fact,
most native speakers of Arabic would use 'nahr', rather than 'wad', to
denote a river.

I thought the "go"s in Resistor are sung by Dieter or Boris.
If they are stolen from Moby, then I would like to have an audiofile
containing the copy of Moby's "go" --- just to verify it myself.
Yello's "go"s seems to be all different...
Well, Resistor seems to be a parody of the rave/techno songs. I understand
this "go" (or "let the beat go" whatever) are used in quite many songs
and not least in Modules found from the network.
Funny "faster, faster, faster, faster, faster, faster" at 6:15 of
the song means, of course, the beat is just not fast enough.
In Pan Blue, the processed background voice says clearly "Yello" and
perhaps some times "olley" and "olleyello". What do you think?

Chances are that you really don't have *all* of the stuff on Essential --
there are one or two unreleased mixes on there. The booklet's nice. That's

I haven┤t followed the discussion about "quad el habib" but is┤t it spelled
"Cuad el habib" ?
Faster faster faster, do they realy say that ? I think it┤s only a sound,
which sounds like faster.
But I can agree that they say Yello in the song Pan blue, but again, it can
be anything.
And the sound GO, it┤s 100% Yello and not Moby.

Funny thing, if one should mention that he enjoys "electronic" music, the
average person would assume, "Oh, so you like Pink Floyd." I haven't seen
mention of them at all here-thankfully( no offense intended if you happen to
be a fan of theirs).
Yello is one of the few in my collection that has "Carte Blanche"
privelidges. If Boris did a PF tribute I'd likely buy-and love it.
Of other artists, I tend to gravitate toward a particular record or period of
their recording past: The The (up to mid '80's), Los Lobos "Kiko",Tom Waits
"Swordfishtrombones", "Franks Wild Years", Enigma and some of the
Island/Mango series African remixes to name a few.
There is bound to be a common thread among Yellophiles. My guess is that
it can be traced astrologically. I'd be a willing participant if anyone wants
to do a profile/questionere.
I'd love to see Prince and Boris produce one another's music.

Essential contains a new version of 'The Rhythm Divine' featuring Dieter
whistling with the trombone in the middle section, and an edited version of
the Baby version of Jungle Bill (not the single version), as well as other
single versions, and some album versions (why weren't the single versions
used for those songs? :( )

Funny idea ... that astrological thing.
Well, using the eskimo calendar I guess I would be tuna or so (maybe hot
tuna on italian pizza), which would mean that regardless of me liking
yello I would have the ugliest problems to get access to new releases.
Assuming - on the other hand - influence of the planets on my miserable
tuna-life, possibly I could jump around a little bit in the fresh air
covering the ocean surface to make the planets watch me gracefully and
send me all those new yello releases (certainly for free!?).
oh my dear, how could anyone......

Hi and hello. New on this list.
There's been some talk about music similar to Yello, and one group that
springs to mind is Moloko. Check out their first and only (?) album "Do
you like my tight sweater"! Even if their music is more some kind of
freaked-out Triphop with some drum'n'bass, there are a number of
similarities, especially to older Yello: the weird noises, the creative
and very synth-based production and of course the bizarre humor in the
lyrics.
Very enjoyable, and I think Boris would agree. Dieter, I don't really
know. Anyone got any indications on Dieter's own musical taste?

HI YELLO freaks!
I hope your discussions about tuna and all the other animals has
anything to do with Yello.
The following lines have ....(something to do with yello)
I went to the Pocket Universe Show at the planetary in Munich
and I have to say: IT IS A MUST for any real Yello fan
Shure they use the P.U. tracks from the album without changing
or remixing anything. The music for the show follows the
chronology of the album, but they excluded:
more, to the sea and magnetic
An interesting fact is that the part between Celsius and
On Track fits perfectly together, because Celsius ends
with wispers and On Track beginns with just the same whispers.
It seems that More does not really fit between the two tracks
and it was done later.
The transition from Monolith to Liquid Mountain
(excluding To The Sea and Magnetic) was
not so brilliant, because you can hear the seagulls and the waves
from To The Sea.
The complete Time for the show is about 42 minutes.
And it is a mixture between a laser show (using the most expensive
and newest lasers available) and a multi video screen show.
Most amazing was the part with On Track and Monolith
using the laserbeams (multicolored) with lots of fog and
stroboscope. The video clips are simmilar to the typical
race, bostich, goldrush videos using kitchentools, Boris and
Dieters head and of course the pocket universe head.
When reading the score (the end titles) you will hear the
radio remix from to the sea
And when you leave the planetarium, you will know
more about the universe, your pocket and of course
your kitchen....

G E O R G

Since the album is about space and magic etc. it may be worth noting the

A Monolith is an essential thing in Arthur C. Clarkes Space Odyssey, and
Dieter seems to be quoting Clarke in Beyond Mirrors.

Date: 20 Mar 1997 19:44:57 +0100
(Y)hello,
I have noticed that some people in the list were not totally seduced
by the new album *Pocket* ! I'll be frank...
Ok, ok... Baby time is off, but Pocket is a new step in Yello work !
Of course, Zebra was a meet with new style, but I don't think that a
lot of people doesn't like it ! I think that we must be tolerant with
this choice of Boris - pop had done its time !
I like techno, but not too commercial ! New albums (Zebra & Pocket)
use this kind of style but Boris' style & art is still on tracks !!!
I think it is a question of time - like all !
Here are finally my notes about Pocket after some days of non-stop
listening :
SOLAR DRIFTWOOD intro -
Terrific !
CELSIUS -
Good enough ! I really like the African rhythm and the *blocked nose*
voice ! A bit close to Jean-Michel Jarre's (French electro musician)
style.
MORE -
I really like this one (It can be love...) ! Sounds & melodies are
genials (0'28...) ! Some of them (like metalic water...) makes me think
again to Jarre's style !
ON TRACK -
Good !!! Close to Jarre's style too !!!!!!
MONOLITH -
Very *messtic* like MASSAGE ! Close to Eric Serra's (French musician of
Le Grand Bleu, Nikita, Leon...) work in Atlantis (french film where just
animals were actors) with flute. Rhythm makes me think to Alhambra's !!!
TO THE SEA - b e a u t i f u l p i e c e
Rhythm, melody, and voice are in perfect harmony. Sweet, strong and
mysterious - makes me think to DO IT (best part at 3'05 - Boris has yet
hurted) ! This jungle (!?) rhythm on a calm charming voice is very good
idea - magnifique ! Contrary to some on the list, I think it is a very
good track (maybe the most !). I personnaly thing that Dieter's voice
won't works with the too shrill melody ! The mix (of B'Zet) is bad
(too commercial) !
MAGNETIC - and... BeAu<Ti<FuL
Dieter's voice is laughy & brilliant (as always) !!! One of my favorites
tracks.
LIQUID MOUNTAIN -
Close to Jarre's & Serra's work !!!!!! Woomed voice = *Hold On Yello* ?
PAN BLUE -
Japanese feeling - maybe a wink to COBRA realization !? I like !
A tennis ball as rhythm (3'26) ?
RESISTOR -
Very nervous ! 'Like the intro sound (small-scale plane) ! Mix (?) of
Night Train, Daily Disco (85'), Domingo, Si Senor..., old Dieter's voice
tone + Bostich (85'), Suite 904 mix (gatch!) and Do It ! Quite good !
BEYOND MIRRORS - No More Words
Gigantic & Magic.
CONCLUSION: The ensemble makes me thing to Jarre' style - really !
In some words...
Wooden & Metalic
Naturel & Super...
Genesis & Futurist
Static & Cruising
Organic & Genetic
Gigantic & Molecular
Hot & Cold
Mysterious & *Messtic*
Rational & Magic...

I sometimes wonder whether these record companies do it deliberately -
release a single in one country, wait until everyone has bought the import,
and then release it in another country with an extra track. The US version
will probably have even more tracks when they get around to releasing it.
Still no news on when P.U. will be released in Australia :( but it *is*

So, if you get this message, hello!
Yesterday I heard a portait about Boris on Radio BR3. Apart from talking
about fashion and the secret of 18 years of working together with
Dieter (who spends most of his time in California with some movie
stuff) Boris said, that P.U. may be the last album for this century,
coz he's going to become father in June (or July? I forgot). And you
know, children are very important for Yello...
So, I'll have enough time to get used to P.U. :-)
It's said to leave the field of pop music, where Yello spent the last
years and return to where they once started (well, Dieter did say that
in a music magazin) - hm (I miss the innovative sounds and melodies).

That's one of many things you can do. I have (too many)
suggestions to make, but a complete remastering with
loads of bonus tracks wouldn't hurt, would it? It's all up
to Mercury (and Yello), what they want to do: you could
release all the singles on CD (like Depeche Mode did),
you could put all 12" versions on CD (part 1-3 or so),
etcetera.
Last spring I spoke to Mr Big at mercury about this,
and told him I could help them, and he liked the idea
although they had PU to think about first.

I have just brought P.U from a local music shop who got in four copies 2
weeks ago and I brought the last one.
Cookie ( the guy at the shop) said "Yello used to be big here but not any
more",as he used to order 20 or so CD's and sell them straight away but it
takes 2 week's to sell 4!
There is quite a few points that I will make but I'll keep them short ,
Yello's music is deeper in it's understanding of the Universe ( or lack of
) though it's music but I feel that again they are expermenting with their
sound although the bass has grown to major levels never heard by Yello
before ( CAUTION some tracks can damage speakers if up too loud! ).
In some ways it's typical Yello stying in the way the songs start with a
whisper, then erupt in subsonic bass , pause for a breather in the middle
and start again!
The music has a more techno sound but is still has those little bit's and
pieces that make Yello what it is , although the old sound has in a way has
died.
How does everyone else feel about P.U?

If bonus tracks are added to their old albums, I have nightmares about all
the second-hand shops being inundated with copies of their old albums (as
well as the singles). I think I'd prefer the singles to be released on

Why have a limited edition? Why not release all the singles and rare
tracks, etc. in the form of albums. That way, anyone who isn't a Yello fan
now (gasp!), in ten years time will be able to find all the tracks in the
shops.
By the way, if P.U. is going to be the last album this century, does this
mean there won't be a soundtrack album for

Yes, tracks like Stalakdrama, L' Hotel, Sweet Thunder,
were originally intended for Snowball. There are for sure
tracks that we've never heard yet too, probably enough
to make a complete soundtrack since Boris has been
working on it since 1985!
Btw, the music that appeared in Ford Fairlane was never
released in that form on Baby. The music was remixed
and re-recorded extensively, and also not every tune
was used on Baby. Some versions were *really* cool.

In a previous message you said that you purchased PU from CDNOW.
You might want to check out www.cdteleshop.com
They are located in the Netherlands and have a secure server if you use
Netscape (so credit card information can be transmitted safely). I was
able to get PU for about $25 (U.S.) including shipping to the U.S.
(Although I don't actually have the CD yet - ordered it 7 days ago and was
told to expect a 7-10 day period for shipping to the US... I'm getting
antsy!!!)
I like CDNOW's information on each disk - including catalog numbers, track
listings, and often RealAudio clips of many songs (they offer much more
than any other web site), but they don't always have the best prices.

Greetings Fellow Yello Yahoos!
I'm relatively new to the list. I've been lurking for a few weeks, waiting
until I had something besides "hello" to say.
Thanks (Jonas?) for clarifying whether Hands On is a part of the official
discography. I almost felt bad about not being able to say I've got all of
yello's albums. That one was a big disappointment for moi.
My thoughts on P.U.: It's not one of their best albums, but I still like it.
After all the fuss about "To the Sea", I was expecting a lot worse from that
cut. The Steve B-Zet remix is disposable. I don't mind the shift back to
towards "techno", but the music isn't as finely crafted as earlier works.
P.U. is obviously one of Boris and Dieter's collaborations, but seems to be
missing some of the ingredients that makes yello YELLO.
Favorite Yello album: I do believe someone out there initiated a survey on
this. I have to qualify my answer on this. My "favorite" is probably One
Second. I like how every sound is so precisely placed within a sonic
tapestry. The album I find myself listening to the most is Baby. I'm an over
the top audiophile, and the sound quality of Baby is fantastic. If someone
was to ask me to pick the quintessential yello album I'd say Stella.
Concerning the release of remixes/b sides and remastering: There are so many
ways you can go with this. And of course the record company's going to take
the easy way out. I'd like to see one of these courses pursued. A boxed set
of ALL remixes/b sides etc. on cd singles. A boxed set of REMASTERED (those
early albums sound really dull) albums (let's say the first 4-5) with 2-3
full length discs containing all the remixes/b sides. Let's throw in a cool
book or video while we're at it. Sounds like the Pink Floyd boxed set? Yup.
As for second hand stores being inundated with used copies of old yello
albums... I don't think there are THAT many yello nuts out there that are
going to dump there collection so they can have the boxed set, so let's make
it a Limited Edition deal. I'm salivating already.

Unless the store screws up badly, I can get another copy of the "New Work

different Boris mix of "Do It" (otherwise unreleased, to my knowledge,
possibly in a DJ pack??) and excerpts from 4 other tracks that are on
Zebra (parts of the same mixes as on the album, I think). I don't know
what this would be worth, so let me know if you're interested. I'd prefer
to trade for some other Yello oddity. I'm also trying to find a few

Yes, mainly the melodies and the humour, the craziness.
There are no "songs" on it as we know them. Even though
Zebra was also techno oriented, it was more song oriented
than PU.

Hello everyone
I thought cabaret was around way before Yello. Also for Richard Kirk fans
the new Nitrogen on his label is very good cant stop listening to it and the
Agents With False Memories is ok its one big track . I'm also disapointed
that people seem not to like the new Yello. I love it I think its amazing,
its supposed to be a semi sereous album so the humor isnt as promonent but
the BASS is my fav part of the album. I love that Boris has such controll of
the bass thats whats impressive just like William Orbits music.
world peice.. Julian

I found this while surfing through the swiss part of the net:
http://www.eunet.ch/news/news_yello.html
It's some info (written in german) about the future plans about The Homebase.
-A bit old but it seems like they have some great ideas for the page.
'...a soundlab where the surfer becoms a musical pilot.'
Sounds cool, huh?
Anyway, by reading it I get the impression that there's a lot more in store
for us @ The Homebase.
Ciao
